Pipe - Brake Junction to Jounce - RH (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Open the RH front door and lower the RH front window.
- Move the front passenger seat fully rearwards.
- Remove the RH front floor mat.
- Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH front sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).

Fold the RH front cabin carpet aside
for access.
-
Release the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the RH footrest panel.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) and nuts (x2) that attach the RH footrest panel to the
body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Remove the RH footrest panel.
NoteFold the RH primary support carpet up. Rotate and then remove the RH footrest panel out of the vehicle.
-
Remove the RH HEPA assembly lower dash bolt.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
- Move the driver seat fully rearwards.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the LH front floor mat.
- Remove the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the driver knee airbag as an assembly from the instrument panel. However, do not remove the knee airbag cover brace from the airbag assembly. See Knee Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).

Disconnect the accelerator pedal
electrical connector.
NotePull the red tab to disengage the lock, and then pull the tab again to release the electrical connector. Do not push down on the red tab.

Remove the screw that attaches the
accelerator pedal to the pedal assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket
NoteRelease the accelerator pedal downwards out of the assembly slots. -
Release the LH HEPA assembly lower
dash bolt.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
- Remove all wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the RH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - RH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the wiper module. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LV battery. See Battery - LV (Remove and Replace).

Remove the bolt that attaches the
front controller ground cable.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Release the bolts (x3) that attach the
RH FST cap to the superbeam.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Release the bolt that attaches the RH
FST cap to the shock tower, and then remove it from the vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
NoteRelease keyed ground strap from the RH FST cap after removal. -
Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the
wiper mount bracket, and then remove the bracket from the vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
NoteSlide the bracket towards the RH shock tower along the superbeam to clear the HEPA filter housing. -
Disconnect the air quality sensor
electrical connector.
-
Release the tabs (x2) that attach the
HEPA filter assembly cover, and then remove the cover.
-
Release the clips (x2) that attach the
HEPA filter, and then remove the filter.
NoteRelease the clips, and then pivot the filter forward and out of the housing.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
remote brake fluid reservoir to the LH FST cap.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
NoteRotate the reservoir with bracket out of the LH FST cap. -
Release the clip, and then remove the
bolts (x3) that attach the LH FST cap to the superbeam.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Remove the bolt that attaches the LH
FST cap to the shock tower, and then remove the cap from the vehicle.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
-
Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the
HEPA housing assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the
superbeam to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 15 mm socket
-
With an assistant, move the superbeam
forward.
NoteLift and move the superbeam forward and rest it on the front shock tower.
-
Remove the HEPA filter housing.
NoteRotate up and forward around the repositioned superbeam.
-
Disconnect the battery coolant
temperature sensor electrical connector.
NoteDisengage the red locking tab, and then slide the tab outwards to release the connector.
-
Disconnect the battery coolant pump
electrical connector.
NoteDisengage the red locking tab, and then slide the tab outwards to release the connector.
-
Release the battery coolant pump from
the mounting bracket.
- Remove the front body controller module. See Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Clean the area around the brake fluid reservoir, and then remove the brake reservoir cap.
-
Remove the brake fluid from the brake
reservoir.
NoteUse special tool 1541474-00-B - measure & fill kit.
- Install the brake reservoir cap.
-
Release the locking tab, and then
disconnect the remote reservoir coupling hose from the brake reservoir.
NoteHold the hose upwards to avoid spilling brake fluid.
-
Disconnect the brake booster ECU
electrical connector.
NoteRelease the red locking tab, and then press the black tab and rotate the lever to release the electrical connector.
-
Disconnect the DTS position sensor
from the brake booster assembly.
NoteRelease the red locking tab.
-
Disconnect the brake fluid level
sensor electrical connector.
NotePull the red tab to disengage the lock, and then pull again to release the electrical connector. Do not push down on the red tab.
- Remove the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).

