Fascia - Front - Upper (2025+) (Remove and Replace)

This procedure describes work that is specific to 2025+ Model X.

Remove

  1. Open the LH front door and lower the front windows.
  2. Press the brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
  3. Use the touchscreen to set the air suspension ride height to “Very High”.
  4. Turn the steering wheel fully to the right.
  5. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the bolts (x6) that attach the upper portion of the front fascia to the vehicle.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm socket
  9. Remove the clips (x3) and the bolt that attach the LH front wheel liner to the valance, and then move the front portion of wheel liner backwards to access the fairing.
    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T30 socket
  10. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the LH front wheel fairing to the valance.
    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm socket
  11. Carefully release the clips (x2 ) and tabs (x8) that attach the front portion of the LH front fender garnish to the body.

    Note
    Take care not to damage the dummy ultra sonic sensor when removing the garnish.
  12. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front of fascia to the LH front fender.
    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm deep socket
  13. Release the locking tab to disconnect the fascia camera hose from the washer pump.
  14. Press the brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
  15. Turn the steering wheel fully to the left.
  16. Remove the clips (x4) that attach the RH front wheel liner to the valance, and then move the front portion of wheel liner backwards to access the fairing.
  17. Repeat step 10 through step 12 on the RH side of the vehicle.
  18. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  19. Release the locking tabs and then disconnect the front fascia connectors (x2).

  20. Remove the clips (x2) and bolts (x3) that attach the lower portion of the front fascia to the valence.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm deep socket
  21. Apply masking tape to protect the LH and RH front fenders.
  22. With assistance, carefully release the front fascia assembly from the LH and RH fender brackets, and then remove the front fascia assembly from the body.

    Note
    Careful not to damage the fender bracket during removal. Place the assembly on a protected surface to avoid damage.
  23. Disconnect the LH front fascia lamp connector.
  24. Disconnect the RH front fascia lamp connector.
  25. Remove the LV jumper wires (x2) from the access cover.

    Note
    Squeeze the retaining tabs together and gently remove the wires from cover.
  26. Disconnect the front BLE connector.

    Note
    Do not push down on the red tab. Pull the red tab to disengage lock, and then pull again to release the connector.
  27. Disconnect the pedestrian warning connector.

  28. Disconnect the front fascia camera connector.

    1x locking tab connector, 1x nano nozzle
  29. Release the clips (x10) that attach the front fascia harness to the front fascia assembly.
  30. Remove the screws (x3) that attach the LH front fascia lamp to the front fascia assembly.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T25 bit
  31. Remove the tabs (x4) that attach the LH front fascia lamp to the front fascia assembly.
  32. Repeat step 30 and step 31 on the right side of the vehicle.
  33. Release the clips (x2) that attach the front fascia foam to the front fascia assembly.
  34. Remove the push clips (x4) and bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH lower valance to the front fascia.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm deep socket
  35. Release the tabs (x10) that attach the lower valence to the front fascia assembly.
  36. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the front fascia camera cover.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)

  37. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the front fascia grille to the front fascia assembly.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)

  38. Release the tabs (x11) that attach the front fascia grille to the front fascia assembly.
  39. Remove the clips (x6) and screw that attach the T badge carrier to the front fascia.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)

Install

  1. Place the new front fascia assembly on a padded work bench.

    When replacing with 1588184-S0-D (MX FRONT FASCIA SVC, UNPAINTED), refer to Front Fascia Assembly (Rework) procedure.
  2. Install the clips (x6) and screw that attach the T badge carrier to the front fascia.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T25 socket
  3. Install the tabs (x11) that attach the front fascia grille to the front fascia assembly.

    Position tabs into place prior to applying pressure. Verify the grille is fully seated.
  4. Install the screws (x2) that attach the front fascia grille to the front fascia assembly.
    1 Nm (.7 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T25 socket
  5. Install the clips (x2) that attach the front fascia foam to the front fascia assembly.
  6. Install the screws (x2) that attach the front fascia camera cover.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T20 socket
  7. With assistance, install the tabs (x10) that attach the lower valence to the front fascia assembly.

    Note
    Position tabs into place prior to applying pressure. Verify the trim is fully seated.
  8. Install the push clips (x4) and bolts (x2) that attach the LH and RH lower valance to the front fascia.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
  9. Install the tabs (x4) that attach the LH front fascia lamp to the front fascia assembly.
  10. Install the screws (x3) that attach the LH front fascia lamp to the front fascia assembly.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

    • Torx T25 bit
  11. Repeat step 9 through step 10 on the right side of the vehicle.
  12. Install the clips (x10) that attach the front fascia harness to the front fascia assembly.
  13. Connect the front fascia camera connector.

    1x locking tab, 1x nano nozzle
  14. Connect the pedestrian warning connector.

    Note
    Engage the locking tab.
  15. Connect the front BLE connector.

  16. Install the LV jumper wires (x2) onto the access cover.

    Note
    Ensure both wire terminals are fully seated behind the retaining tabs.
  17. Connect the RH front fascia lamp connector.
  18. Connect the LH front fascia lamp connector.
  19. With assistance, install the front fascia assembly onto the vehicle.

    Note
    Slide the front fascia into the LH and RH fenders. Careful not to damage the fender bracket during installation.
  20. Remove the masking tapes from the front fenders.
  21. Install the bolt that attaches the front fascia to the RH fender bracket.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)

    • 8 mm deep socket
  22. Connect the front fascia harness connectors (x2).

    Note
    Engage locking tab. The connectors are located behind the RH wheel arch liner.
  23. Install the clips (x2) and tabs (x8) that attach the RH front fender garnish to the body.

    Note
    Secure the garnish from top to bottom of the front bumper.
  24. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the RH front wheel fairing to the valance.
    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 socket
  25. Install the clips (x4) that attach the RH front wheel liner to the valance.
  26. Connect the LV battery power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  27. Press the brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
  28. Turn the steering wheel fully to the right.
  29. Connect the fascia camera hose to washer pump, and secure the locking tab.
  30. Repeat step 23 and step 24 on the left side of the vehicle.
  31. Install the clips (x3) and the bolt that attach the LH front wheel liner to the valance.
    1.5 Nm (1.1 lbs-ft)

  32. Install the clips (x2) and bolts (x3) that attach the lower portion of front fascia to the valence.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm deep socket
  33. Install the bolts (x6) that attach the upper portion of the front fascia to the vehicle.
    7 Nm (5.2 lbs-ft)

    • 10 mm socket
  34. Remove the front underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Front (Remove and Replace).
  35. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  36. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  37. Press the brake pedal to turn on drive rails.
  38. Turn the steering wheel to the center position.
  39. Use the touchscreen to set the air suspension ride height to “Medium”.
  40. Raise both front windows.
  41. Close the LH front door.
