Pipe - Brake Junction to Jounce - RH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
  3. Move the front passenger seat fully rearwards.
  4. Remove the RH front floor mat.
  5. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the RH console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the RH front sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Fold the RH front cabin carpet aside for access.
  12. Release the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the RH footrest panel.
  13. Remove the bolts (x2) and nuts (x2) that attach the RH footrest panel to the body.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  14. Remove the RH footrest panel.

    Note
    Fold the RH primary support carpet up. Rotate and then remove the RH footrest panel out of the vehicle.
  15. Remove the RH HEPA assembly lower dash bolt.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  16. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  17. Move the driver seat fully rearwards.
  18. Open the hood.
  19. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  20. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  21. Remove the LH front floor mat.
  22. Remove the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  23. Remove the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the LH console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  25. Remove the driver knee airbag as an assembly from the instrument panel. However, do not remove the knee airbag cover brace from the airbag assembly. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  26. Disconnect the accelerator pedal electrical connector.

    Pull the red tab to disengage the lock, and then pull the tab again to release the electrical connector. Do not push down on the red tab.
  27. Remove the screw that attaches the accelerator pedal to the pedal assembly.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T30 socket

    Release the accelerator pedal downwards out of the assembly slots.
  28. Release the LH HEPA assembly lower dash bolt.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  29. Remove all wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  30. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  31. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  32. Remove the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  33. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  34. Remove the LH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
  35. Remove the RH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - RH (Remove and Replace).
  36. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  37. Remove the wiper module. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
  38. Remove the LV battery. See Battery - LV (Remove and Replace).
  39. Remove the bolt that attaches the front controller ground cable.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  40. Release the bolts (x3) that attach the RH FST cap to the superbeam.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  41. Release the bolt that attaches the RH FST cap to the shock tower, and then remove it from the vehicle.
    14 Nm (10.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket

    Note
    Release keyed ground strap from the RH FST cap after removal.
  42. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the wiper mount bracket, and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.
    25 Nm (18.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket

    Note
    Slide the bracket towards the RH shock tower along the superbeam to clear the HEPA filter housing.
  43. Disconnect the air quality sensor electrical connector.
  44. Release the tabs (x2) that attach the HEPA filter assembly cover, and then remove the cover.
  45. Release the clips (x2) that attach the HEPA filter, and then remove the filter.

    Release the clips, and then pivot the filter forward and out of the housing.
  46. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the remote brake fluid reservoir to the LH FST cap.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

    Rotate the reservoir with bracket out of the LH FST cap.
  47. Release the clip, and then remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LH FST cap to the superbeam.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  48. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH FST cap to the shock tower, and then remove the cap from the vehicle.
    14 Nm (10.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  49. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the HEPA housing assembly.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  50. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the superbeam to the body.
    60 Nm (44.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
  51. With an assistant, move the superbeam forward.

    Lift and move the superbeam forward and rest it on the front shock tower.
  52. Remove the HEPA filter housing.

    Rotate up and forward around the repositioned superbeam.
  53. Disconnect the battery coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.

    Disengage the red locking tab, and then slide the tab outwards to release the connector.
  54. Disconnect the battery coolant pump electrical connector.

  55. Release the battery coolant pump from the mounting bracket.
  56. Remove the front body controller module. See Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace).
  57. Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove the brake reservoir cap.
  58. Remove the brake fluid from the brake reservoir.

  59. Install the brake reservoir cap.
  60. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the remote reservoir coupling hose from the brake reservoir.

    Hold the hose upwards to avoid spilling brake fluid.
  61. Disconnect the brake booster ECU electrical connector.

    Release the red locking tab, and then press the black tab and rotate the lever to release the electrical connector.
  62. Disconnect the DTS position sensor from the brake booster assembly.

  63. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.

    Pull the red tab to disengage the lock, and then pull again to release the electrical connector. Do not push down on the red tab.
  64. Remove the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  65. Disconnect the LH front repeater electrical connectors (x2).
  66. Release the clip that attaches the LH repeater electrical harness to the body.
  67. Disconnect the ground junction connector G500.

    Release the red locking tab. Press the black tab and rotate the lever to release it.
  68. Remove the bolt that attaches the junction ground terminal to the body.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  69. Disconnect the hydraulic control unit electrical connector.

    Release the red locking tab, and then rotate the lever upwards to remove it.
  70. Pull the HCU ECU harness and connector through the body into the wheelwell.
  71. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the HCU bracket.
    8.5 Nm (6.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  72. Put shop towels underneath the brake lines to catch any brake fluid that may leak.
  73. Remove the flexible brake lines (x2) from the master cylinder.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
  74. Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the 4-tube bundle brake lines to the HCU.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
  75. Release the brake line retainers (x2) from the underside of the HCU bundle.
  76. Release the brake lines from the LH side of the HCU bundle.

    Support and shift the HCU with one hand while using the side access hole to release the lines.
  77. Remove the HCU, bracket, and MCYL to HCU brake lines from vehicle as an assembly.

    Rotate and lift assembly up along the brake booster while shifting 4-tube brake lines aside.

