Applique - Roof - Rear (Remove and Replace)

CAUTION
For Europe only: Only technicians who have been trained in working with diisocyanates and have completed all required certification courses are permitted to perform procedures using urethane and other products containing diisocyanates. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when working with products containing diisocyanates.

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH front window.
  3. Open the LH and RH falcon wing doors.
  4. Open the liftgate.
  5. Apply masking tape onto the vehicle areas surrounding the rear roof applique to prevent damages.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Masking tape
  6. Release the front and rear seals from the rear roof applique.

    Note
    Move the 2nd row seats forward if space is needed.
  7. Starting from one corner, use a cutting blade to cut through the urethane until the rear roof applique is loose, and then remove the applique from the liftgate.

    CAUTION
    Close the liftgate to fully remove the applique to prevent damages.

    Note
    Lubricate the applique with soapy water as needed during removal.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Equalizer hydroblade
    • Plastic trim tool
  8. Remove any excess urethane from the liftgate.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Winged scraper set - 1080601-00-A
  9. Use IPA wipes to clean the liftgate surface area. Allow 1 minute dry time.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • IPA wipes
  10. Remove the masking tape from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Apply primer onto the rear roof applique. Allow primer to dry before applying urethane.
  2. Cut the urethane applicator tip 6 mm wide by 13 mm long.
  3. Apply urethane onto the rear roof applique.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Caulk and adhesive gun
  4. Peel off the adhesive backing from the rear roof applique, position the applique on the vehicle, and then install the clips (x3) that attach the applique to the liftgate.

    Note
    Apply firm and even pressure along the entirety of the applique during installation.
  5. Close the liftgate.
  6. Close the LH and RH falcon wing doors.
  7. Check the rear roof applique gap and flush measurements.

  8. Raise the LH front window.
  9. Close the LH front door.
