Headlights - Adjust (Global) (Tool Method)

Adjustment

  1. Enter headlight adjustment mode:
    1. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls > Service > Adjust Headlights.
    2. If prompted to calibrate the headlights (Figure A), continue to substep c. If prompted to adjust the headlights (Figure B), skip to step 2.

    3. Follow the prompts on the touchscreen to calibrate the headlights. Calibration is complete when all 4 checks have transitioned from "red" to "green".

      The calibration drive can take up to 2 km (1.24 mi).

      Note
      To ensure an accurate calibration:
      • After turning on the drive rails, wait for at least 1 second before switching to Drive.
      • Close all vehicle doors and do not open the doors while performing the calibration drive.
      • After stopping the vehicle, wait at least 1 second before opening the doors.
      • Do not drive the vehicle in reverse for more than 10 meters. If this is unavoidable due to garage logistics, start the headlight calibration after the vehicle has exited the garage.
    4. After headlight calibration is complete, the headlights can be adjusted. Continue to the next step.
  2. Set vehicle ride height to "Low".

    Using the touchscreen, touch Controls > Suspension > Low.
  3. Activate Jack Mode.

  4. Open the hood.
  5. Switch on the headlights.
  6. If not yet entered, enter the headlight adjustment mode through the touchscreen.

  7. Position headlight aimer in front of the LH headlight.

    Position the headlight aimer at 30 cm (~ 12 in) distance from the surface of headlight lens. Adjust the height as necessary to match the center point of the headlight (81 cm/32 in).
  8. Power on the headlight aimer.
  9. Use the knobs on the base to adjust tester level.
  10. Use the visor/laser to line up the tester perpendicular to the axis between the hood struts.

    If the headlight aimer can move between RH and LH headlights while maintaining the same laser angle projected onto the hood struts, it is set correctly - perpendicular to the car
  11. Regardless of the region, select TEST EC on the headlight aiming tool.
  12. Select Free test.
  13. Select Vehicle, and then use the + or - buttons to set the vehicle type to Tesla X.
  14. Select Headlight, use the + or - buttons to set the Headlight type to EU Asym, and then use the small - button next to the EU Asym field to select TMR.
  15. Select Light, and then use the + or - buttons to set the Light type to Bi-LED.
  16. Select Inclinat., and then use the + or - buttons to set the inclination to 0.0 %.
  17. Select Height, and then adjust to 81 cm using the +/- buttons.
  18. Press OK, and then press OK again to skip the fog light settings.
  19. Select the laser icon and adjust the tester horizontal and vertical position to align with the LH headlight markings.
  20. Turn off the laser guide.
  21. On the headlight tester tool, press the LH TMR button on the left side of the screen, and then press the TMR button at the bottom of the screen.

    The "L" and "R" indicators at the bottom of the screen are reversed: "L" is on the right side and "R" is on the left side.
  22. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Left.
  23. On the steering wheel, use the left scroll wheel to adjust the beam. When adjusted to within specification, the color of the beam indicator on the headlight tester tool will change from red to green.

    There might be a delay between the scroll wheel input and the actual headlight adjustment output.

  24. Select the save icon to record results
  25. On the headlight tester tool, press the "Save" button to record the results for the LH headlight.
  26. Move the headlight tester tool to the RH headlight, position the tool ~ 30 cm (~ 12 in) from the front of the RH headlight lens.
  27. Align the tool to the RH headlight (see steps 19 and 20).
  28. On the headlight tester tool, press the RH TMR button on the right side of the screen, and then press the TMR button at the bottom of the screen.

  29. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Right.

  31. On the headlight tester tool, press the "Save" button to record the results for the RH headlight, and then press "Save" again to view the results for both headlights.
  32. Press the "Print" button to print out the results, if desired.
  33. Close the front trunk.
  34. On the touchscreen, exit the headlight adjustment mode.
