Shroud - Upper - Steering Column (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 14053702 0.40 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove

  1. Open the LH and RH front doors.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. Remove the LH and RH middle A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the LH and RH instrumental panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls > Steering, and then use the left steering wheel scroll wheel to adjust steering column fully rearwards, and downwards.
  6. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Remove the center console phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the instrument panel service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    It is not necessary to remove the cabin temperature sensor fan from the service panel.
  9. Remove the touchscreen. See Touchscreen (HW3) (Remove and Replace).

    Note
    It is not necessary to remove the display mechanism from the touchscreen after the assembly has been removed from the instrument panel.
  10. Release the tabs (x4) that attach the instrument panel closeout panel to the instrument panel, and then remove the closeout panel from the instrument panel.
  11. Remove the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  14. Pull upwards to release the clips (x6) and datums (x4) that attach the steering column upper shroud to the lower shroud, and then remove the upper shroud and gap hider from the steering column.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  15. Remove the upper steering column upper gap hider. See Gap Hider - Steering Column - Upper (Remove and Replace).

Install

  1. Install the upper steering column upper gap hider. See Gap Hider - Steering Column - Upper (Remove and Replace).
  2. Position the steering column upper shroud and gap hider on the steering column, and then install the clips (x6) and datums (x4) that attach the upper shroud to the steering column.
  3. Install the steering yoke/wheel. See Steering Yoke/Wheel (Remove and Replace).
  4. Install the main instrument panel decor. See Decor - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the RH instrument panel middle trim. See Trim - Middle - Instrument Panel - RH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Position the instrument panel closeout panel on the instrument panel, and then install the tabs (x4) that attach the closeout panel to the instrument panel.
  7. Install the touchscreen. See Touchscreen (HW3) (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the instrument panel service panel. See Service Panel - Instrument Panel (Remove and Replace).
  9. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  10. Calibrate the rear doors.

    Note
    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  11. Install the center console phone dock. See Phone Dock - Center Console (Remove and Replace).
  12. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls > Steering, and then use the left steering wheel scroll wheel to adjust the steering column into original position.
  13. Install the LH and RH instrumental panel end caps. See End Cap - Instrument Panel - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Install the LH and RH middle A-pillar trims. See Trim - A-Pillar - Middle - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  16. Close the LH and RH front doors.
