Actuator - Headrest - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH and RH falcon wing doors.
  2. Open the liftgate.
  3. Fold the 2nd row 40 and 60 seats downward.
  4. Remove the rear trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the rear trunk floor NVH insulator. See NVH Insulator - Floor - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the rear trunk carpet. See Carpet - Rear Trunk (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Fold the LH and RH 3rd row seats downward.
  8. Remove the LH 3rd row seat back carpet. See Seat Back Carpet - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Release the tabs (x4), fir tree clips (x2), and J hook that attach the lower section of the LH 3rd row seat upholstery to the seat.

    Pull the tabs inward, and then upwards to release.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  10. Disconnect the LH 3rd row seat connectors (x2), and then re-route the connectors through the lower section of the upholstery.
  11. Route the LH 3rd row seat connectors (x2) around the lower section of the upholstery, and then connect the connectors.
  12. Unfold the LH 3rd row seat to original position.

    Leave the seat headrest in the folded position.
  13. Release the J-hook clip that attaches the upper half of the LH 3rd row seat upholstery to the seat.
  14. From the 3rd row, pull the inner portion of the seat cover and foam outward to gain access to the LH 3rd row headrest actuator.

    CAUTION
    Use caution to not snag the J-hooks. The actuator is located on the front side of the seat back under the upholstery and cushion assembly.

    Note
    Use the fold function to feed the bottom of the seat upholstery forward.
  15. Disconnect the LH 3rd row headrest actuator connector.

    Depress both of the locking tabs on the side of the connector to release.

    Note
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 6 in 90 degree tip miniature soft grip pick
  16. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the LH 3rd row headrest actuator to the seat frame.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T25 socket
  17. Turn the LH 3rd row headrest actuator to gain access to the headrest release cable, and then slide the cable towards the base of the actuator.
  18. Rotate the LH 3rd row headrest actuator upwards, remove the actuator from the headrest release cable, and then remove the actuator from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the LH 3rd row headrest actuator on the vehicle, install the headrest release cable at the base of the actuator, and then slide the cable to the end of the actuator to lock the cable on the actuator.
  2. Install the screws (x2) that attach the LH 3rd row headrest actuator to the seat frame.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T25 socket
  3. Connect the LH 3rd row headrest actuator connector.
  4. Fold the seat upholstery and cushion assembly over the seat frame.

    Use the folding function to assist with tucking the upholstery.
  5. Engage the J hook clip that attaches the upper half of LH 3rd row seat upholstery to the seat.

    Fold the seat to a workable position, start at one end of the J hook clip, and then fold the clip inwards until the other end of the upholstery is fully tucked.
  6. Disconnect the LH 3rd row seat connectors (x2), and then route the connectors through the seat upholstery.
  7. Connect the LH 3rd row seat connectors (x2).
  8. Engage the tabs (x4), fir tree clips (x2), and J hook that attach the lower section of the LH 3rd row seat upholstery to the seat.
  9. Install the LH 3rd row seat back carpet. See Seat Back Carpet - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Install the rear trunk carpet. See Carpet - Rear Trunk (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  11. Install the rear trunk floor NVH insulator. See NVH Insulator - Floor - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the rear trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  13. Unfold the LH and RH 3rd row seats into original position.
  14. Close the liftgate.
  15. Unfold the 2nd row 40 and 60 seats into original position.
  16. Close the LH and RH falcon wing doors.
