Brake Caliper - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

NOTE: See Personal Protection to make sure proper PPE is worn when performing the below procedure.

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Remove the brake pad anti-rattle clips (x2) from the brake caliper.
    CAUTION
    The brake pad anti-rattle clips are spring loaded.
  6. Remove the LH front flexible brake hose. See Brake Hose - Flexible - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the brake caliper to the knuckle.
    135 Nm (99.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  8. Remove the brake pads (x2) from the caliper.
    Note
    2 guide pins each.

Install

  1. Use a hand brush and soapy water to clean the anti-rattle springs.
  2. Install the brake pads (x2) to the brake caliper.
    Note
    2 guide pins each.
  3. Install the brake caliper onto the knuckle.
    135 Nm (99.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
  4. Install the LH front flexible brake hose. See Brake Hose - Flexible - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the brake pad anti-rattle clips (x2) on the brake caliper.
    Note
    2x tabs on each anti-rattle clip. Ensure the anti-rattle clips are installed on the brake caliper correctly.
  6. Bleed the brakes. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  8. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  9. Perform a road test and ensure proper brake pedal feel and performance.
    Note
    Add correction code (00040100) to account for time.
