Harness - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Open all four doors.
- Lower the LH and RH front windows.
- Remove the center console assembly. See Center Console Assembly - 1st Row (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH and RH instrument panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH and RH middle A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH instrument panel LH middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver knee airbag. However, do not remove the components from the knee airbag assembly after the assembly has been removed from the instrument panel. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH sun visor bezel A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH upper A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Adjust the steering column fully rearward and fully down.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the RH front door sill trim panel. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).

Fold the RH front cabin carpet aside
for access.

Release the clip that attaches the
electrical harness to the RH footrest panel.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) and nuts (x2)
that attach the RH footrest panel to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Remove the RH footrest panel from the
vehicle.
NoteFold the RH primary support carpet up, and then rotate the footrest panel out of the vehicle.
- Remove the RH sun visor bezel A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH upper A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the instrument panel service panel from the center console as an assembly. However, do not remove the cabin temperature sensor fan from the service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the touchscreen. See Touchscreen (HW3) (Remove and Replace) or Touchscreen (HW4) (Remove and Replace).

Release the tabs (x4) that attach the
instrument panel closeout panel to the instrument panel, and then remove the closeout
panel from the instrument panel.
- Remove the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the front passenger knee airbag as an assembly. However, do not remove the components from the knee airbag assembly after the assembly has been removed from the instrument panel. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the front passenger instrument panel duct. See Duct - Instrument Panel - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
instrument panel carrier cross beam.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Disconnect the front passenger airbag
electrical connectors (x3).
NotePull down the spring loaded locks simultaneously to release the airbag electrical connectors.

Remove the RH lower instrument panel
screws (x3).Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 bit
-
Remove the center lower instrument
panel screws (x6).Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 bit
-
Remove the LH lower instrument panel
screws (x3).Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 bit

Release the instrument cluster
electrical harness clip, and then disconnect the electrical connector.

Release the instrument panel trim
electrical harness, and then disconnect the electrical connector.
-
Position the lower instrument panel
assembly away from the instrument panel sub-assembly.
NoteDatums (x6).NoteMove the top edge as far rearward as possible without excessive stress on the assembly.

Release the instrument panel ground
harness clip, and then remove the ground harness bolt.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
NoteTake note of the harness routing behind the RH touchscreen bracket. -
With an assistant, remove the
instrument panel sub-assembly.
NoteSlide the instrument panel sub-assembly rearward, and then lift the assembly up from the instrument panel carrier.NoteMake sure the airwave vents and front passenger airbag are clear of lower instrument panel assembly.NoteRemove the instrument panel sub-assembly out through the RH front door.
- Remove the driver instrument panel duct. See Duct - Instrument Panel - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the steering column upper shroud. See Shroud - Upper - Steering Column (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the steering column lower shroud. See Shroud - Lower - Steering Column (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the lower instrument panel. See Instrument Panel - Lower (Remove and Replace).

Release the clips (x4) that attach the
instrument panel electrical harness at the LH and RH touchscreen brackets.

Release the clips (x2) that attach the
instrument panel electrical harness to the center of the instrument panel carrier.
NoteOnce the clips are released, maneuver the instrument panel electrical harness behind both touchscreen brackets into the front passenger side footwell.

Release the clips (x4) that attach the
instrument panel electrical harness to the RH side of the instrument panel
carrier.
-
Release the clips (x3) that attach the
instrument panel electrical harness to the J12 x055 dash connector at the RH body
controller, and then disconnect the electrical connector.
NoteRelease the lock, and then remove.

Disconnect the instrument panel
electrical harness connector X873 at the top RH side of the car computer gaming
board.
NoteRelease the lock on the electrical connector before removal.
-
Disconnect the car computer electrical
connector.
CAUTIONPress the lock on the underside of the electrical connector before pulling out of the socket. Possible damage to the PCBA may occur if removed without releasing lock first.

Disconnect the instrument panel
electrical harness connectors at the LH side of the car computer (x5).
NoteRelease the locks on the electrical connectors before removal.

Release the clips (x5) that attach the
instrument panel electrical harness to the lower center of the instrument panel
carrier.

Release the clips (x3) that attach the
glove box USB cable to the instrument panel carrier.
-
Release the clips (x3) that attach the
instrument panel electrical harness at the upper center of the instrument panel
carrier.
-
Release the clips (x3) that attach the
instrument panel electrical harness to the LH center side of the instrument panel
carrier.

Disconnect the steering column control
module electrical connector.
NoteRemove the retaining clip on the electrical connector, then release the electrical connector, and then remove the remaining broken clip the electrical connector.NoteDiscard the retaining clip after removal.NoteOriginally installed clip is black; replacement clip is orange.

Release the clips (x5) that attach the
instrument panel electrical harness to J12 x035 dash connector at the LH body
controller, and then disconnect the electrical connector.
NoteRelease the lock, and then remove.

