Horn - Low Tone (Remove and Replace)

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH front window.
  3. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  4. Release the clips (x6) and push nut that partially attach the front portion of the LH front wheel house liner to the vehicle body, and then move the liner aside for access.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  5. Disconnect the low tone horn locking connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Small flat head screwdriver

    Note
    Release the red locking tab.
  6. Disconnect the high tone horn locking connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Small flat head screwdriver

  7. Remove the nut that attaches the horn assembly to the vehicle body, and then remove the horn assembly from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  8. Remove the nut that attaches the low tone horn to the horn assembly bracket, and then remove the low tone horn from the bracket.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Adapter 1/4in Dr. to 1/4in Hex Bit Quick Change
    • Cordless 1/4in Hex Driver

Install

  1. Position the low tone horn on the horn assembly bracket, and then install the nut that attaches the low tone horn to the bracket.
    9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
    • Adapter 1/4in Dr. to 1/4in Hex Bit Quick Change
    • Cordless 1/4in Hex Driver
    • Torque wrench with angle measurement
  2. Position the horn assembly on the vehicle, and then install the nut that attaches the horn assembly to the vehicle body.
    12 Nm (8.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  3. Connect the high tone horn locking connector.

    Verify the red locking tab is fully seated and engaged.
  4. Connect the low tone horn locking connector.

  5. Install the clips (x6) and push nut that attach the front portion of the LH front wheel house liner to the vehicle body.
  6. Install the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  7. Raise the LH front window.
  8. Close the LH front door.
