Antenna - Satellite Radio (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 21311002 2.34 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove

  1. Open all four doors.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. Move the LH and RH front seats rearward.
  4. Remove the LH and RH sun visor bezel A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the bolts (x2), screw, and nut that attach the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.

    Note
    Discard the nut after removal.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm hex
    • 13 mm hex
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  6. Move the LH upper A-pillar trim for access to the headliner.
  7. Remove the screw that attaches the LH front end of the headliner to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  8. Remove the bolts (x2), screw, and nut that attach the RH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.

    Note
    Discard the nut after removal.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm hex
    • 13 mm hex
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  9. Move the RH upper A-pillar trim for access to the headliner.
  10. Remove the screw that attaches the RH front end of the headliner to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  11. Move the LH and RH front seats forward.
  12. Release the LH front door seal away from the B-pillar.
  13. Release the clips (x5) that attach the upper portion of the LH lower B-pillar to the LH upper B-pillar.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
    • Plastic trim tool
  14. Release the clips (x3) and magnets (x2) that attach the LH upper B-pillar to the body, and then disconnect the LH falcon wing door connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
    • Plastic trim tool
    • Pocket screwdriver
  15. Move the LH upper B-pillar aside.
  16. Release the RH front door seal away from the B-pillar.
  17. Release the clips (x5) that attach the upper portion of the RH lower B-pillar to the RH upper B-pillar.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
    • Plastic trim tool
  18. Release the clips (x3) and magnets (x2) that attach the RH upper B-pillar to the body, and then disconnect the RH falcon wing door connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
    • Plastic trim tool
    • Pocket screwdriver
  19. Move the RH upper B-pillar aside.
  20. Open the liftgate.
  21. Fold the LH and RH 3rd row seats downward.
  22. Remove the LH and RH side rear trunk garnishes. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  23. Remove the LH and RH mid C-pillar trims. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  24. Remove the LH and RH upper C-pillar trims. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  25. Remove the LH and RH rear coat hooks. See Coat Hook - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  26. Remove the headliner. See Headliner (Remove and Replace).
  27. Carefully disconnect the center spine applique ultrasonic sensor connector.
  28. Remove the LH rear door trim lower garnish. See Garnish - Lower - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  29. Remove the LH upper rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove & Replace).
  30. Remove the LH rear upper rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Upper - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  31. Remove the LH front upper rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Upper - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  32. Remove the LH center rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Center - LH (Remove and Replace).
  33. Remove the mid rear LH door trim gap hider. See Gap Hider - Door Trim - LH - Rear - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  34. With assistance, lower the LH falcon wing door.
  35. Remove the LH upper rear door glass assembly. See Door Glass Assembly - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  36. Remove the center spine applique. See Applique - Spine - Center (Remove and Replace).
  37. Open the LH falcon wing door.
  38. Release the clip that attaches the satellite radio antenna harness to the closeout plate, and then disconnect the antenna harness connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  39. Release the clips (x3) that attach the satellite radio antenna harness to the closing plate.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Clip pry tool
  40. Disconnect the falcon EM controller connectors (x4).
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pocket screwdriver
  41. Remove the bolts (x8) that attach the closing plate to the vehicle, and then remove the closing plate from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 6 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  42. Release the satellite radio antenna from the vehicle, pull the antenna harness through the hole in the top of the body, and then remove the antenna from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  43. Use IPA wipes to remove remaining adhesive, and then clean the satellite radio antenna surface area. Allow 1 minute dry time.

Install

  1. Position the satellite radio antenna on the vehicle, remove the antenna adhesive cover, and then install the antenna on the vehicle.

    Note
    Route the antenna harness through the hole in the top of the body.
  2. Position the closing panel on the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x8) that attach the closing plate to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 6 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  3. Install the falcon EM controller connectors (x4).
  4. Install the clips (x3) that attach the satellite radio antenna harness to the closing plate.
  5. Install the clip that attaches the satellite radio antenna harness to the closeout plate, and then connect the antenna harness connector.
  6. Install the center spine applique. See Applique - Spine - Center (Remove and Replace).
  7. Partially open the LH falcon wing door.
  8. Install the LH upper rear door glass assembly. See Door Glass Assembly - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Open the LH falcon wing door.
  10. Install the mid rear LH door trim gap hider. See Gap Hider - Door Trim - LH - Rear - Mid (Remove and Replace).
  11. Install the LH center rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Center - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the LH front upper rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Upper - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the LH rear upper rear door trim bracket. See Bracket - Rear Door Trim - Upper - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the LH upper rear door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Rear - Upper - LH (Remove & Replace).
  15. Install the LH rear door trim lower garnish. See Garnish - Lower - Door Trim - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the headliner. See Headliner (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the screw that attaches the RH front end of the headliner to the vehicle.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  18. Connect the RH falcon wing door button electrical connector, and then install the clips (x3) and magnets (x2) that attach the RH upper B-pillar trim to the B-pillar.

    Replace the clips if damaged.
  19. Install the clips (x5) that attach the upper portion of the RH lower B-pillar trim to B-pillar.
  20. Fully seat the RH front door seal on the B-pillar trim.
  21. Install the screw that attaches the LH front end of the headliner to the vehicle.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  22. Connect the LH falcon wing door button electrical connector, and then install the clips (x3) and magnets (x2) that attach the LH upper B-pillar trim to the B-pillar.

    Note
    Replace the clips if damaged.
  23. Install the clips (x5) that attach the upper portion of the LH lower B-pillar trim to B-pillar.
  24. Fully seat the LH front door seal on the B-pillar trim.
  25. Move the LH and RH front seats into original position.
  26. Position the RH upper A-pillar trim for installation.
  27. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the RH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm hex
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  28. Install the screw that attaches the RH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  29. Install a new nut that attaches the RH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 13 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  30. Position the LH upper A-pillar trim for installation.
  31. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 10 mm hex
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  32. Install the screw that attaches the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T20 socket
  33. Install the LH and RH sun visor bezel A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Sun Visor Bezel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  34. Install a new nut that attaches the LH upper A-pillar trim to the vehicle.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 2 in extension
    • 13 mm socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  35. Install the LH and RH rear coat hooks. See Coat Hook - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  36. Install the LH and RH upper C-pillar trims. See Trim - C-Pillar - Upper - LH (Remove and Replace).
  37. Install the LH and RH mid C-pillar trims. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  38. Install the LH and RH side rear trunk garnishes. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  39. Unfold the LH and RH 3rd row seats into original position.
  40. Close the liftgate.
  41. Verify the XM radio is functioning properly.
  42. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  43. Close all four doors.
