Module - Restraint Control (Remove and Install)

Make sure LV power has been disconnected for at least 1 minute before disconnecting the electrical harness from Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) components, such as the Restraint Control Module, sensors, airbags, etc. Failure to do so can result in unintended safety system behaviors. Warning
While performing any Supplementary Restraint System (SRS) related repairs, it is important to disconnect LV power. If the vehicle’s LV power is NOT disconnected and the Restraint Control Module is removed or disturbed, this can result in the deployment of the vehicle’s airbags.

Remove

  1. Remove the center console assembly. See Center Console Assembly - 1st Row (Remove and Install).
  2. Remove center console HVAC duct.

    1x brush clip.
  3. Enable Service Mode Plus. See Service Mode Plus
  4. On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Safety & Restraints > Airbags > RCM > Disarm RCM, touch Run, and allow the routine to complete.

    Note
    Make sure that airbags are disarmed after the routine has completed.

  5. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).

    Make sure LV is disconnected before continuing to the next step.
  6. Disconnect the RCM connectors (x2).

    Note
    Reach underneath the center console support bracket to access the RCM connectors, Depress the connector locks and swing the release arms out to disengage.
  7. Remove and discard the nuts (x3) that attach the RCM to the vehicle.
  8. Remove the RCM from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install the new RCM to the vehicle, and then install the new nuts (x3) that attach the RCM to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
  2. Connect the RCM connectors (x2).

    Note
    Reach underneath center console support bracket to engage the RCM connectors. Swing the release arms in and make sure that locking tabs engage.
  3. Install the brush clip that attaches the center console HVAC duct.

    Slide duct into the HVAC assembly and make sure it is fully seated.
  4. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  5. Install the center console assembly. See Center Console Assembly - 1st Row (Remove and Install).
  6. Calibrate the rear doors.

    Note
    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  7. Enable Service Mode Plus. See Service Mode Plus
  8. On the touchscreen, touch Service Mode > Safety & Restraints > Airbags > RCM > Disarm RCM, touch Run, and allow the routine to complete.
