Glass - Rear Quarter - LH (Remove and Install)

CAUTION
For Europe only: Only technicians who have been trained in working with diisocyanates and have completed all required certification courses are permitted to perform procedures using urethane and other products containing diisocyanates. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when working with products containing diisocyanates.

Remove

  1. Open the liftgate.
  2. Open the LH rear door.
  3. Fold the LH 3rd row seat down.
  4. Remove the LH side rear trunk garnish. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the LH mid C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH upper C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Apply tape to the vehicle body around the LH rear quarter glass.
  8. Apply masking tape onto the LH rear quarter glass assembly and mark its current position.

    Use masking tape to mark current position to aid during the re-installation of the rear quarter glass.
  9. Prepare the glazing wire and the T-handles.
  10. Cut the urethane, and then remove the LH rear quarter glass from the vehicle.

    x3 locator clips.

    When using the glazing wire, start from the rear of the vehicle.

    Note
    Use a blade (equalizer blade, equalizer blade handle, and equalizer hydroblade) as needed.

    Remove any broken locator clips from the vehicle interior.
  11. Clean excess urethane from the LH quarter panel with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) using the Winged Scraper Set (1080601-00-A Gasket Scraper).
  12. Clean excess urethane from the LH quarter glass with IPA using the Winged Scraper Set (1080601-00-A Gasket Scraper).

Install

  1. Apply primer to the mating surface of the LH rear quarter glass.
  2. Apply primer to the inside portion of LH rear quarter glass.

    Allow time for the primer to dry before continuing.
  3. Cut a triangle into the urethane applicator tip approximately 8 mm wide and 14 mm tall, and then prepare the urethane into the caulking gun.
  4. Apply urethane onto the LH rear quarter glass.

    Betaseal Express has a drive away time of one hour.
  5. Install the LH rear quarter glass onto the vehicle.

    Verify that the rear quarter glass is reusable.

    Line up the glass with the previous marks.

    Note
    Apply tape to secure the rear quarter glass while the urethane cures.
  6. Install the LH upper C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH mid C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the LH side rear trunk garnish. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Raise the LH 3rd row seat back into the upright position.
  10. Remove the tape from the rear quarter glass area after the urethane has properly cured.
  11. Close the LH rear door.
  12. Close the liftgate.
