    Note
Machine will chime once the process is complete.
  6. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  7. Turn off the A/C and Blower motor.
  8. Place the vehicle in Service Mode by using the touchscreen. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
  9. On the touchscreen, tap Service Mode > DIAGNOSTICS > Thermal, authorize the routines by holding the right turn signal and depressing the brake pedal for 10 seconds with a key on the phone dock, then tap Refrigerant System > Start Refrigerant Fill/Drain, select Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  10. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  11. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  12. Perform A/C refrigerant recovery. See Recovery.
Warning IconA warning icon, calling your attention to a possibly risky situation
    Warning
Make sure there is no pressure in the A/C system before performing the following steps. Failure to do so may result in damage to components and/or personal injury.
  13. Remove and discard the dust cap from the accumulator.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket
  14. Use snap ring pliers to remove and discard the accumulator cap snap ring.

  16. Use needle nose pliers to remove the desiccant cartridge from the accumulator.
  17. Weigh the desiccant cartridge and record the value. This is considered the "wet weight."
  18. Determine the "dry weight" of the desiccant bag: Inspect the bag for a label that contains the Part Number (P), Serial Number (S), and Dry Weight (W). If the label is missing, or if the dry weight is not visible, assume the dry weight is 90.4 grams.
  19. Subtract the dry weight from the wet weight. This is the amount of oil that must be added to the system in addition to the oil that was removed during refrigerant recovery. Note this amount for later.

Install

  1. Prepare desiccant service kit.

    The kit contains the following:

    • Desiccant Cartridge (1539844-00-C) x1
    • Accumulator Cap (1500490-00-B) x1
    • Retaining ring (1541626-00-A) x1
    • Dust cover (1541624-00-A) x1
