Subframe Assembly - Front (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Move the vehicle to a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Remove the LH and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  3. Set the steering wheel straight ahead.
  4. Place a protector sheet onto the driver seat, and then install the steering wheel lock.
  5. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  6. Remove the front fascia valance. See .
  7. Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the front skid plate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the front subframe. See Subframe Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  10. Remove and discard the nuts (x4) that attach the front stabilizer bar to the front subframe, and then remove the stabilizer bar from the subframe.
  11. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the steering rack to the front subframe, and then remove the rack from the subframe.
  12. With the help of an assistant, remove front subframe from the subframe lift.

Install

  1. With the help of an assistant, install the new front subframe to the subframe lift.
  2. Install the steering rack onto the front subframe, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the rack to the subframe.
    167 Nm (123.2 lbs-ft)
  3. Install the front stabilizer bar to the front subframe, and then install new nuts (x4) to attach the stabilizer bar to the subframe.
    50 Nm (36.9 lbs-ft)
  4. Install the front subframe. See Subframe Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  5. Install the front skid plate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the front fascia valance. See .
  8. Install the LH and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  9. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  10. Remove the steering wheel lock and the protector sheet from the driver seat.
  11. Remove the vehicle from the 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  12. Calibrate the rear doors.

    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  13. Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
