Hose - Front Drive Unit Heat Exchanger to Supermanifold (Plaid) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Open the LH front window.
  3. Raise and support vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  4. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  5. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  6. Raise the vehicle partially and lower onto locks.

    Note
    Set the vehicle to comfortable working height. Make sure there's an audible click of the locks on both sides before lowering, otherwise vehicle may tilt to the side.
  7. Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  8. Position a foldable funnel under the front drive unit to prevent coolant contamination to HV battery components.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Foldable funnel - 1463565-00-A
  9. Position a coolant drain container under the front of the vehicle to catch vehicle coolant.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant drain container
  10. Release the hose clip that attaches the front drive unit heat exchanger to supermanifold hose to the RH sill hose, remove the hose from the RH sill hose, and then install coolant hose plugs on the hoses.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant hose plug kit - 1135762-00-A
  11. Release the hose clip that attaches the front drive unit heat exchanger to supermanifold hose to the heat exchanger, remove the hose from the heat exchanger, and then install coolant hose plugs on the hose and heat exchanger.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant hose plug kit - 1135762-00-A
    • Small flat head screwdriver
  12. Remove coolant drain container from underneath the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant drain container
  13. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.

    Note
    Raise lift off locks, and then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.
  14. Place a fluid catcher underneath the front of the vehicle to catch all coolant loss.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Fluid catcher - 1080568-00-A
  15. Release the hose clip that attaches the front drive unit heat exchanger to supermanifold hose to the supermanifold, remove the hose from the supermanifold, and then install coolant hose plugs on the hose and supermanifold.

    CAUTION
    Plug the supermanifold reservoir to prevent drainage.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant hose plug kit - 1135762-00-A
  16. Remove the front drive unit heat exchanger to supermanifold hose from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install coolant hose plugs on the front drive unit heat exchanger to supermanifold hose to prevent draining the coolant reservoir when the hose is installed.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant hose plug kit - 1135762-00-A
  2. Position the front drive unit heat exchanger to supermanifold hose on the vehicle, and then install the hose clip that attaches the hose to the supermanifold.

    Note
    Perform push-pull-push test to make sure the hose is fully seated.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant hose plug kit - 1135762-00-A
  3. Remove coolant catcher from underneath the vehicle.
  4. Raise the vehicle fully and lower lift onto locks.

    Note

  5. Position a coolant drain container under the front of the vehicle to catch vehicle coolant.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Coolant drain container
  6. Install the hose clip that attaches the front drive unit heat exchanger to supermanifold hose on the heat exchanger.

    Note
    Remove any plugs prior to installation. Perform push-pull-push test to make sure the hose is fully seated.
  7. Install the hose clip that attaches the front drive unit heat exchanger to supermanifold hose on the RH sill hose.

    Remove any plugs prior to installation. Perform push-pull-push test to make sure the hose is fully seated.
  8. Remove the foldable funnel from the vehicle.
  9. Remove the coolant drain container from underneath the vehicle.
  10. Spray the area with brake cleaner, and then wipe residual fluid off with a towel.
  11. Install the front skidplate. See Skidplate - Front (Remove and Replace).
  12. Lower the vehicle until the tires are touching the ground.

    Note
    Raise lift off locks, and then hold lock release lever to keep locks free while vehicle is lowered.
  13. Remove the coolant bottle cap.
  14. Fill coolant to the proper level.

    Ensure the fluid level is filled to the Max line.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Inspection mirror, rectangular
    • Flashlight LED
  15. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  16. Connect toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  17. In toolbox 3, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and type "Purge" into the search field.
  18.     Note
    • Coolant pumps will be audible.
    • Make sure the vehicle is not in drive state. Putting the vehicle into drive state will stop this routine.
    • Monitor levels as required.
    • Routine is still running despite the stop message.
    • Test lasts approximately 10 minutes.
  19. Inspect the coolant level and top off as necessary.

  20. Install the coolant bottle cap.
  21. Disconnect toolbox 3 and remove laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  22. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  23. Raise the LH front window.
  24. Close the LH front door.
