Center Console Assembly - 1st Row (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open all four doors.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. Move the LH and RH front seats forward.
  4. Remove the center console lower rear panel. See Panel - Lower Rear - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH rear console carriers to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 6 in extension
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr. Ratchet
    • Socket 1/4in Dr. 6pt. Swivel Ball 10mm
  6. Move the LH and RH front seats backward.
  7. Remove the LH front floor mat from the vehicle.
  8. Remove the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the LH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH center console lower bracket to the instrument panel carrier.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Hex Driver
    • Nutsetter 1/4in Dr. 6in. X 10mm Magnetic Deep
  12. Remove the RH front floor mat from the vehicle.
  13. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the RH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the bolt that attaches the RH center console lower bracket to the instrument panel carrier.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Hex Driver
    • Nutsetter 1/4in Dr. 6in. X 10mm Magnetic Deep
  16. Disconnect the 1st row center console assembly connectors (x4).
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pocket screwdriver
  17. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH center console carrier brackets to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr Ratchet
    • Extension 1/4in Dr. x 10in
    • Socket 1/4in Dr. 6pt. Swivel Ball 10mm
  18. Recline the LH and RH front seat backrests.
  19. With assistance, remove the 1st row center console assembly from the vehicle.

    Note
    Lift the rear of the console, rotate the front of the console from under the instrument panel, and then remove the console from the vehicle through the passenger door. Take care not to scratch the seats, instrument panel, or the inner door panel.

Install

  1. With assistance, carefully maneuver the front of the 1st row center console assembly under and into the instrument panel carrier, and then lower the rear of the console into place.

    Note
    Align the datums (x3) with the instrument panel carrier, and then engage the console forward.
  2. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH center console lower brackets to the instrument panel carrier.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Hex Driver
    • Nutsetter 1/4in Dr. 6in. X 10mm Magnetic Deep
    • Socket 1/4in Dr. 6pt. Std. x 10mm
    • Socket 1/4in Dr. 12pt. Std. x 10mm Deep
    • Torque Wrench 1/4in Dr.
  3. Connect the 1st row center console assembly connectors (x4).

    Note
    Ensure all connector locks engage.
  4. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH center console carrier brackets to the vehicle.
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr. Ratchet
    • Extension 1/4in Dr. x 10in
    • Socket 1/4in Dr. 6pt. Swivel Ball 10mm
    • Torque Wrench 1/4in Dr.
  5. Install the RH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the RH front floor mat.
  8. Install the LH center console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  11. Install the LH front floor mat.
  12. Move the LH and RH front seats forward.
  13. Raise the LH and RH front seat backrests.
  14. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH rear console carriers to the vehicle.
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Cordless 1/4in Dr. Ratchet
    • Extension 1/4in Dr. x 6in Locking
    • Socket 1/4in Dr. 6pt. Swivel Ball 10mm
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  15. Install the center console lower rear panel. See Panel - Lower Rear - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  16. Move the LH and RH front seats to original position.
  17. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  18. Close all four doors.