Disconnect the LH front repeater
electrical connectors (x2).
-
Release the clip that attaches the LH
repeater electrical harness to the body.
-
Disconnect the ground junction
connector G500.
NoteRelease the red locking tab. Press the black tab and rotate the lever to release it.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the
junction ground terminal to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Disconnect the hydraulic control unit
electrical connector.
NoteRelease the red locking tab, and then rotate the lever upwards to remove it.
-
Pull the HCU ECU harness and connector
through the body into the wheelwell.
-
Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the
HCU bracket.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Put shop towels underneath the brake
lines to catch any brake fluid that may leak.
-
Remove the flexible brake lines (x2)
from the master cylinder.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
-
Remove the nuts (x4) that attach the
4-tube bundle brake lines to the HCU.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
-
Release the brake line retainers (x2)
from the underside of the HCU bundle.
-
Release the brake lines from the LH
side of the HCU bundle.
NoteRetainers (x2).NoteSupport and shift the HCU with one hand while using the side access hole to release the lines.
-
Remove the HCU, bracket, and MCYL to
HCU brake lines from vehicle as an assembly.
NoteRotate and lift assembly up along the brake booster while shifting 4-tube brake lines aside.CAUTIONTake care not to bend the brake lines.
-
Release the tab that attaches the
upper end of the HVAC drain hose to the funnel, and then set the hose aside.
-
Disengage the clips (x4) that attach
the frunk harness to the body.
-
Place absorbent material such as a
shop towel underneath the front brake pipe junction block to catch any brake fluid
lost.
-
Place absorbent material such as a
shop towel underneath the front end of the RH front brake pipe to catch any brake fluid
lost.
-
Loosen the nuts (x2) at the rear end
of the LH and RH front brake pipes.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
-
Remove the nut that attaches the front
junction block to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
NoteUse a pick up tool to avoid dropping the nut. -
Loosen the nuts (x2) at the rear end
of the LH and RH front brake pipes.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
NoteRelease the brake pipes from the junction block at a later step. -
Remove the front brake pipe
assembly:
- Release the junction block from the body studs (x2).
- Release the LH and RH pipes from the junction block.
- Route the junction block around the steering column.

Disconnect the front end of RH front
brake pipe from the jounce hose.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
-
Remove the clip that attaches the
battery supply hose to the RH side of frunk harness.
-
Release the RH brake junction to
jounce pipe from the clips (x5).
CAUTIONDo not bend the brake pipe.
-
Move the rear end of the RH front
brake pipe in front of the LH brake pipe.
-
With an assistant, remove the RH brake
junction to jounce pipe from the vehicle:
- Lift the RH side of the superbeam and guide the brake pipe over the body.
- Guide the brake pipe behind and under the battery hose.
- Guide the brake pipe under the air line bundle.
CAUTIONDo not bend the brake pipe.
Install
-
With an assistant, position the RH
brake junction to jounce pipe:
- Guide the pipe under the air line bundle.
- Guide the pipe under and behind the battery hose.
- Guide the pipe in front of the frunk harness.
- Lift the RH side of superbeam, and then guide the pipe under the superbeam.
CAUTIONDo not bend the brake pipe. -
Move the rear end of the RH brake
junction to jounce pipe behind the LH pipe.

Secure the RH brake junction to jounce
pipe with clips (x5).
CAUTIONDo not bend the brake pipe.
-
Install the clip that attaches the
battery supply hose to the RH side of the frunk harness.
-
Install the nut that attaches the
front end of the brake pipe onto the jounce hose.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
-
Position the front brake pipe
assembly:
- Route the junction block around the steering column.
- Secure the LH and RH pipes onto the junction block.
- Secure the junction block onto the body studs (x2).
-
Hand-tighten the nuts (x2) that attach
the rear end of the LH and RH front brake pipes.
Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
NoteClean the brake lines with brake cleaner before mating as needed.NoteTorque the nuts at a later step. -
Install the nut that attaches the
front junction block to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
NoteUse a pick up tool to avoid dropping the nut. -
Tighten the nuts (x2) at the rear end
of the LH and RH front brake pipes.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head

Remove the absorbent material from
underneath the front end of the RH front brake pipe.
-
Remove the absorbent material from
underneath the front brake pipe junction block.
-
Secure the upper end of HVAC drain
hose tab onto the funnel.
-
Engage the clips (x4) that attach the
frunk harness to the body.
-
Install the HCU, bracket, and MCYL to
HCU brake lines to the vehicle as an assembly.
NoteRotate and lower the assembly down along the brake booster while shifting the 4-tube brake lines over.NoteTake care not to bend the brake lines.

Secure the brake lines to the LH side
of the HCU bundle.
NoteRetainers (x2).NoteSupport and shift the HCU with one hand while using side access hole to secure the brake lines.

Secure the brake lines to the
underside of the HCU bundle.
NoteRetainers (x2)

Push the HCU ECU harness and connector
through the body into the frunk area.
-
Connect the HCU electrical
connector.
NoteSeat the connector, then rotate the lever downward, and then secure the locking tab.
-
Remove the remaining protective tape,
and then install the 4-tube bundle brake lines to the HCU.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
NoteNuts (x4).NoteClean the brake lines with brake cleaner before mating, as needed. -
Install the flexible brake lines (x2)
to the master cylinder.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 12 mm ratcheting combination wrench flex head
NoteClean the brake lines with brake cleaner before installation. -
Remove the shop towels from underneath
the brake lines.
NoteClean up any residual fluid lost.

