Retractor - Seatbelt - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open the LH and RH falcon wing doors.
  2. Open the liftgate.
  3. Fold the 2nd row 40 and 60 seats downward.
  4. Remove the rear trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the rear trunk floor NVH insulator. See NVH Insulator - Floor - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the rear trunk carpet. See Carpet - Rear Trunk (7 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the 3rd row seat cushion. See Cushion - Seat - 3rd Row (Remove and Replace).
  8. Fold the LH and RH 3rd row seat backs downward.
  9. Disconnect the 3rd row seat assembly connectors (x11).

    Note
    Release the tab and slide the connector housing off of the housing tray to remove.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pocket screwdriver
  10. Release the push clips (x4) that attach the 3rd row seat harness trays to the seat frame.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  11. Remove the LH 3rd row seat back carpet. See Seat Back Carpet - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Release the tabs (x4), fir tree clips (x2), and J hook that attach the lower section of the LH 3rd row seat upholstery to the seat.

    Note
    Pull the tabs inward, and then upwards to release.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  13. Route the LH 3rd row seat connectors (x2) around the lower section of the upholstery, and then connect the connectors.
  14. Unfold the LH 3rd row seat to original position.

    Note
    Leave the seat headrest in the folded position.
  15. Release the J-hook clip that attaches the upper half of the LH 3rd row seat upholstery to the seat.
  16. From the 3rd row, pull the inner portion of the seat cover and foam outward to gain access to the LH 3rd row headrest actuator.

    CAUTION
    Use caution to not snag the J-hooks. The actuator is located on the front side of the seat back under the upholstery and cushion assembly.

    Note
    Use the fold function to feed the bottom of the seat upholstery forward.
  17. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the LH 3rd row seatbelt retractor to the seat.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
  18. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH 3rd row seatbelt anchor to the LH 3rd row cushion structure assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 3 in extension
    • 14 mm socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  19. Remove the LH 3rd row seatbelt escutcheon. See Escutcheon - Seatbelt - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  20. Feed the LH 3rd row seatbelt through the LH 3rd row seat cover and seat cover trim openings.
  21. Drill out the rivets (x3) securing the LH 3rd row seat back panel to the LH 3rd row seat frame to allow clearance for removing the seatbelt.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 3/16" Hex bit
    • Drill 1/2in chuck electric
  22. Feed the LH 3rd row seatbelt between the top of the LH 3rd row seat back panel and the seat frame.
  23. Remove the LH 3rd row seatbelt retractor from the LH 3rd row seat, and then remove the retractor from the vehicle.

Install

  1. From the 3rd row, feed the LH 3rd row seatbelt retractor between the top right portion of the LH 3rd row seat cushion trim and the seat frame.
  2. Feed the LH 3rd row seatbelt outward between the top of the LH 3rd row seat back panel and the seat frame.
  3. Install the rivets (x3) that attach the rear seat back panel to the LH 3rd row seat frame.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic rivet setter kit
  4. Feed the LH 3rd row seatbelt outward through the LH 3rd row seat cover and seat cover trim openings.
  5. Install the LH 3rd row seatbelt escutcheon. See Escutcheon - Seatbelt - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Install the bolt that attaches the LH 3rd row seatbelt anchor to the LH 3rd row cushion structure assembly.
    45 Nm (33.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 14 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  7. Install a new bolt that attaches the LH 3rd row seatbelt retractor to the seat.
    45 Nm (33.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
  8. Engage the J hook clip that attaches the upper half of LH 3rd row seat upholstery to the seat.

    Note
    Fold the seat to a workable position, start at one end of the J hook clip, and then fold the clip inwards until the other end of the upholstery is fully tucked.
  9. Engage the tabs (x4), fir tree clips (x2), and J hook that attach the lower section of the LH 3rd row seat upholstery to the seat.
  10. Install the LH 3rd row seat back carpet. See Seat Back Carpet - 3rd Row - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Unfold the LH and RH 3rd row seat backs into original position.
  12. Install the 3rd row seat cushion. See Cushion - Seat - 3rd Row (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the push clips (x4) that attach the 3rd row seat harness trays to the seat frame.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  14. Connect the 3rd row seat assembly connectors (x11).
  15. Install the rear trunk carpet. See Carpet - Rear Trunk (7 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the rear trunk floor NVH insulator. See NVH Insulator - Floor - Rear Trunk (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the rear trunk load floor. See Trunk Load Floor - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  18. Close the liftgate.
  19. Unfold the 2nd row 40 and 60 seats into original position.
  20. Close the LH and RH falcon wing doors.
