Hinge - Hood - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace)
  3. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect)
  4. Remove the LH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace)
  5. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the hood to the LH hood hinge.
  6. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the hood to the RH hood hinge.

    13 mm. Torque 24 Nm.
  7. With an assistant, remove the hood from the vehicle and place it on a padded surface.
  8. Release the upper gas strut ball joint.
  9. Remove the clip that attaches the LH outer hood hinge cover to the vehicle, and then remove the hood hinge cover.
  10. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH pedestrian protection actuator to the vehicle.
  11. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LH hood hinge to the vehicle, and then remove the hinge.

Install

  1. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the LH hood hinge to the vehicle.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)
  2. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH pedestrian protection actuator to the vehicle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
  3. Position the LH hood hinge cover to the vehicle, and then install the clip that attaches the LH outer hood hinge cover to the vehicle.
  4. Install the upper gas strut ball joint.
  5. With an assistant, install the hood.

    Position the two threaded studs on each side of the hood into the LH and RH hinges.
  6. Hand tighten the nuts (x4) that attach the hood to the LH and RH hood hinges.

    Tighten the nuts enough to hold the hood while loose enough to make adjustments, if needed.

    Torquing of the nuts will be performed later in this procedure.
  7. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect)
  8. Install the LH underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace)
  9. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace)
  10. Close the hood.
  11. Check the hood gap/flush fit between body panels and headlights and adjust as necessary.
  12. Open the hood.
  13. Tighten the nuts (x4) that attach the hood to the LH and RH hood hinges.
    24 Nm (17.7 lbs-ft)
  14. Apply touch up paint to the heads of the LH and RH hood hinge bolts and nuts.
  15. Close the hood.