Disconnect the instrument panel
electrical harness connector x947F.
NoteRelease the locking tab before removal.

Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
instrument panel cowl link.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
NoteOnly remove the bolts from the instrument panel carrier and the HVAC assembly. -
Remove the instrument panel electrical
harness from the vehicle.
NoteManeuver the RH side of the harness underneath the instrument panel cowl link, and then maneuver the LH side of the harness up and over the steering column.
Install
-
Install the instrument panel harness
into the vehicle.
NoteManeuver the RH side of the harness underneath the instrument panel cowl link down into passenger footwell, and then maneuver the LH side of the harness up and over the steering column down into the driver footwell.

Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
instrument panel cowl link.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
NoteDatums (x2) -
Fasten the clips (x5) that attach the
instrument panel harness to the J12 x035 Dash connector at the LH body controller, and
then connect the electrical connector.

Connect the instrument panel harness
electrical connector x947F.
NoteSecure the locking tab after installation.
-
Connect the steering column control
module electrical connector.
NoteInstall a new orange retaining clip to electrical connector, and then install the steering column control module connector. Perform a push-pull-push to make sure connector is seated properly.

Fasten the clips (x3) that attach the
instrument panel harness to the LH center of the instrument panel carrier.
-
Fasten the clips (x3) that attach the
instrument panel harness at the upper center of the instrument panel carrier.
-
Fasten the clips (x5) that attach the
instrument panel harness to the lower center of the instrument panel carrier.
-
Fasten the clips (x3) that attach the
glove box USB cable to the instrument panel carrier.
-
Connect the instrument panel harness
electrical connectors (x5) at the LH side of the car computer.
-
Connect the car computer electrical
connector.
NoteConfirm the connector is locked into the socket.
-
Fasten the clips (x4) that attach the
instrument panel harness to the RH side of the instrument panel carrier.

Fasten the clips (x3) that attach the
instrument panel harness to J12 x055 Dash connector at the RH body controller, and then
connect the electrical connector.

Connect the instrument panel harness
connector x873 at the top RH side of the car computer.
-
Fasten the clips (x2) that attach the
instrument panel harness to the center of the instrument panel carrier.
NoteManeuver the instrument panel harness behind both touchscreen brackets into position.

Fasten the clips (x4) that attach the
instrument panel harness at the LH and RH touchscreen brackets.

Fasten the tabs (x8), and then install
the screws (x3) that attach the lower instrument panel.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 bit
NoteSecure only the screws located at the bottom of the assembly. The remainder of screws are fastened at a later step. - Install the steering column lower shroud. See Shroud - Lower - Steering Column (Remove and Replace).
- Install the steering column upper shroud. See Shroud - Upper - Steering Column (Remove and Replace).
- Install the driver instrument panel duct. See Duct - Instrument Panel - Driver (Remove and Replace).

With an assistant, install the
instrument panel sub-assembly.
NoteSlide the instrument panel sub-assembly into the vehicle.NoteMake sure the front passenger airbag and the driver vent assembly have clearance past the lower instrument panel assembly.NoteEngage the instrument panel sub-assembly datums into the dash slots.

Install the bolt that attaches the
instrument panel ground harness.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
NoteClip (x1).NoteRoute behind the touchscreen RH bracket. -
Connect the instrument panel trim
harness electrical connector.

Connect the instrument cluster harness
electrical connector.

Position the lower instrument panel
assembly into the instrument panel sub-assembly.

Install the LH lower instrument panel
screws (x3).Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 bit

Install the center lower instrument
panel screws (x6).Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 bit

Install the RH lower instrument panel
screws (x3).Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T20 bit
- Install the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).

Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
instrument panel carrier cross beam.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Connect the front passenger airbag
electrical connectors (x3).
- Install the front passenger instrument panel duct. See Duct - Instrument Panel - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).

Install the RH footrest panel.
NoteRotate the RH footrest panel into the vehicle. Fold the RH primary support carpet down.

Install the bolts (x2) and nuts (x2)
that attach the RH footrest panel to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Fasten the electrical harness clip to
the RH footrest panel.
-
Fold the RH main carpet back into
place.
- Install the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
- Install the front passenger knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH front sill. panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH upper A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH sun visor bezel A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).

Fasten the tabs (x4) that attach the
IP closeout panel.
- Install the touchscreen. See Touchscreen (HW3) (Remove and Replace) or Touchscreen (HW4) (Remove and Replace).
- Install the instrument panel service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH upper A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH sun visor bezel A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the driver knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
- Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Reconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Install the center console assembly. See Center Console Assembly - 1st Row (Remove and Install).
- Adjust the steering column back to its original position.
- Calibrate the LH and RH rear doors by holding each upper B-pillar button in the down position.
- Close the RH front door.
- Raise the LH and RH front windows.
- Close the LH front door.
