Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH and RH front doors.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. Move the driver and front passenger seats fully rearward.
  4. Remove the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH and RH middle A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH and RH front door sill trim panels. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the LH and RH lower A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the LH instrument panel LH middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Adjust the steering column fully rearward and fully down.
  10. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  11. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  12. Remove the front passenger floor mat.
  13. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the RH console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the center console phone dock from the center console as an assembly. However, do not remove the inductive charger from the phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  16. Remove the instrument panel service panel from the center console as an assembly. However, do not remove the cabin temperature sensor fan from the service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  17. Remove the touchscreen. See Touchscreen - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  18. Release the tabs (x4) that attach the instrument panel closeout panel to the instrument panel, and then remove the closeout panel from the instrument panel.
  19. Remove the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove the front passenger knee airbag as an assembly. However, do not remove the components from the knee airbag assembly after the assembly has been removed from the instrument panel. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  21. Remove the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  22. Remove the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  23. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  24. Remove the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  25. Remove the driver floor mat.
  26. Remove the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  27. Remove the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  28. Remove the driver knee airbag. However, do not remove the components from the knee airbag assembly after the assembly has been removed from the instrument panel. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  29. Remove the steering column upper shroud. See Shroud - Upper - Steering Column (Remove and Replace).
  30. Remove the lower instrument panel screws (x8), and then remove the lower instrument panel from the vehicle.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit

    CAUTION
    Carefully release the lower instrument panel assembly and guide it over the upper steering column.

Install

  1. Install the lower instrument panel into the vehicle, and then secure it with screws (x8).
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit

    Carefully guide the lower instrument panel over the upper steering column.

    Note
    Engage all tabs before fastening the screws.
  2. Install the steering column lower shroud. See Shroud - Lower - Steering Column (Remove and Replace).
  3. Install the driver knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  4. Install the LH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the driver floor mat.
  8. Install the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  11. Install the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the front passenger knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the RH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the front passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the RH front sill. panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  19. Install the front passenger floor mat.
  20. Install the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).
  21. Fasten the tabs (x4) that attach the IP closeout panel.
  22. Install the touchscreen. See Touchscreen - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the instrument panel service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the center console phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  25. Reconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  26. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  27. Restore the front passenger seat back to its original position.
  28. Close the RH front door.
  29. Install the LH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  30. Install LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  31. Install the LH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  32. Install the LH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  33. Restore the steering column back to its original position.
  34. Restore the driver seat back to its original position.
  35. Calibrate each LH and RH rear door by holding the upper B-pillar button in the down position.
  36. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  37. Close the LH front door.
