Hood Assembly (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the LH and RH hood sprung bumpers. See Bumper - Sprung - Hood (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH and RH and overslam bumpers.

    Unscrew the overslam bumper counterclockwise.
  4. Remove the hood striker. See Striker - Hood (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the hood aero seal. See Aero Seal - Hood (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the hood to the LH hood hinge.

    13 mm. Torque 24 Nm.
  7. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the hood to the RH hood hinge.

    13 mm. Torque 24 Nm.
  8. With an assistant, remove the hood from the vehicle and place it on a padded surface.

Install

CAUTION
If using this procedure to install an unpainted part, make sure to apply seam sealer to all seams prior to installing and painting the part. Refer to the Collision Repair manual for more information.
  1. With an assistant, install the hood.

    Note
    Position the two threaded studs on each side of the hood into the LH and RH hinges.
  2. Hand tighten the nuts (x4) that attach the hood to the LH and RH hood hinges.

    Secure the nuts enough to hold the hood while loose enough to make adjustments, if needed.

    Tightening of the nuts will be performed later in this procedure.
  3. Install the hood aero seal. See Aero Seal - Hood (Remove and Replace).
  4. Install the hood striker. See Striker - Hood (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the LH and RH overslam bumpers

    Install the overslam bumpers clockwise.
  6. Install the LH and RH hood sprung bumpers. See Bumper - Sprung - Hood (Remove and Replace).
  7. Close the hood.
  8. Check the hood gap/flush fit between body panels and headlights and adjust as necessary.

  9. Open the hood.
  10. Tighten the nuts (x4) that attach the hood to the LH and RH hood hinges.

  11. Close the hood.
