Link - Aft - Lower - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Reuse

Remove

  1. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  2. Raise the vehicle to working height. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the nut and bolt that attach the LH front air spring module to the front lower aft link.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
    • 21 mm combination wrench
  5. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the LH front lower aft link to the knuckle, set aside the Nord-Lock washers, and then release the link from the knuckle.

    Note
    Note the positioning and orientation of the Nord-Lock washers.
    Tip: Counter hold the stud with a T45 socket and use a breaker bar to loosen the nut.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 22 mm socket
    • Torx T45 socket
  6. Mark the subframe and aft link bolt to aid with installation.
  7. Remove the bolt, nut, and washer that attach the LH front lower aft link to the subframe, and then remove the link from the vehicle.
    127 Nm (93.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
    • 22 mm combination wrench

Install

  1. Position the LH front lower aft link on the vehicle, and then hand-tighten the bolt, nut, and washer that attach the link to the subframe.
    127 Nm (93.7 lbs-ft)

    Do not torque this joint at this time. This joint will be torqued during the alignment check.

    Note
    Align the marking on the eccentric bolt with the marking on the subframe.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
    • 22 mm combination wrench
  2. Position the LH front lower aft link on the knuckle, and then install the Nord-Lock washers and new nut that attach the link to the knuckle.
    180 Nm (132.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Counter hold the stud with a T45 socket.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 22 mm socket
    • Torx T45 socket
  3. Position the LH front air spring module on the lower aft link, and then hand-tighten the nut and bolt that attach the air spring module to the link.
    140 Nm (103.2 lbs-ft)

    Do not torque this joint at this time. This joint will be torqued during the alignment check.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 21 mm socket
    • 21 mm combination wrench
  4. Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  5. Install the LH front wheel and remove the vehicle from the 2 post lift. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  6. Refer to the Alignment Requirement tables to determine whether an EPAS alignment check (EC) or four wheel alignment check (AC) is necessary. If performed, add the alignment check/adjust as a separate activity. See Alignment Requirement - Suspension.
