Note
This procedure describes work that is
specific to 2025+ Model X.
Remove
- Open all four doors and lower all four windows.
-
Move the LH front seat forward.
-
Move the LH Monopost seat
forward.
-
Move the RH Monopost seat
forward.
-
Release the clips (x8), datum and tab
that attach the LH rear sill assembly to the body.
-
Open the liftgate.
-
Remove the trunk rear load
floor.
-
Remove the trunk pocket load
floor.
-
Remove the lower trunk pocket load
floor.
-
Release the clips (x4) and datums (x2)
that attach the trunk sill trim.
-
Remove the trunk carpet.
-
Release the push clips (x4) and clips
(x2) that attach the rear wall load support.
-
Remove the trunk tub floor
insulator.
-
Release the clips (x17) that attach
the LH lower C-pillar to the body.
-
Disconnect the LH C-pillar
accelerometer connector.
NoteRelease the red locking tab.
-
Fold the LH 3rd row seat back into
down position.
-
Release the clips and datum that
attach the LH upper C-pillar trim.
-
Release the clips (x5) that attach the
LH crush can bracket.
-
Release the clip and datum that attach
the LH soft trim pocket bracket.
-
Release the push clips (x5) that attach the LH trunk side trim carpet, and then
disconnect the connector.
NoteRelease the trunk tie down ring.
-
Remove the screws (x3) and push clips
(x3) that attach the LH trunk side bracket.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket
- Move the RH front seat forward.
-
Remove the 2nd row floor mat.
-
With assistance, release the clips
(x5) that attach the 2nd row mid floor board.
NoteTilt the front edge upwards and remove the board in vertical position.
-
With assistance, release the clips
(x2) that attach the 2nd row rear floor board.
-
Remove the stud that attaches the LH
upper c-pillar duct.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
busbar duct assembly.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Raise the LH 3rd row seat back into
upright position.
-
Open the charge port door.
-
Open the hood.
-
Remove the rear underhood apron.
-
Power off the vehicle using the
touchscreen.
-
Disconnect the LV battery connector
and First Responder Loop.
-
Set the high voltage multimeter to DC
voltage, lightly touch the probes to the auxiliary battery connector contacts, and
verify that the multimeter displays a voltage.
NoteTouch lightly and do not damage the terminals.
-
Remove all items from pockets and make
sure not to wear any metal items.
-
Inspect the HV insulating
gloves.
NoteRefer to service document TN-15-92-003, for information on inspecting HV gloves.
-
Put on the HV insulating gloves and
then leather over gloves.
-
Verify there is no high voltage
present at the charge port.
NoteMake sure to wear PPE (HV gloves, safety glasses) when working on high voltage component, Measure B+ to B-, and B+ to Ground (use trunk striker as a ground for the isolation check). If voltage is greater than 10V, pack contactors are not open or welded, and stop work and reach out to the Service Engineering team.

Remove the leather glove protectors
and the HV insulating gloves.
- Remove the 3rd row seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 3rd Row (Remove and Replace).

Remove the bolts (x9) that attach the
LH inner reinforcement to body.
NoteUse a T40 socket with 8mm wrench to loosen the lower 2 bolts to avoid removal of the 3rd row seat frame, and then use a hex bit ratchet to remove bolts fully. All other bolts can be removed with 1/4in. Dr. ratchet and 1/4in. Dr. T40 socketTIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T40 socket

Remove and discard the bolt that
attaches the HV inlet safety cover.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 8 mm socket
-
Remove the nut that attaches the
charge port harness to the body stud.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Release the tabs (x2) to remove the HV
inlet safety cover from the charge port assembly.
NoteRelease the tab on each side of cover to remove.

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
busbar leads to the charge port assembly.
NoteNuts have captured washersTIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 11 mm socket
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the
busbar HV connector lid.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
HV connector to the DC FC header.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Remove the HV connector from the DC FC
header.
-
With an assistant, remove the busbar
assembly from the vehicle.
NoteRemove the busbar assembly from the LH rear door opening.
-
Disconnect the charge port connectors
(x2).
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the
charge port ECU to the vehicle, slide the ECU upward to release the clip, and then
remove the ECU from the vehicle.
TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Release the tabs (x2) that attach the
charge port controller bracket, and then slide the bracket upwards to remove it from the
vehicle.
-
Disconnect the LH tail lamp
connector.
NoteRelease the red locking tab.
-
Release the clips (x12) that attach
the LH body harness to the low C-pillar body, and disconnect electrical connectors
(x3).
-
Remove the LH wheelhouse absorber from
the vehicle.
NoteAvoid tearing the wheelhouse absorber by carefully clearing studs and bracket.
Install
-
Install the LH wheelhouse absorber
onto the vehicle.
NoteAvoid tearing the wheelhouse absorber by carefully aligning with studs and bracket.
-
Connect the electrical connectors
(x3), and then install the clips (x12) that attach the LH body harness to the lower
C-pillar body.
-
Connect the LH C-pillar accelerometer
connector.
NoteEngage the red locking tab.
-
Connect the LH tail lamp
connector.
NoteEngage the red locking tab.
-
Slide the charge port controller
bracket downwards to install the tabs (x2).
-
Position the charge port ECU into the
vehicle, slide the ECU downward to secure the clip, and then install the bolt that
attaches the ECU to the vehicle.
4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 10 mm socket

