HV Harness - HV Battery To A/C Compressor (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  3. Disconnect LV power. See Battery - LV (Remove and Replace).
  4. Perform the vehicle electrical isolation procedure. See Vehicle Electrical Isolation Procedure.
  5. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  9. Disconnect the A/C compressor logic electrical connector.

    Note
    Do not push down on the red tab. Pull to disengage the lock, and then pull again to release the electrical connector.
  10. Release the fir tree clip that attaches the A/C compressor logic harness to the A/C compressor HV harness bracket.
  11. Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C compressor HV harness bracket to the A/C compressor.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  12. Release the locking electrical connector, and then disconnect the HV harness electrical connector from the A/C compressor.

    Note
    Move the black locking tab away form the A/C compressor, push down on the locking connector to release, and then pull straight out of the socket.
  13. Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C compressor ground strap.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 bit
  14. Release the fir tree clip that attaches the coolant hose to the A/C compressor bracket.
  15. Remove the powertrain coolant pump from the A/C compressor bracket.

    Note
    Slide the powertrain coolant pump assembly away from the A/C compressor off the lower bracket.
  16. Release the HV heat pump bracket from the A/C compressor eyelet.

    Release the bracket tab, and then rotate rearward and up to clear the A/C compressor eyelet.
  17. Set the HV heat pump bracket aside.

    Negotiate underneath the high pressure pipe.
  18. With an assistant, release the A/C compressor bracket from the superbeam:
    1. Remove the bolts (x2) for the A/C compressor.
      31 Nm (22.9 lbs-ft)
      Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
      • 15 mm socket

      Note
      Support the A/C compressor while removing the bolts.
    2. Carefully remove the A/C compressor and A/C compressor bracket towards the front of the vehicle and under the superbeam.

      CAUTION
      Be cautious around the coolant hose and supermanifold harness.
    3. Place a fender cover on the fan housing, and then gently place the A/C compressor assembly down.
  19. Remove the HV battery to A/C Compressor HV harness:
    1. Release the clips (x3) that attach the HV harness to the body.
    2. Hold down the red locking tab, and then disengage the release lever for the HV harness.

      CAUTION
      Do not force the release lever up.
    3. Remove the HV harness from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install the A/C compressor HV harness:
    1. Route the HV harness underneath the steering column.
    2. Make sure that the HV harness lever is in the upright and open position.
    3. Carefully seat the electrical connector and allow the lever to engage.
    4. Fully secure the lever and verify the red tab is locked.
    5. Fasten the HV harness clips (x3).
  2. With an assistant, position the A/C compressor bracket assembly into vehicle, and then hand-tighten the bolts (x2) that attach the A/C compressor to the superbeam:

    Support the A/C compressor while installing the bolts.

    Hand-tighten the bolts first. Tightening to specification in the next step.
    1. Carefully install the A/C compressor and A/C compressor bracket towards the rear of the vehicle and under the superbeam.
    2. Negotiate the bracket around the coolant hose and supermanifold harness.
  3. Tighten the A/C compressor bracket bolts (x2) to the superbeam.
    31 Nm (22.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 15 mm socket
  4. Position the HV heat pump bracket.

    Note
    Negotiate underneath the high pressure pipe.
  5. Secure the HV heat pump bracket to the A/C compressor eyelet.

    Make sure that the locking tab engages the eyelet.
  6. Connect the HV harness connector to the A/C compressor.

    3 stage locking connector: After fully seating the connector onto the A/C compressor, engage the black locking tab by pushing toward the A/C compressor.

    Perform a push-pull-push test to ensure proper seating.
  7. Install the bolt that attaches the A/C compressor HV harness bracket to the A/C compressor.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  8. Install the bolt that attaches the A/C compressor ground strap.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 bit
  9. Secure the powertrain coolant pump onto the A/C compressor bracket.

    Slide the powertrain coolant pump onto the A/C compressor lower bracket.
  10. Install the fir tree clip that attaches the coolant hose to the A/C compressor bracket.
  11. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  12. Install the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Reconnect LV power. See Battery - LV (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  17. Calibrate the rear doors.

    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors
