Remove all jewelry (watches, bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, ID tags, piercings, etc.) from your person, and all objects (keys, coins, pens, pencils, tools, fasteners, etc.) from your pockets before performing any procedure that exposes you to high voltage.

Only technicians who have been trained in High Voltage Awareness and have completed all required certification courses (if applicable) are permitted to perform this procedure. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and insulating HV gloves with a minimum rating of class 0 (1000V) must be worn at all times a high voltage cable, busbar, or fitting is handled. Refer to Tech Note TN-15-92-003, High Voltage Awareness Care Points for additional glove and safety information.

CAUTION
The flood port housing should only be replaced if it is damaged. Replacing the flood port housing risks potential urecoverable debris in the HV battery enclosure. Refer to Flood Port (Remove and Replace) to replace the flood port plunger before attempting to replace the flood port housing.

CAUTION
The flood ports on the LH side of the vehicle have hats installed on the flood port housing inside the HV battery enclosure. Removing either flood port housing on the LH side of the vehicle will cause the housing to unseat from the hat, which may cause the hat to become unrecoverable in to the HV battery.

CAUTION
The following procedure should only be performed if the flood port housing is damaged and the flood port plunger has already been removed from the vehicle. Refer to Flood Port (Remove and Replace) for plunger removal.
  1. Use a pick and a pocket screwdriver to release the tabs (x8) that attach the flood port housing to the HV battery assembly, and then remove the housing from the assembly.

    CAUTION
    If removing either of the LH flood ports, be careful not to damage the inner green flood port hat on the inside of HV battery.

    Note
    Use the pocket screwdriver to counter-hold the flood port housing, and then use the pick to release the tabs.

    Discard the housing after removal.

Install

  1. Inspect the new flood port for a printed QR code to ensure the correct part is being used.
  2. Install the LH front flood port assembly into the vehicle.
