Sensor - Impact - C-Pillar - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 20200702 0.30 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Remove

  1. Open the LH front door.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Frunk Open.
  4. Open the LH falcon wing door.
  5. Fold the LH 3rd row seat downwards.
  6. Open the liftgate.
  7. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Safety & Security > Power Off.
  8. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  9. Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  10. Remove LH rear sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  11. Remove the LH side rear trunk garnish. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Remove the LH mid C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the LH lower C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  14. Disconnect the LH C-pillar impact sensor connector.

    CAUTION
    Do not push down on red tab. Pull the red tab to disengage lock, and then pull again to release connector.
  15. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the LH C-pillar impact sensor to the vehicle, and then remove the sensor from the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T30 socket

Install

  1. Position the LH C-pillar impact sensor on the vehicle, and then install a new bolt that attaches the sensor to the vehicle.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
    • Torx T30 socket
  2. Connect the LH C-pillar impact sensor connector.
  3. Connect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  4. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  5. Close the hood.
  6. Install the LH lower C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the LH mid C-pillar trim. See Trim - C-Pillar - Mid - LH (Remove and Replace).
  8. Install the LH side rear trunk garnish. See Garnish - Rear Trunk - Side - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Unfold the LH 3rd row seat into original position.
  10. Close the liftgate.
  11. Install LH rear sill panel trim. See Trim - Sill Panel - Rear - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Calibrate the rear doors.

    If the "Calibration Needed" message appears on the vehicle touchscreen, touch and hold Calibrate to calibrate the rear doors.
  13. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  14. Close the LH front door.