Install the nut that attaches the charge port harness to the body stud.
6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 10 mm socket

Connect the charge port connectors
(x2).
-
Clean the charge port assembly busbar
contact surface of residual penetrox with an Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) wipe.
NoteUse a plastic trim tool to push the IPA wipe down between plastic divider.NoteAllow 1 minute dry time before continuing.
-
Verify that the charge port studs (x2)
are torqued to proper specification.
2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Torx T10 bit

Clean the DC FC header contact surface
of residual Penetrox with an IPA wipe.
NoteAllow 1 minute dry time after wiping away Penetrox.NoteNew busbar comes with penetrox applied to HV connector.
-
Position the busbar assembly into the
vehicle for installation.
NoteNew busbar assembly comes with Penetrox A-13 applied on the HV connector side.
-
Apply Penetrox to the backside of the
busbar leads.
NoteApply 2 drops of Penetrox A-13 about 5 mm in diameter to either side of the hole on both leads. Spread the Penetrox evenly to verify the contact surface is fully covered.
-
Install the HV connector onto the DC
FC header.
NoteVerify the connector is fully seated.
-
Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
HV connector to the DC FC header.
9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 10 mm socket

Install the busbar leads onto the
charge port assembly, and the install the nuts (x2).

Inspect the HV insulating
gloves.
NoteCheck gloves for damage prior to use. Refer to service document TN-15-92-003, for information on inspecting HV gloves.

Put on the HV insulating gloves and
leather over gloves.
-
Perform a Hioki resistance test at
each HV joint (x2) from the HV busbar lead to the charge port stud.
NoteMeasure both joints at the highlighted locations. The acceptable resistance is between 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ) and 0.270 mΩ (270 μΩ).
- If the resistance is greater than 0.270 mΩ (270 μΩ), stop work and escalate a Toolbox session.
- If the resistance is lower than 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), reposition the probes and measure again.
- If the resistance is repeatedly between 0.00 mΩ and 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), the Hioki test passed. Proceed to the next step.

Perform a Hioki resistance test at
each HV joint (x2) from the HV busbar lead to the bolt head.
NoteMeasure both joints at the highlighted locations. The acceptable resistance is between 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ) and 0.195 mΩ (195 μΩ).
- If the resistance is greater than 0.195 mΩ (195 μΩ), stop work and escalate a Toolbox session.
- If the resistance is lower than 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), reposition the probes and measure again.
- If the resistance is repeatedly between 0.00 mΩ and 0.050 mΩ (50 μΩ), the Hioki test passed. Proceed to the next step.

Remove the leather over gloves and HV
insulating gloves.
-
Install the bolt that attaches the HV
connector lid.
9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 10 mm socket

Install the tabs (x2) to remove the HV
inlet safety cover from the charge port assembly.
-
Install a new bolt that attaches the
HV inlet safety cover.
6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 8 mm socket

Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
busbar duct assembly.
2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 10 mm socket

Install the stud that attaches the LH
upper c-pillar duct.
-
With assistance, install the clips
(x5) that attach the 2nd row mid floor board.
-
With assistance, install the clips
(x2) that attach the 2nd row rear floor board.
-
Install the 2nd row floor mat.
-
Install the bolts (x9) that attach the
LH inner reinforcement to body.
27 Nm (19.9 lbs-ft)NoteTo avoid removal of 3rd row seat frame. Use hex bit ratchet to fully seat bottom 2 bolts prior to torque.TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Torx T40 socket

Install the screws (x3) and push clips
(x3) that attach the LH trunk side bracket.
2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)TIpUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- Torx T30 socket

Install the clips and datum that
attach the LH upper C-pillar trim.
-
Install the clips (x17) that attach
the LH lower C-pillar to the body.
-
Install the clip and datum that attach
the LH soft trim pocket bracket.
-
Install the clips (x5) that attach the LH crush can bracket.
-
Install the push clips (x4) and clips
(x2) that attach the rear wall load support.
-
Install the clips (x4) and datums (x2)
that attach the trunk sill trim.
NoteMake sure to seat liftgate seal properly.
- Install the 3rd row seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 3rd Row (Remove and Replace).

Install the trunk tub floor
insulator.
-
Install the lower trunk pocket load
floor.
-
Install the trunk pocket load
floor.
-
Install the trunk rear load
floor.
- Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Close the hood.
-
Close the liftgate.
-
Verify operation of vehicle charging
system.
-
Close the charge port door.
-
Move the LH Monopost seat to its
original position.
-
Install the clips (x8), datum and tab
that attach the LH rear sill assembly to the body.
-
Calibrate the LH falcon wing
door.
-
Calibrate the RH falcon wing
door.
- Move the LH front seat to its original position.
-
Raise all four windows
- Close the LH front door.
