Switch - Brake Light (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Move the driver seat fully rearwards.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the LH front floor mat.
- Remove the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver knee airbag as an assembly from the instrument panel. However, do not remove the knee airbag cover brace from the airbag assembly. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver inboard jumper duct. See Duct - Jumper - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace.

Disconnect the accelerator pedal
electrical connector.
NotePull the red tab to disengage lock, and then pull the red tab again to release the electrical connector. Do not push down on the red tab.

Remove the screw that attaches the
accelerator pedal to the assembly, and then release the accelerator pedal downwards out
of the assembly slots (x2).Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket

Remove the top clip that attaches the brake light switch electrical harness to the
pedal assembly.

Release the brake light switch.
NoteBrake light switch is located at the top of pedal assembly.NoteRotate the brake light switch counterclockwise 45 degrees, and then remove from brake pedal assembly.

Disconnect the brake light switch
electrical connector, and then remove the brake light switch from the vehicle.
NoteMake sure the brake light switch is in neutral position: The switch piston should have no spring resistance.
Install

Inspect the brake light switch.
NoteMake sure the brake switch is in the neutral position before installation. Gently rotate the tab into neutral position, if not set.

Connect the brake light switch
electrical connector.

Install the brake light switch.
NoteDo not press the brake pedal during installation.NoteRotate the brake light switch clockwise until it is in the locked position and flush to brake pedal assembly.

Install the top clip that attaches the
brake light switch electrical harness to the pedal assembly.

Secure the accelerator pedal into the
assembly slots (x2), and then install the screw that attaches the accelerator pedal to
the pedal assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket

Connect the accelerator pedal
electrical connector.
NoteMake sure the lock is fully engaged.
- Install the driver inboard jumper duct. See Duct - Jumper - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace.
- Install the driver knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Install the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Install the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH front floor mat.
- Reconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).

Calibrate the rear doors.
NoteIf the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors
- Move the driver seat to its original position.
