LV Maintainer (Connect and Disconnect)

Connect

  1. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  3. Set the LV maintainer into the underhood storage unit.

    CAUTION
    Do not plug in or power on the LV maintainer at this time.
  4. Remove the jump post cover from the jump post located behind the multi-system beam.
  5. Place a clean shop towel between the multi-system beam and the jump post.
  6. Route the red positive clamp of the LV maintainer between the brake fluid reservoir and the wiper module, and then attach the positive clamp to the jump post.
  7. Route the black negative clamp of the LV maintainer to the right of the brake fluid reservoir, and then attach the negative clamp to the multi-system beam.
  8. Make sure that the cables of the LV maintainer are not in the way, will not catch on components, or will be damaged.
  9. Connect the LV maintainer to an energized outlet, and then power on the LV maintainer.

    CAUTION
    The LV maintainer and LV battery should never be simultaneously connected for an extended period.
  10. Lift up on the LV battery connector locking tab, slide the black connector shroud to release, and then pull up on the connector to disconnect from the LV battery.

    Do not disconnect the First Responder Loop.
  11. If a separate procedure required the LV maintainer to be connected, return to that procedure.

Disconnect

  1. Press the LV battery electrical connector down onto the LV battery, slide the black connector shroud to engage, and then push down the connector locking tab to secure the connector to the LV battery.

    Note
    If the locking tab does not seat, the connector or connector shroud is not fully engaged.
  2. Power off the LV maintainer, and then disconnect the LV maintainer from the outlet.
  3. Remove the black negative clamp of the LV maintainer from the multi-system beam.
  4. Remove the red positive clamp of the LV maintainer from the jump post.
  5. Remove the shop towel from between the multi-system beam and the jump post.
  6. Install the jump post cover onto the jump post.
  7. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Diagnostics > Battery > LV Battery, and verify that for the LV Battery, the SOC is above 73%, and for the HV Battery, the BMS State is Support.

    Note
    If the SOC is 73% or lower, in Garage, make sure Vitals > Vehicle > 12V Battery Current is positive.
  8. If a procedure required the LV maintainer to be disconnected, return to that procedure, otherwise continue to the next step.
  9. Remove the LV maintainer from the underhood storage unit.
  10. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  11. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