    Take care not to bend the brake lines.
  78. Release the tab that attaches the upper end of the HVAC drain hose to the funnel, and then set the hose aside.
  79. Disengage the clips (x4) that attach the frunk harness to the body.
  80. Place absorbent material such as a shop towel underneath the front brake pipe junction block to catch any brake fluid lost.
  81. Place absorbent material such as a shop towel underneath the front end of the RH front brake pipe to catch any brake fluid lost.
  82. Loosen the nuts (x2) at the rear end of the LH and RH front brake pipes.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
  83. Remove the nut that attaches the front junction block to the body.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

    Use a pick up tool to avoid dropping the nut.
  84. Loosen the nuts (x2) at the rear end of the LH and RH front brake pipes.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head

    Release the brake pipes from the junction block at a later step.
  85. Remove the front brake pipe assembly:
    1. Release the junction block from the body studs (x2).
    2. Release the LH and RH pipes from the junction block.
    3. Route the junction block around the steering column.
  86. Disconnect the front end of RH front brake pipe from the jounce hose.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
  87. Remove the clip that attaches the battery supply hose to the RH side of frunk harness.
  88. Release the RH brake junction to jounce pipe from the clips (x5).

    Do not bend the brake pipe.
  89. Move the rear end of the RH front brake pipe in front of the LH brake pipe.
  90. With an assistant, remove the RH brake junction to jounce pipe from the vehicle:
    1. Lift the RH side of the superbeam and guide the brake pipe over the body.
    2. Guide the brake pipe behind and under the battery hose.
    3. Guide the brake pipe under the air line bundle.

    Do not bend the brake pipe.

Install

  1. With an assistant, position the RH brake junction to jounce pipe:
    1. Guide the pipe under the air line bundle.
    2. Guide the pipe under and behind the battery hose.
    3. Guide the pipe in front of the frunk harness.
    4. Lift the RH side of superbeam, and then guide the pipe under the superbeam.

    Do not bend the brake pipe.
  2. Move the rear end of the RH brake junction to jounce pipe behind the LH pipe.
  3. Secure the RH brake junction to jounce pipe with clips (x5).

  4. Install the clip that attaches the battery supply hose to the RH side of the frunk harness.
  5. Install the nut that attaches the front end of the brake pipe onto the jounce hose.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
  6. Position the front brake pipe assembly:
    1. Route the junction block around the steering column.
    2. Secure the LH and RH pipes onto the junction block.
    3. Secure the junction block onto the body studs (x2).
  7. Hand-tighten the nuts (x2) that attach the rear end of the LH and RH front brake pipes.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head

    Clean the brake lines with brake cleaner before mating as needed.

    Torque the nuts at a later step.
  8. Install the nut that attaches the front junction block to the body.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

    Use a pick up tool to avoid dropping the nut.
  9. Tighten the nuts (x2) at the rear end of the LH and RH front brake pipes.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
  10. Remove the absorbent material from underneath the front end of the RH front brake pipe.
  11. Remove the absorbent material from underneath the front brake pipe junction block.
  12. Secure the upper end of HVAC drain hose tab onto the funnel.
  13. Engage the clips (x4) that attach the frunk harness to the body.
  14. Install the HCU, bracket, and MCYL to HCU brake lines to the vehicle as an assembly.

    Rotate and lower the assembly down along the brake booster while shifting the 4-tube brake lines over.

  15. Secure the brake lines to the LH side of the HCU bundle.

  17. Push the HCU ECU harness and connector through the body into the frunk area.
  18. Connect the HCU electrical connector.

    Seat the connector, then rotate the lever downward, and then secure the locking tab.
  19. Remove the remaining protective tape, and then install the 4-tube bundle brake lines to the HCU.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    • 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head

  20. Install the flexible brake lines (x2) to the master cylinder.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    Clean the brake lines with brake cleaner before installation.
  21. Remove the shop towels from underneath the brake lines.

    Clean up any residual fluid lost.
  22. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the HCU bracket.
    8.5 Nm (6.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket

    Start to fasten bolts by hand to prevent cross-threading.
  23. Install the bolt that attaches the junction ground terminal to the body.
    15 Nm (11.1 lbs-ft)

  24. Connect the ground junction connector G500.

    Secure the red locking tab.
  25. Fasten the LH repeater electrical harness to the body.
  26. Connect the LH front repeater electrical connectors (x2).

    Support the repeater from the exterior to prevent damage to the retaining clips.
  27. Install the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  28. Connect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  29. Connect the DTS position sensor to the brake booster assembly.

    60 Nm (44.2 lbs-ft)

    Position the superbeam first, and then hand-tighten the bolts.
  39. Install the nuts (x2) that attach the HEPA housing assembly.

  44. Install the bolt that attaches the RH FST cap to the shock tower.

  45. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the RH FST cap to the superbeam.

  48. Fasten the clip, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the LH FST cap to the superbeam.
    22 Nm (16.2 lbs-ft)

  49. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the remote brake fluid reservoir to the LH FST cap.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)

  61. Connect the accelerator pedal electrical connector.

  63. Install the front passenger knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  64. Install the LH console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  65. Install the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  66. Install the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  67. Install the LH front floor mat.
  68. Reconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  69. Bleed the brakes. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush (Remove and Replace).
  70. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  71. Close the hood.
  72. Install all wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  73. Remove the vehicle from the lift.

    Remove the air suspension from "Jack Mode."
  74. Install the RH HEPA assembly lower dash bolt.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  75. Install the RH footrest panel.

    Note
    Rotate the RH footrest panel into the vehicle. Fold the RH primary support carpet down.
  76. Install the bolts (x2) and nuts (x2) that attach the RH footrest panel to the body.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  77. Fasten the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the RH footrest panel.
  78. Fold the RH main carpet back into place.
  79. Install the RH console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
  80. Install the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
  81. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  82. Install the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  83. Install the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  84. Install the RH front sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  85. Install the RH front floor mat.
  86. Restore the driver and front passenger seats back to their original position.
  87. Calibrate the rear doors.
