CAUTION
New glass components (windshield, roof, door, and fixed glass) must be inspected before installation to meet Tesla’s internal standards of quality. Perform the inspection described in Pre-Installation Glass Inspection before beginning this procedure.

Remove

  1. Open the LH falcon wing door.
  2. Remove the LH rear door trim lower garnish. See Garnish - Lower - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH rear door trim upper panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove & Replace).
  4. Remove the LH rear upper rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Upper - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH front upper rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Upper - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH center rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Center - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the mid rear LH door trim gap hider. See Gap Hider - Door Trim - LH - Rear - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  8. Lower the LH falcon wing door.
  9. With assistance, remove the nuts (x10) that attach the LH upper rear door glass assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the glass from the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Loosen sequence is outside to inside from 1 to 10 as shown in the image.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm socket

Install

  1. With assistance, position the LH falcon door upper glass to body, and hand tighten nuts (x10).

    Note
    Add washers at the corners of glass to ensure the flatness between glass and body. The number of washers need to be added may vary.
  2. Torque the nuts (x10) that secure the LH falcon door upper class.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    Tightening sequence is inside to outside from 1 to 10 as shown in the image.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • 10 mm socket
  3. Open the LH falcon wing door.
  4. Install the mid rear LH door trim gap hider. See Gap Hider - Door Trim - LH - Rear - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the LH center rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Center - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the LH front upper rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Upper - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH rear upper rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Upper - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the LH rear door trim upper panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove & Replace).
  9. Install the LH rear door trim lower garnish. See Garnish - Lower - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Close the LH falcon wing door.
