Harness - Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - LH (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 17100072 1.56 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove

  1. Open all the doors and liftgate.
  2. Lower the front windows.
  3. Move the driver seat forward.
  4. Fold the LH 2nd row seat to the down position.
  5. Remove the LH rear sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Apply masking tape to the LH racetrack trim to avoid damage.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Masking tape
  7. Repeat step 3 through step 6 for the RH side of the vehicle.
  8. Remove the rear trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the front trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Front (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the trunk gap hider. See Gap Hider - Trunk (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the RH side rear trunk garnish. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the RH mid C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the RH trunk load floor bracket covers. See Cover - Bracket - Trunk Load Floor - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the RH lower C-pillar trims. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Repeat step 11 through step 14 for the LH side of the vehicle.
  16. Remove the 2nd row mid floor panel. See Floor Panel - Mid - 2nd Row (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  17. Starting from the front, lift the trunk carpet over the harpoon brackets, and then fold the carpet rearwards.

    Note
    Fold the carpet rearwards enough to access the rear seat components.
  18. Remove the 2nd row rear floor panel. See Floor Panel - Rear - 2nd Row (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  19. Remove the LH 2nd row rear floor supports. See Floor Supports - Rear - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove and discard the bolts (x4) that attach the LH 2nd row bench rear bracket to the vehicle.
    45 Nm (33.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
  21. Remove and discard the bolts (x6) that attach the LH 2nd row bench front bracket to the vehicle.
    45 Nm (33.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
  22. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  23. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  24. Disconnect the LH 2nd row seat harness electrical connectors (x3).
    Tip: Release the bracket for access to the connectors if needed.
  25. Release the clips (x2) that attach the harness from the LH floor support bracket.
  26. Fold the LH 2nd row seat to the down position.
  27. With assistance, remove the LH 2nd row seat assembly from the vehicle.
  28. Unfold the LH 2nd row seat assembly.
  29. Release the clip that attaches the center 2nd row buckle connector to the seat frame, and then disconnect the buckle connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in
  30. Remove the bolt that attaches the center 2nd row buckle to the seat frame, and then remove the buckle from the seat.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T50 socket
  31. Remove the LH 2nd row recliner lever. See Lever - Recliner - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  32. Remove the LH 2nd row recliner cover. See Cover - Recliner - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  33. Fold the LH 2nd row seat back to the down position.
  34. Unzip LH 2nd row seat back upholstery on both sides.

    Note
    The ends of zippers are tucked underneath upholstery.
    Tip: Use a pick to move the zipper.
  35. Release the clips (x4) that attach the LH 2nd row seat back tether cup bezel to the seat assembly, and then remove the bezel from the assembly.
  36. Release the J-hook that attaches the LH 2nd row seat back upholstery to the seat assembly, and then lift the upholstery up.
  37. Release the clips (x13) that attach the LH 2nd row plastic seat back to the seat assembly, and then remove the plastic seat back from the seat assembly.
  38. Remove the bolt that attaches the torsion spring bearing cap to the seat assembly, and then remove the bearing cap from the assembly.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  39. Release the clips (x6) that attach the LH 2nd row seat assembly harness to the seat back assembly, release the locking tabs (x2), and then disconnect the electrical connectors (x4).
  40. Release the LH 2nd row seat cushion retention trim J-hooks (x5).
  41. Release the clips (x2) that attach the black connectors the LH 2nd row seat frame, and then disconnect the electrical connectors (x5).
  42. Release the clips (x5) that attach the LH 2nd row seat assembly harness to the seat cushion support assembly.
  43. Disconnect the LH 2nd row seat electrical connectors (x2) from the seat controller ECU.
  44. Release the tabs (x3) that attach the LH 2nd row seat riser cover to the seat assembly, and then remove the cover from the assembly.
  45. Release the clip that attaches the LH 2nd row seat assembly harness to the seat assembly, maneuver the harness between the seat assembly brackets, and then remove the harness from the assembly.

