Battery - LV (Remove and Replace)

Note
The LV battery may not need to be replaced. Attempt to recover the LV battery first before determining that the LV battery needs replacement. Refer to Toolbox article 6249900 for more information.
  1. On the touchscreen, touch Controls (vehicle icon) > Service > Wiper Service Mode to move the wipers into the service position.
  2. Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Remove the RH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Release the clip that attaches the RH outer hood hinge cover to the cowl screen panel, and then remove the cover from around the RH hood hinge and cowl screen panel.
  7. Release the clip that attaches the RH side of the cowl screen panel to the body, raise the RH side of the cowl screen panel and insert a rolled-up clean shop towel between the windshield and cowl screen panel.
  8. Release the clip that attaches the supermanifold to battery pump hose to the LV battery.
  9. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the air suspension reservoir.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm ratcheting combination flex head wrench
  10. Remove the LV battery from the vehicle.

    Note
    Rotate the LV battery to maneuver it out between the cowl screen panel and the air suspension reservoir.

Install

  1. Position the LV battery into the vehicle.

    Rotate the LV battery to maneuver it in between the cowl screen panel and the air suspension reservoir.
  2. Install the LV battery to the air suspension reservoir, and then install the bolts (x3) that attach the LV battery to the reservoir.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • 4 in extension
    • 10mm ratcheting combination flex head wrench
  3. Install the clip that attaches the supermanifold to battery pump hose to the LV battery.
  4. Connect the LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).

    Note
    If the vehicle does not power up after the LV battery is connected, power up the vehicle with an approved external power supply.
  5. Remove the rolled-up clean shop towel from between the cowl screen panel and the windshield, press down on the cowl screen panel, and then fasten the clip that attaches the RH side of the cowl screen panel to the body.
  6. Install the RH outer hood hinge cover to around the RH hood hinge, and then fasten the clip that attaches the hinge cover to the cowl screen panel.
  7. Install the RH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Connect the LV maintainer. See LV Maintainer (Connect and Disconnect).
  9. Perform a software reinstall. See Firmware Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  10. Disconnect the LV maintainer. See LV Maintainer (Connect and Disconnect).
  11. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  12. Disable Service Mode. See Service Mode (Enable and Disable).
  13. On the touchscreen, touch Controls (vehicle icon) > Service > Wiper Service Mode to return the wipers from the service position.
  14. Hold the LH and RH B-pillar upper buttons in the Close position to manually calibrate the LH and RH falcon wing doors.
