Battery - LV (Remove and Replace)

NOTE: See Personal Protection to make sure proper PPE is worn when performing the below procedure.

Warning
Before performing the following procedure, make sure the 12V/LV battery temperature is not overheated.

Remove

Note
The LV battery may not need to be replaced. Attempt to recover the LV battery first before determining that the LV battery needs replacement. Refer to Toolbox article 6249900 for more information.
  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
  3. Verify that the vehicle firmware is up to date.
  4. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Remove the LH and RH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  8. Remove the wiper module. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
  9. Release the clip that attaches the supermanifold to battery pump hose to the LV battery.
  10. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the air suspension reservoir.
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm ratcheting combination flex head wrench
  11. Remove the LV battery from the vehicle.
    Note
    Rotate the LV battery to maneuver it out between the cowl screen panel and the air suspension reservoir.

Install

  1. Position the LV battery into the vehicle.
    Note
    Rotate the LV battery to maneuver it in between the cowl screen panel and the air suspension reservoir.
  2. Install the LV battery to the air suspension reservoir, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the reservoir.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
    • 10mm ratcheting combination flex head wrench
  3. Install the clip that attaches the supermanifold to battery pump hose to the LV battery.
  4. Install the wiper module. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  6. Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH and RH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Connect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
    Note
    If the vehicle does not power up after the LV battery is connected, power up the vehicle with an approved external power supply.
  9. Connect the LV maintainer. See LV Maintainer (Connect and Disconnect).
  10. On the vehicle touchscreen, select Low Voltage > Power Distribution > Battery Icon > Learn New Battery, then select Run and wait for the routine to complete.
    Note
    Once the routine has passed, the vehicle software must be on FW 2025.26.6 or later.
  11. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
  12. Disconnect the LV maintainer. See LV Maintainer (Connect and Disconnect).
  13. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  14. Hold the LH and RH B-pillar upper buttons in the Close position to manually calibrate the LH and RH falcon wing doors.
  15. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
