Air Suspension - Bundle - Front (Remove and Replace)

Special tool required: 1083876-00-A - Air suspension nitrogen filling kit

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  4. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  5. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for TAS service mode.
  6. Click PROC_TAS_X_ENTER-SERVICE-MODEvia Toolbox: (link), and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete before continuing to the next step.

  7. Click the Actions tab, and then search for Deflate.
  8. Click PROC_TAS_X_DEFLATEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode: Chassis ➜ Suspension ➜ Deflate, and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete before continuing to the next step.

  9. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  14. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  15. Remove the RH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - RH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Remove the LH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  18. Remove the wiper module. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
  19. Remove the bolt that attaches the front controller ground cable.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  20. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the RH FST cap to the superbeam.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  21. Remove the bolt that attaches the RH FST cap to the shock tower, and then remove the cap from the vehicle.
    14 Nm (10.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket

    Note
    Release the keyed ground strap from the RH FST cap after removal.
  22. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the remote brake fluid reservoir to the LH FST cap.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

    Datum (x1).

    Note
    Rotate the brake fluid reservoir with the bracket out of the LH FST cap.
  23. Remove the bolts (x3) and clip that attach the LH FST cap to the superbeam.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  24. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH FST cap to the shock tower, and then remove the cap from the vehicle.
    14 Nm (10.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  25. Remove the nut that attaches the air line fitting to the LH air spring module.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12-point combination wrench

    Note
    Once the air leak can be heard, stop turning until all air is released.
  26. Release the clip that attaches the front bundle to the LH shock tower assembly.
  27. Release the clips (x3) that attach the front bundle to the superbeam.
  28. Remove the nut that attaches the front bundle to the superbeam.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm 12-point combination wrench
  29. Release the clip that attaches the front bundle to the RH shock tower assembly.
  30. Remove the nut that attaches the air line fitting to the RH air spring module.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12-point combination wrench

    Note
    Once the air leak can be heard, stop turning until all air is released.
  31. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the front bundle to the auxiliary reservoir.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm 12-point combination wrench
  32. Release the clip that attaches the front bundle to the body.
  33. Remove the LH front and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  34. Remove the front fascia. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  35. Release the clip that attaches the front bundle to the body.
  36. Remove the nuts (x3) that attach the front bundle air lines to the air suspension valve block.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12-point combination wrench (torque 2 Nm)
    • 12 mm 12-point combination wrench (torque 3.5 Nm)
  37. Remove the front bundle from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the front bundle into the vehicle.
  2. Install new VOSS fittings (x3) onto air suspension valve block.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket (torque 2 Nm)
    • 12 mm 12-point deep socket (torque 3.5 Nm)

    Remove the white plugs when the air lines are ready to be installed.
  3. Install the front bundle to the air suspension valve block.

    Fully insert the air line into the fitting. It should sit between the two white marks on the air lines. Verify the air lines are properly seated by performing a push-pull test.
  4. Install the clip that attaches the front bundle to the body.

  5. Install the front fascia. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  6. Install the LH front and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Install the clip that attaches the front bundle to the body.
  8. Install new VOSS fittings (x2) onto the auxiliary reservoir, and then secure the air lines.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm 12-point deep socket

    Fully insert each air line into the fitting. It should sit between the two white marks on the air lines. Verify air lines are properly seated by performing push-pull test.
  9. Install a new VOSS fittings onto the RH air spring module, and then secure the air line.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket

  10. Fasten the clip that attaches the front bundle to the RH shock tower assembly.
  11. Install a new VOSS fitting onto the front bundle air line to the superbeam.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    • 12 mm deep socket

  12. Fasten the clips (x3) that attach the front bundle to the superbeam.
  13. Fasten the clip that attaches the front bundle to the LH shock tower assembly.
  14. Install a new VOSS air line fitting onto the LH air spring module.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket

  15. Install the bolt that attaches the LH FST cap to the shock tower.
    14 Nm (10.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  16. Install the bolts (x3) and clip that attach the LH FST cap to the superbeam.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  17. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the remote brake fluid reservoir to the LH FST cap.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

    Rotate the brake fluid reservoir with the bracket onto the LH FST cap.
  18. Install the bolt that attaches the RH FST cap to the shock tower.
    14 Nm (10.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket

    Note
    Insert the keyed ground strap into the RH FST cap before removal.
  19. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the RH FST cap to the superbeam.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  20. Install the bolt that attaches the front controller ground cable.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  21. Install the wiper module. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the RH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - RH (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the LH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  25. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  26. Set up the nitrogen tank kit (1083876-00-A) to fill the superbeam reservoir.

    Note
    Verify the valves are set to the closed position on the tank, regulator, and the air line.
  27. Connect the nitrogen tank hose to the reservoir.
  28. Open the valve on the nitrogen tank and set the pressure to 18 Bar using the regulator.

    Slowly open the valve and adjust the regulator.

    Verify pressure is set to 18 Bar
  29. Open the valve on the nitrogen tank hose.
  30. Verify the pressure holds on the regulator valve gauge.

    If the pressure does not hold, there may be a leak present.
  31. Re-establish vehicle connection to Toolbox 3.
  32. Click the Actions tab, and then search for TAS service mode.
  33. Click PROC_TAS_X_ENTER-NORMAL-MODEvia Toolbox: (link), and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete before continuing to the next step.

  34. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  35. Remove the air suspension from "Jack Mode."
  36. Close the valve on the nitrogen tank hose.
  37. Remove the nitrogen tank hose from the reservoir.
  38. Install the cap onto the reservoir valve.
  39. Close the valve on the nitrogen tank.
  40. Close the pressure regulator valve on the nitrogen tank to release the line pressure in the lines.
  41. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  42. Install the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  43. Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  44. Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  45. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  46. Calibrate the rear doors.

    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  47. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  48. Close the LH front door.