Install the bolts (x3) that attach the
HCU bracket.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
NoteStart to fasten bolts by hand to prevent cross-threading. -
Install the bolt that attaches the
junction ground terminal to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Connect the ground junction connector
G500.
NoteSecure the red locking tab.
-
Fasten the LH repeater electrical
harness to the body.
-
Connect the LH front repeater
electrical connectors (x2).
NoteSupport the repeater from the exterior to prevent damage to the retaining clips.
- Install the LH front wheel arch liner. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).

Connect the brake fluid level sensor
electrical connector.
-
Connect the DTS position sensor to the
brake booster assembly.
NoteSecure the red locking tab.
-
Connect the brake booster ECU
electrical connector.
NoteAlign the electrical connector, and then rotate the lever to fully seat.NoteSecure the red locking tab.

Install the remote brake fluid
reservoir.
NoteCoupling (x1).NoteSecure the locking tab.NoteHold the hose upwards to avoid spilling brake fluid.
- Install the front body controller module. See Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace).

Secure the battery coolant pump to the
mounting bracket.

Connect the battery coolant pump
electrical connector.
NoteSecure the connector and fully engage the red locking tab.

Connect the battery coolant
temperature sensor electrical connector.
NoteSecure the connector and fully engage the red locking tab.

Install the HEPA filter housing.
NoteRotate down and rearward around the superbeam.
-
With an assistant, return the
superbeam back to its original position.
NoteLift and move the superbeam rearward on to the front shock tower.

Install the bolts (x4) that attach the
superbeam to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 15 mm socket
NotePosition the superbeam first, and then hand-tighten the bolts. -
Install the nuts (x2) that attach the
HEPA housing assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Install the HEPA filter.
NoteClips (x2).NoteAlign the 3 locating tabs onto the bottom of the housing.NoteConfirm air flow direction.NoteEnsure clips lock and secure the filter into housing.

Install the HEPA filter assembly
cover.

Connect the air quality sensor
electrical connector.

Install the bolts (x4) that attach the
wiper mount bracket.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
NoteSlide the bracket from the RH shock tower area along the superbeam to clear the HEPA filter housing. -
Install the bolt that attaches the RH
FST cap to the shock tower.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket
NoteInsert the keyed ground strap into the RH FST cap before installation. -
Install the bolts (x3) that attach the
RH FST cap to the superbeam.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Install the bolt that attaches the
front controller ground cable.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Install the bolt that attaches the LH
FST cap to the shock tower.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Fasten the clip, and then install the
bolts (x3) that attach the LH FST cap to the superbeam.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 13 mm socket

Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
remote brake fluid reservoir to the LH FST cap.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
NoteRotate the reservoir with bracket onto the LH FST cap. - Install the LV battery. See Battery - LV (Remove and Replace).
- Install the wiper module. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
- Install the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - RH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH wiper arm. See Wiper Arm - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
- Install the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
- Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).

Secure the LH HEPA assembly lower dash
bolt.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Install the screw that attaches the
accelerator pedal to the pedal assembly.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- Torx T30 socket
NoteSecure the accelerator pedal into the assembly slots. -
Connect the accelerator pedal
electrical connector.
NoteMake sure the electrical connector lock is fully engaged.
- Install the driver knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
- Install the front passenger knee airbag. See Knee Airbag - Front Passenger (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the driver inboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Inboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Install the driver outboard footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Outboard - Driver (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH front floor mat.
- Reconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Bleed the brakes. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush (Remove and Replace).
- Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Close the hood.
- Install all wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).

Remove the vehicle from the
lift.
NoteRemove the air suspension from "Jack Mode."

Install the RH HEPA assembly lower
dash bolt.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket

Install the RH footrest panel.
NoteRotate the RH footrest panel into the vehicle. Fold the RH primary support carpet down.

Install the bolts (x2) and nuts (x2)
that attach the RH footrest panel to the body.Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Fasten the clip that attaches the
electrical harness to the RH footrest panel.
-
Fold the RH main carpet back into
place.
- Install the RH console side panel carpet. See Carpet - Side Panel - Center Console - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH middle A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH instrument panel end cap. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH front sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the RH front floor mat.
- Restore the driver and front passenger seats back to their original position.

Calibrate the rear doors.
NoteIf the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors

Perform a road test and ensure proper
brake pedal feel and performance.
