Air Line - Compressor to Valve Block - Air Suspension (Remove and Replace)

Special tool required: 1083876-00-A - Air suspension nitrogen filling kit

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the LH front window.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  4. In Toolbox, click the Actions tab, and then search for TAS service mode.
  5. Click PROC_TAS_X_ENTER-SERVICE-MODESearch for routine in ToolboxTAS Enter Service Run Mode, and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete before continuing to the next step.

  6. Click the Actions tab, and then search for Deflate.
  7. Click PROC_TAS_X_DEFLATESearch for routine in ToolboxTAS Deflate ComponentChassis / Suspension - Deflate, and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete before continuing to the next step.

  8. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  13. Remove the schrader valve cap from the superbeam.
  14. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  15. Remove the LH front and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  16. Remove the front fascia. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  17. Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  18. Release the clip that secures the body harness, and then move the harness aside to gain access to the air suspension valve block.
  19. Remove the nut that attaches the compressor line to the air suspension valve block.
    3.5 Nm (2.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm 12 point combination wrench
  20. Remove the nut that attaches the boost line to the air suspension valve block.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12 point combination wrench
  21. Release the air line fittings from the air compressor.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12 point combination wrench
    • 12 mm 12 point combination wrench
  22. Remove the VOSS fittings (x2) from the compressor air lines.

    Note
    Slide the threaded section back, remove the collet, and then slide threaded section off of the air lines. Discard after removal.
  23. Release the clip that attaches the air suspension compressor to valve air line, and then remove the air line from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Install 4 mm VOSS fitting onto the air suspension valve block.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket

    Remove the plastic alignment pin from the VOSS fitting.
  2. Install 6 mm VOSS fitting onto the air suspension valve block.
    3.5 Nm (2.6 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 12 mm 12-point deep socket

    Remove the plastic alignment pin from the VOSS fitting.
  3. Install new VOSS fittings (x2) onto the air compressor and secure the air lines.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • 12 mm 12-point deep socket

    Note
    Remove the white plugs when the air lines are ready to be installed.

    Fully insert the air line into the fitting. It should sit between the two white marks on the air lines. Verify the air lines are properly seated by performing a push-pull test.
  4. Position the air suspension line compressor to valve air line onto the vehicle, and then fasten the clip onto the air compressor bracket.
  5. Install the boost line into the air suspension valve block.

    Press the hose into the fitting until the mark aligns with the top of the fitting.

    Verify line is properly secured by performing a push-pull test.
  6. Install the compressor line into the air suspension valve block.

    Press the hose into the fitting until the mark aligns with the top of the fitting.

    Verify line is properly secured by performing a push-pull test.
  7. Fasten the clip that secures the body harness.
  8. Install the front fascia. See Fascia Assembly - Front (Remove and Install).
  9. Install the LH front and RH front wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  10. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  11. Set up the nitrogen tank kit (1083876-00-A) to fill the superbeam reservoir.

    Verify the valves are set to the closed position on the tank, regulator, and the air line.
  12. Connect the nitrogen tank hose to the reservoir.
  13. Open the valve on the nitrogen tank and set the pressure to 18 Bar using the regulator.

    Slowly open the valve and adjust the regulator.

    Verify pressure is set to 18 Bar
  14. Open the valve on the nitrogen tank hose.
  15. Verify the pressure holds on the regulator valve gauge.

    If the pressure does not hold, there may be a leak present.
  16. Re-establish vehicle connection to Toolbox 3.
  17. Click the Actions tab, and then search for TAS service mode.
  18. Click PROC_TAS_X_ENTER-NORMAL-MODESearch for routine in ToolboxTAS Enter Normal Run Mode, and then click Run. Allow the routine to complete before continuing to the next step.

  19. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  20. Remove the air suspension from "Jack Mode."
  21. Close the valve on the nitrogen tank hose.
  22. Remove the nitrogen tank hose from the reservoir.
  23. Install the cap onto the reservoir valve.
  24. Close the valve on the nitrogen tank.
  25. Close the pressure regulator valve on the nitrogen tank to release the line pressure in the lines.
  26. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
  27. Install the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  28. Install the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  29. Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  30. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  31. Calibrate the rear doors.

    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  32. Raise LH front window and close the LH front door.
