Brake Rotor - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace)

Note
If only a single rotor needs replacing (due to damage), the corresponding axle rotor must be measured for runout and thickness. See Brake Rotor - Rear - LH (Measure Runout).

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Release the LH park brake caliper through Toolbox. See Park Brake Caliper - Release - Toolbox.
  4. Remove the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  5. Release the red locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical harness from the LH rear brake caliper motor connector.
  6. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the rear brake caliper to the rear knuckle, and then let the caliper hang from the body with an S-hook.
    115 Nm (84.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E18

    Note
    Route the caliper hose so that it does not get caught on the rear stabilizer bar.
  7. If installed, remove and discard the bolt that attaches the LH rotor to the hub.

    Some vehicles may not have this fastener installed from the factory.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  8. Remove the LH rotor from the rear knuckle.

Install

  1. Position the LH rear rotor onto the rear knuckle.
  2. Clean the surfaces of the LH rear rotor with brake cleaner, and then wipe the surface clean with a lint-free towel.
  3. If a Mando caliper, perform these additional substeps.
    1. Remove the brake pads from the caliper.
    2. Use needle-nose pliers to ensure that the slots in the rear brake caliper piston face are at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock positions.
    3. Install the brake pads into the caliper.
  4. Install the rear brake caliper to the knuckle, and then secure the caliper with bolts (x2).
    115 Nm (84.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • External Torx E18
  5. Connect the LH EPB caliper electrical connector.

    Note
    Fully seat the electrical connector, and then engage the locking tab.
  6. Install the LH rear wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Hold brake pedal, and shift into Park on the touchscreen to disable EPB service mode.
  8. Install the IP service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  9. Lower the vehicle from the 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  10. Burnish the brake pads. See Brake Pads - Burnishing
