Curtain Airbag - 2nd Row - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower both of the LH side windows.
  3. Open the LH falcon wing door.
  4. Remove the LH rear door trim garnish. See Garnish - Lower - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH rear door trim decor. See Decor - Trim - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Open the hood.
  8. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  9. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off.
  10. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  11. Release the orange locking tab, and then disconnect the LH falcon wing door airbag connector.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in
  12. Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the LH 2nd row curtain airbag to the LH falcon wing door.

    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  13. Release the clips (x4) that attach the LH 2nd row curtain airbag to the LH falcon wing door, and then remove the airbag from the vehicle.

    Lift the airbag flaps to access the clips.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool

Install

  1. Position the LH 2nd row curtain airbag on the vehicle, and then install the clips (x4) that attach the airbag to the vehicle.

    Note
    Lift the airbag flaps to access the clips. Ensure the clips are fully seated.
  2. Install the bolts (x6) that attach the LH 2nd row curtain airbag to the LH falcon wing door.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

    TIp
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  3. Connect the LH falcon wing door airbag connector, and then engage the orange locking tab.
  4. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  6. Close the hood.
  7. Install the LH rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the LH rear door trim decor. See Decor - Trim - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Install the LH rear door trim garnish. See Garnish - Lower - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Calibrate the rear doors.

    Note
    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  11. Raise both of the LH side windows.
  12. Close the LH front door.