Install

  1. Position the LH 2nd row seat assembly harness into the LH 2nd row seat assembly, maneuver the harness between the seat assembly brackets, and then secure the clip that attaches the harness to the assembly.
  2. Position the LH 2nd row seat riser cover into the seat assembly, and then secure the tabs (x3) that attach the cover to the assembly.
  3. Connect the LH 2nd row seat electrical connectors (x2) to the seat controller ECU.
  4. Secure the clips (x5) that attach the LH 2nd row seat assembly harness to the seat cushion support assembly.
  5. Connect the LH 2nd row seat assembly electrical connectors (x5), and then secure the clips (x2) that attach the black connectors the LH 2nd row seat frame.
  6. Pull the LH 2nd row seat cushion retention trim rearward, and then secure the J-hooks (x5).
  7. Secure the clips (x6) that attach the LH 2nd row seat assembly harness to the seat back assembly, connect the electrical connectors (x4), and then secure the locking tabs (x2).
  8. Position the torsion spring bearing cap into the seat assembly, and then install the bolt that attaches the bearing cap to the assembly.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  9. Position the LH 2nd row plastic seat back into the seat assembly, and then install the clips (x13) that attach the plastic seat back to the seat assembly.
  10. Position the LH 2nd row seat back upholstery to the seat assembly, and then secure the J-hook that attaches the upholstery to the seat assembly.
  11. Position the LH 2nd row seat back tether cup bezel into the seat assembly, and then secure the clips (x4) that attach the bezel to the assembly.
  12. Zip up the LH 2nd row seat back upholstery on both sides, and then tuck the ends of the zippers underneath the upholstery.

    CAUTION
    Be careful not to pull the zipper off the track.
    Tip: Use a pick to move the zipper.
  13. Unfold the LH 2nd row seat assembly.
  14. Install the LH 2nd row recliner cover. See Cover - Recliner - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the LH 2nd row recliner lever. See Lever - Recliner - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Position the center 2nd row buckle on the seat, and then install the bolt that attaches the buckle to the seat frame.
    45 Nm (33.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T50 socket
  17. Connect the center 2nd row buckle connector, and then install the clip that attaches the connector to the seat frame.
  18. Fold the LH 2nd row seat assembly down.
  19. With assistance, position the LH 2nd row seat into the vehicle.

    Note
    Make sure the guide pins are properly aligned.
  20. Install and hand tighten new bolts (x6) that attach the LH 2nd row bench front bracket to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
  21. Install new bolts (x4) that attach the LH 2nd row bench rear bracket to the vehicle.
    45 Nm (33.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
  22. Tighten the bolts (x6) that attach the LH 2nd row bench front bracket to the vehicle.
    45 Nm (33.2 lbs-ft)

    Torque the most forward bolt on each side before the outer bolts.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 11 mm socket
  23. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat harness to the LH 2nd row floor support bracket.
  24. Connect the LH 2nd row seat harness electrical connectors (x3), and then secure the connector housing to the bracket.
    Tip: Release the bracket for access to the connectors if needed.
  25. Install the LH 2nd row rear floor supports (x3) into the vehicle.
  26. Position the 2nd row rear floor panel on the vehicle, and then install the clips (x2) that secure the panel to the vehicle.
  27. Fold the trunk carpet into original position.

    Note
    Fold the carpet down over the harpoon brackets.
  28. With assistance, position the 2nd row mid floor panel into the vehicle, and then secure the clips (x5) that attach the floor panel to the vehicle.
  29. Install the LH lower C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  30. Install the LH rear sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  31. Install the LH mid C-pillar trims. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  32. Repeat step 29 through step 31 for RH side of the vehicle.
  33. Install the LH and RH side rear trunk garnishes. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  34. Install the trunk gap hider. See Gap Hider - Trunk (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  35. Install the LH and RH trunk load floor bracket covers. See Cover - Bracket - Trunk Load Floor - LH (Remove and Replace).
  36. Install the front trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Front (Remove and Replace).
  37. Install the rear trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  38. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  39. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  40. Close the liftgate.
  41. Remove masking tape from the LH and RH lower C-pillar and from the race tracks.
  42. Fold the 2nd row seats to the up positions.
  43. Calibrate the LH and RH falcon wing doors.

    Hold the upper B-pillar button in the down position to manually calibrate.
  44. Move the front seats to original positions and raise the front windows.
