Rear Door Hinge - Primary - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 11338002 2.94 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove

  1. Remove the LH lower B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the headliner from the vehicle. See Headliner (Remove and Install).
  3. Disconnect the LH and RH EM controller electrical connectors (x4).

    Note
    Push the tab inward to release the connector.
  4. Release the tab that attaches the coax connector to the center spine closeout panel, and then disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Remove the bolts (x8) that attach the center spine closeout panel to the vehicle, and then lower the closeout panel slightly.
    3.5 Nm (2.6 lbs-ft)

    CAUTION
    Do not allow closeout panel to hang from the harness.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  6. Release the clips (x5) that attach the center spine closeout panel to the wiring harness, and then remove the closeout panel from the vehicle.
  7. Carefully disconnect the ultrasonic sensor from the center spine applique.
  8. Remove the LH front racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the LH rear racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the LH falcon wing door primary strut covers (x2).
  11. Remove the LH upper racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the LH upper rear door glass assembly. See Door Glass Assembly - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the center spine applique. See Applique - Spine - Center (Remove and Replace).
  14. Open the LH falcon wing door.
  15. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH hinge trim cover to the vehicle, and then remove the cover from the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
  16. Remove the inner nuts (x2) that attach the LH carrier bracket to the body.
    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
  17. Remove the bolts (x2) and release the clips (x2) that attach the LH carrier bracket to the body, and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.
    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • T25 socket
  18. Release the clips (x2) that attach the LH carrier bracket to the body, and then partially release the bracket from the body.

    Note
    Install an air bag to hold the bracket away from body.
  19. Support the LH falcon wing door.

    CAUTION
    Place protection between the stand and door.
  20. Disconnect the LH falcon wing door front and rear strut electrical connectors (x4).
  21. Release the front and rear LH primary rear door struts from the body.

    Release the C-clip while pulling the strut away from the ball joint.

    Do not fully remove the C-clip from the strut.

    Note
    Make sure the strut is not under tension by overextending the LH rear door over the center spine; be careful not to damage the RH rear door.
  22. With assistance, carefully remove the bolts (x4) that attach the LH front rear door spring cover bracket to the vehicle, and then remove the front rear door spring from the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    Warning
    Make sure the spring is not under tension by overextending the LH rear door over the center spine; be careful not to damage the RH rear door.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • T25 socket
  23. With assistance, remove the upper door bolts (x2) and spring bolts (x3) that attach the LH front primary rear door hinge to the vehicle, and then pivot the hinge through the spine and upper door to remove it from the vehicle.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)
    37.5 Nm (27.7 lbs-ft)

    Note
    The upper door bolts (x2) are torqued to 24 Nm. The spine bolts (x3) are torqued to 37.5 Nm.

    Overextend the LH rear door over the center spine; be careful not to damage the RH rear door.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket

Install

  1. With assistance, pivot the LH front primary rear door hinge through the spine and upper door to position it into the vehicle, and then install the upper door bolts (x2) and spring bolts (x3) that attach the hinge to the vehicle.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)
    37.5 Nm (27.7 lbs-ft)

    Note
    The upper door bolts (x2) are torqued to 24 Nm. The spine bolts (x3) are torqued to 37.5 Nm.

    Overextend the LH rear door over the center spine; be careful not to damage the RH rear door.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  2. Position the LH front rear door spring into the vehicle.

    Note
    Make sure the door spring is fully inserted into the primary hinge groove.
  3. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the LH front rear door spring cover bracket to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • T25 socket
  4. Install the front and rear LH primary rear door struts to the body.

    Note
    Overextend the LH rear door over the center spine; be careful not to damage the RH rear door.

    Align the strut to the ball joint and secure the C-clip.

    Perform a push-pull test to confirm the struts are fully installed.
  5. Connect the LH falcon wing door front and rear strut electrical connectors (x4).
  6. Remove the support stand.
  7. Secure the clips (x2) that attach the LH carrier bracket to the body.

    Note
    Remove the air bag as necessary.
  8. Position the LH carrier bracket into the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) and secure the clips (x2) that attach the bracket to the body.
    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • T25 socket
  9. Install the inner nuts (x2) that attach the LH carrier bracket to the body.
    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
  10. Position the LH hinge trim cover onto the vehicle, and then install the bolt that attaches the cover to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
  11. Calibrate the rear doors.

    Note
    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  12. Install the LH upper racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the LH falcon wing door primary strut covers (x2).
  14. Install the LH lower racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Install the LH rear racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the LH front racetrack trim. See Racetrack Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the center spine applique. See Applique - Spine - Center (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the LH upper rear door glass assembly. See Door Glass Assembly - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace)
  19. Position the center spine closeout panel into the vehicle, and then secure the clips (x2) that attach the harness to the front of the center spine closeout panel.
  20. Install the bolts (x8) that attach center spine closeout panel to the vehicle.
    3.5 Nm (2.6 lbs-ft)

    Do not allow closing plate to hang on harness
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  21. Secure the clips (x3) that attach the harness to the center spine closeout panel.
  22. Connect the LH and RH EM controller electrical connectors (x4).

  23. Install the headliner. See Headliner (Remove and Install).
  24. Install the LH lower B-pillar trim. See Trim - B-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
