Module - Body Controller - Front (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the underhood storage unit access panel. See Underhood Storage Unit Access Panel (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  6. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  7. Disconnect the front body controller module upper locking connectors (x2).

    Note
    Push in the locking tabs, and then lift the levers to release the connectors.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  8. Disconnect the front body controller module LH middle locking connector.

    Push in the locking tab, and then lift the lever to release the connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  9. Disconnect the front body controller module RH middle locking connectors (x2).

    Note
    Slide the locking mechanism outwards to release connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  10. Disconnect the front body controller module lower locking connectors (x2).

    Slide the red locking tab outwards to release the connector.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  11. Remove the bolt that attaches the front body controller module ground cable to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  12. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the front body controller module to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
  13. Release the locating tabs (x2) that attach the front body controller module to the vehicle, and then remove the module and ground cable from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the front body controller module and ground cable on the vehicle, and then install the locating tabs (x2) that attach the module to the vehicle.
  2. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the front body controller module to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Start with the bolt on the side of the module.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  3. Install the bolt that attaches the front body controller module ground cable to the vehicle.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 4 in extension
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  4. Connect the front body controller module lower locking connectors (x2).

    Engage the red locking tab.
  5. Connect the front body controller module RH middle locking connectors (x2).

    Note
    Verify the yellow locking tabs are fully opened. Seat connectors and mechanism will begin to engage.
  6. Connect the front body controller module LH middle locking connector.

    Verify the lever is fully opened. Seat connector and lever will being to engage.
  7. Connect the front body controller module upper locking connectors (x2).

    Verify the levers are fully opened. Seat connectors and levers will begin to engage.
  8. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  9. Connect toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox 3 (Connect and Disconnect).
  10. In Toolbox 3, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, and type "Service_Redeploy".
  11. Perform the following routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes): UPDATE_CAN-REDEPLOYvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode Plus:
    • Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Drive Inverter DIRE1L Replacement ➜ CAN Redeploy
    • Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Drive Inverter DIRE1R Replacement ➜ CAN Redeploy
    • Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Drive Inverter DIRE2 Replacement ➜ CAN Redeploy
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Front Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ CAN Redeploy
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ CAN Redeploy
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ CAN Redeploy
    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Right Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ CAN Redeploy
    • Drive Unit ➜ Front Drive Unit Replacement ➜ CAN Redeploy
    • Drive Unit ➜ Rear Drive Unit Replacement ➜ CAN Redeploy

  12. Verify the vehicle is configured with the latest firmware. See Firmware Update.
  13. Perform the following routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes): TEST-SELF_VCFRONT_X_COOLANT-PUMPS-IDENTIFICATIONvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode:
    • Thermal ➜ Actions ➜ Run Coolant Pumps Identification
    • Thermal ➜ Coolant System ➜ Pump Identification

    • Drive Inverter ➜ Rear Left Drive Inverter Replacement ➜ Thermal System Test
