Trim - Cushion and Backrest Bolster - Seat - 2nd Row - LH (6 Seat) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Open all four doors.
  2. Lower the LH and RH front windows.
  3. Remove the LH 2nd row seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - LH (Without 2nd Row Bench Seats) (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the 2nd row LH monopost under belly trim to the seat.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  5. Release the clips (x4) that attach the 2nd row LH monopost under belly trim to the seat.

    CAUTION
    Use caution when releasing the lower trim as the comfort seat switch harness is short in length.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  6. Disconnect the 2nd row LH monopost under belly trim connector, and then remove the trim from the seat.
  7. Remove the bolt, nyloc nut, and seat frame washer that attaches the seatbelt anchor to the seat frame.

    Note
    Discard the nyloc nut after removal.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 3 in extension
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Socket 3/8in Dr. 11/16 - 1761805-00-A
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
  8. Remove the LH 2nd row seatbelt anchor escutcheon. See Escutcheon - Seatbelt Anchor - 2nd Row - LH (6 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the LH 2nd row seat seat back cover. See Cover - Seat Back - 2nd Row Seat - LH (6 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  10. Remove the LH 2nd row seatbelt escutcheon. See Escutcheon - Seatbelt - 2nd Row - LH (6 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  11. Route the seatbelt through the lower and upper cushions, and then remove the seat back assembly from the seat.
  12. Release the J-clip that attaches the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim to the seat assembly.

    CAUTION
    Limit the use of the 90 pick only to release the J-clip, as the upholstery could be damaged by poking a hole through it.

    Note
    Starting at the outer LH rear corner, release the upper cushion upholstery away from the bottom of the seat frame.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in
  13. Release the J-hooks (x3) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim to the spring mat.
  14. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim headrest upholstery to the seat assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Mini ratchet bit set
  15. Release the J-clips (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim headrest upholstery to the seat assembly.

    CAUTION
    Limit the use of the 90 pick only to release the J-clips, as the trim upholstery could be damaged by poking a hole through it.

    Note
    Starting at the outer LH rear corner, release the trim headrest upholstery from seat assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in
  16. Release the Velcro straps (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim to the seat back frame.
  17. Release the J-hooks (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim to the seat back assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Pick Miniature Soft Grip, 90 degree tip, 6 in
  18. Carefully remove the RH side foam bolster from the seat assembly.
  19. Remove the screws (x2) that attach the seat back assembly to the seat assembly.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T25 socket
  20. Remove the nuts (x2) that attach the air bag to the seat.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Combination wrench 12pt 13mm
  21. Release the studs (x2) that attach the side air bag to the upholstery air bag pouch, carefully remove the side air bag from the upholstery pouch, and then place the air bag off to the side of the seat assembly.
  22. Remove the LH side foam bolster from the seat assembly.
  23. Remove the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim from the seat assembly and place on work bench.
  24. Route the seat cushion heater connector through the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim.
  25. Release the hog rings (x9) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim to the seat cushion, and the remove the trim from the cushion.

    Note
    Starting at the rear of the seat cushion, release both LH and RH sides of the seat cushion foam Velcro working towards the first set of hog rings. Continue process until the trim is separated from the seat cushion foam.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Diagonal cutters

Install

  1. Position the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim on the seat cushion, and then install the hog rings (x9) that attach the trim to the cushion.

    Note
    Starting at the front of the seat cushion, install the hog rings working towards the back while firmly pressing the Velcro in place on both LH and RH sides of the seat cushion foam. Continue process until the trim is fully installed on the seat cushion foam.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Hog ring pliers
  2. Route the seat cushion heater connector through the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim.
  3. Position the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim on the seat assembly.

    Note
    Position the seat cushion on the seat, and then place the trim headrest upholstery on the seat assembly headrest. Ensure the seatbelt buckle inserts into the seat cushion.
  4. Install the LH side foam bolster on the seat assembly.

    Slide the side air bag upholstery pouch through the LH side foam bolster.
  5. Install the studs (x2) that attach the side air bag to the upholstery air bag pouch.

    Maneuver the air bag into the pouch. Once in place, slowly slide the air bag downward and position the studs through the pouch.
  6. Install the nuts (x2) that attach the air bag to the seat.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • ¼ in to 3/8 in adapter
    • 3/8in Dr. Flare Nut Crowfoot Socket x 13mm
    • Combination wrench 12pt 13mm
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  7. Install the screws (x2) that attach the seat back assembly to the seat assembly.
    5 Nm (3.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Torx T25 socket
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  8. Carefully install the RH side foam bolster on the seat assembly.
  9. Install the J-hooks (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim to the seat back assembly.
  10. Install the J-clips (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim headrest upholstery to the seat assembly.

    Note
    Press the J-clips into the seat assembly with a plastic trim tool to fully secure.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  11. Install the screws (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim headrest upholstery to the seat assembly.
    2 Nm (1.5 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • PH2 Phillips screwdriver
    • PH2 Phillips screwdriver bit
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  12. Install the Velcro straps (x2) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim to the seat back frame.
  13. Install the J-hooks (x3) that attach the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim to the spring mat.
  14. Install the J-clip that attaches the LH 2nd row seat cushion and backrest bolster trim to the seat assembly.

    Note
    Starting at the outer LH rear corner, install the upper cushion upholstery on the seat frame.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Plastic trim tool
  15. Route the seatbelt through the seat back assembly.

    Note
    Ensure that the seatbelt anchor escutcheon is routed onto the seatbelt prior to the seatbelt anchor being routed through seat cushion. Do not install seatbelt the anchor escutcheon at this time.
  16. Install the LH 2nd row seatbelt escutcheon. See Escutcheon - Seatbelt - 2nd Row - LH (6 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the LH 2nd row seat seat back cover. See Cover - Seat Back - 2nd Row Seat - LH (6 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the LH 2nd row seatbelt anchor escutcheon. See Escutcheon - Seatbelt Anchor - 2nd Row - LH (6 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  19. Install the bolt, nyloc nut, and seat frame washer that attaches the seatbelt anchor to the seat frame.
    40 Nm (29.5 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Install a new nyloc nut.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 3 in extension
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Socket 3/8in Dr. 11/16 - 1761805-00-A
    • Torx Plus T45 socket
  20. Position the LH monopost under belly trim on the seat assembly, and then connect the trim connector.
  21. Install the clips (x4) that attach the 2nd row LH monopost under belly trim to the seat.

    Note
    Align the datums first, and then secure the trim.
  22. Install the bolts (x2) that attach the 2nd row LH monopost under belly trim to the seat.
    8 Nm (5.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm deep socket
    • Flex head ratchet/flex head torque wrench
    • Ratchet/torque wrench
  23. Install the LH 2nd row seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - LH (Without 2nd Row Bench Seats) (Remove and Replace).
  24. Raise the LH and RH front windows.
  25. Close the LH front door.
