Seal - Body - Side - Rear - Primary - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open all the doors and lower the front windows.
  2. Remove the LH upper rear door glass assembly. See Door Glass Assembly - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH sun visor bezel A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the bolts (x2), screw, and nut that attach the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.

    Discard the nut after removal.

    Note
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm hex
    • 13 mm hex
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  5. Move the LH upper A-pillar trim for access to the headliner.
  6. Remove the screw that attaches the LH front end of the headliner to the vehicle.

    • 2 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  7. Move the LH front seat forward.
  8. Release the LH front door seal from the B-pillar trim.
  9. Remove the LH front door sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the LH rear door sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the LH lower B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Release the clips (x3) and magnets (x2) that attach the LH upper B-pillar trim to the B-pillar, and then disconnect the LH falcon wing door button electrical connector.

    • Plastic trim tool
    • Pocket screwdriver
  13. Move the LH upper B-pillar trim aside.
  14. Open the liftgate.
  15. Fold the LH 3rd row seat back into the down position.
  16. Remove the LH side rear trunk garnish. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Remove the LH mid C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Remove the LH upper C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  19. Open the LH and RH side rear coat hooks.

    Note
    Push the coat hooks inward, and then release to open.
  20. Remove the screws that attach the LH and RH rear coat hooks to the body.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • T20 socket

  21. Release the clips (x11) that attach the LH side of the headliner to the body, and then partially release the headliner from the body.
  22. Remove the screw that attaches the LH front racetrack trim to the spine racetrack.

    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  23. Starting at the bottom of the LH front racetrack trim and working upwards, release the clips (x22) that attach the racetrack trim to the vehicle, and then remove the trim from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
    • Plastic trim tool
  24. Remove the screw that secures the LH rear racetrack trim to the spine racetrack.

    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  25. Release the clips (x21) that attach the LH rear racetrack trim to the vehicle, and then remove the trim from the vehicle.

    Release the clips from the bottom of the trim first, and then work towards the top.

  26. Release the clips (x6) that attach the inboard side of the LH lower racetrack trim to the vehicle, rotate the trim upwards to release the clips (x2) that attach the trim to the lower B-pillar racetrack bracket, and then remove the trim from the vehicle.

  27. Remove the LH falcon wing door primary strut covers (x2).
  28. Release the clips (x8) that attach the LH upper racetrack trim to the vehicle, and then remove the trim from the vehicle.

  29. Release the LH primary rear side body seal from the body, and then remove the seal from the vehicle.

    Pull the seal inward to remove as much tape as possible from the body. Shift the seal up and over the LH rear door to fully remove it.
  30. Remove residual adhesive from the body.

    Remove the majority of the residual adhesive with the an eraser wheel, and then wipe with IPA.

    Removal may be more difficult when exposed to heat.

    Allow 1 minute of dry time.

Install

  1. Position the LH primary rear side body seal for installation.

    Position flange in seal between the primary hinges.
  2. Set the inner seal tape on the LH primary rear side body seal first, and then seat the outer seal tape and sill tape.,

    The inner tape should follow the body seam about 1cm from the edge.

    Note
    Wet out the adhesive applying pressure along the entirety of the seal once it is set in desired position.
  3. Position the LH upper racetrack trim on the vehicle, and then install the clips (x8) that attach the trim to the vehicle.
  4. Ensure that the LH falcon wing door seal is seated behind the LH upper racetrack trim.
  5. Install the LH falcon wing door primary strut covers (x2).
  6. Position the LH lower racetrack trim on the vehicle, install the clips (x2) that attach the trim to the lower B-pillar racetrack bracket, and then rotate the trim downwards to install the clips (x6) that attach the trim to the vehicle.
  7. Install the LH rear racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the LH front racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the clips (x11) that attach the LH headliner to the vehicle.
  10. Install the screws (x2) that attach the LH and RH rear coat hooks to the vehicle.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket

  11. Close the LH and RH side rear coat hooks.

  12. Install the LH upper C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the LH mid C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the LH side rear trunk garnish. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Move the LH 3rd row seat to original position.
  16. Close the liftgate.
  17. Install the screw that attaches the LH front end of the headliner to the vehicle.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)

    • 2 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  18. Connect the LH falcon wing door button electrical connector, and then install the clips (x3) and magnets (x2) that attach the LH upper B-pillar trim to the B-pillar.

    Replace the clips if damaged.
  19. Install the LH lower B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Install the LH rear sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  21. Install the LH front sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  22. Fully seat the LH front door seal on the B-pillar trim.
  23. Move the LH front seat rearward.
  24. Position the LH upper A-pillar trim for installation.
  25. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  26. Install the screw that attaches the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T20 socket
  27. Install the nut that attaches the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

  28. Install the LH sun visor bezel A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  29. Move LH front seat to original position
  30. Close the LH rear door.
  31. Install the LH upper rear door glass assembly. See Door Glass Assembly - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  32. Raise the front windows and close all the doors.
