Tesla Badge - Rear (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Cut the badge removal kit wire, and then tie slip knots onto both handles as required.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Badge removal kit - 1453028-00-A
    • Scissors
    • Tape measure metric/inch
  2. Starting from the bottom and working upwards, feed the wire back and forth to separate the rear tesla badge from the trunk surface, and then remove the badge from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Badge removal kit - 1453028-00-A
  3. Use IPA wipes to remove old adhesive residue from the trunk surface area. Allow 1 minute dry time.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • IPA wipes

Install

  1. Remove the new rear tesla badge front film, install the badge with the rear film on the badge alignment tool, and then perform a dry fit check as required.

    Note
    The badge alignment tool will line up with the rear applique. Use masking tape to secure the front of the badge to the badge alignment tool.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Masking tape
    • MX rear T badge fixture - 1083769-00-A
  2. Peel off the adhesive backing film from the rear tesla badge, and then install the badge on the trunk.

    Note
    Do not remove the masking tape from the front of the badge.

    Note
    Starting from the bottom and working upwards, apply pressure and allow the badge to fully adhere to the trunk.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Masking tape
    • MX rear T badge fixture - 1083769-00-A
  3. Remove the masking tape and the alignment tool from the rear tesla badge.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Masking tape
    • MX rear T badge fixture - 1083769-00-A
  4. Install the rear tesla badge front film.

    Note
    Starting from the center and working outwards, use a seam roller to apply pressure and allow the badge to fully adhere to the trunk, and then remove the film.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Seam roller - 1049517-00-A
  5. Visually inspect the rear tesla badge and verify proper installation. Wipe away any contamination.
