Seat Assembly - 1st Row - RH (Remove and Install)

Remove

  1. Open the front doors and lower the front windows.
  2. Move the 1st row RH seat forward.
  3. Use a flathead screwdriver to rotate the lock mechanism on the front seat belt linkage counterclockwise to release it from the pretensioner, and then slide the linkage off the pretensioner and set it aside.

    DO NOT rotate clockwise to avoid damage to the mechanism.

    The lock screw will remain in the horizontal position when released.

    A light audible click will be heard when the linkage is released.
  4. Open the RH falcon wing door.
  5. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the rear of the 1st row RH seat tracks to the vehicle.
    34 Nm (25.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
  6. Move 1st row RH seat rearward.
  7. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the front of the 1st row RH seat tracks to the vehicle.
    34 Nm (25.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
  8. Move the 1st row RH seat to the middle of the track and the seat back to the most upright position.
  9. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  10. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  11. Position the 1st row RH seat to gain access to the underside of the seat.
  12. Release the clip that attaches the RH side body harness to the 1st row RH seat assembly, and then disconnect the RH side body harness electrical connectors (x2) from the seat controller.

    Note
    Release the red locking tab on the black connector before disconnecting the connector.
  13. With assistance, remove the 1st row RH seat from the vehicle.

    CAUTION
    Take care not to damage the surrounding components.

Install

  1. With assistance, position the 1st row RH seat into the vehicle.

    Take care not to damage the surrounding components while lifting the seat into the vehicle.
  2. Secure the clip that attaches the RH side body harness to the seat assembly, connect the RH side body harness electrical connectors (x2) to the seat controller, and then secure the connector lock.
  3. With assistance, move the 1st row RH seat to the upright position.
  4. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  6. Move the 1st row RH seat forward.
  7. Install the front seat belt linkage to the pretensioner:
    1. Make sure the lock screw is in the horizontal position. If the lock screw is not in the horizontal position, follow the release instructions to unlock it.
    2. Verify there are no twists in the seat belt from the upper B-pillar trim to the pretensioner.
    3. Install the linkage onto the pretensioner cable.

      The lock screw will rotate back to the locked position.
    4. Perform a firm pull test on the seat belt with at least 15 pounds of force.
  8. Install new bolts (x2) that attach the rear of the 1st row RH seat seat tracks to the vehicle.
    34 Nm (25.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
  9. Move the 1st row RH seat rearward.
  10. Install new bolts (x2) that attach the front of the 1st row RH seat seat tracks to the vehicle.
    34 Nm (25.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
  11. Move 1st row RH seat to the original position.
  12. Close the RH front door.
  13. Calibrate the rear doors.

    Note
    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  14. Connect a laptop with Toolbox3 to the vehicle.
  15. In Toolbox, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and then search for "Calibration".
  16. Click PROC_VCSEATP_SEAT-CALIBRATESearch for routine in ToolboxVCSEAT Passenger Seat Calibration, and then click Run and allow the routine to complete.

    Verify that no items are on seat during the routine.

    Click the X at the top right of the window to close once complete.
  17. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
