Procedure
- Prepare the vehicle for lifting. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Install).
- Disconnect LV power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Remove the mid aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Mid (Remove and Replace).
- Perform Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.
-
Disconnect the A/C compressor logic
connector.
-
Release the fir tree clip that
attaches the A/C compressor logic harness to the A/C compressor HV harness
bracket.
-
Disconnect the HV harness connector
from A/C compressor.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C
compressor ground strap.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the A/C
compressor HV harness bracket toe the A/C compressor.
-
Remove the A/C compressor HV bracket
from the A/C compressor.
-
Release the fir tree clip that
attaches the coolant hose to the A/C compressor bracket.
-
Remove the PT coolant pump from the
A/C compressor bracket.
-
Release the broken frunk harness
ground terminal G110 from the LH crash rail.
-
Remove and discard the bolt that
attaches the frunk harness ground terminal G120 to the RH crash rail.
-
Release the bolts (x2) that attach the
A/C compressor bracket to the multi-system beam.
NoteSupport the A/C compressor while removing the fasteners. Carefully remove the A/C compressor and A/C compressor bracket towards the front of the vehicle and under the multi-system beam. Be cautious around the coolant hose and supermanifold harness. Place a fender cover on the fan housing and gently put the A/C compressor assembly down.
-
Release the clip that attaches the
frunk harness front guide to the LH side crash rail.
-
Remove the broken bolt head from the
frunk harness ground terminal G110.
-
Remove the broken stud of the ground
point G110 from the LH crash rail.
NoteUse locking pliers to remove the stud, turning it clockwise viewed from the front of the vehicle. Move the frunk harness front guide aside as needed.
-
Use an M6 restoring tap to clean
thread of the G110 ground point on the LH crash rail.
-
Sand off the e-coat around the edges
of the hole at the G110 ground point on the LH crash rail to ensure
proper electrical connection.
NoteSand off a radius of 11 mm around the hole. Within 2 hours of removing the e-coat, prime all abraded areas. If the abraded areas are not primed within 2 hours, they must be abraded again to remove any oxidation. Do not use a conditioning disc that has been used on any material other than e-coat and aluminum. Cover brake line with a towel to prevent any damage.
-
Sand off the e-coat around the edges
of the hole at the G120 ground point on the RH crash rail to ensure
proper electrical connection.
NoteSand of a radius of 11 mm around the hole. Within 2 hours of removing the e-coat, prime all abraded areas. If the abraded areas are not primed within 2 hours, they must be abraded again to remove any oxidation. Do not use a conditioning disc that has been used on any material other than e-coat and aluminum. Cover the brake line with a towel to prevent any damage
-
Clean any oxidation from the frunk
harness ground terminal G110.
NoteClean both sides of the terminal.
-
Clean any oxidation from frunk harness
ground terminal G120.
NoteClean both sides of the terminal
-
Clean the reworked area of the LH
crash rail.
NoteUse a blow gun with shop air to blow out debris on the LH crash rail and clean the sanded area on the crash rail and terminal with IPA. Allow 1 minute dry time afterwards.
-
Clean the reworked area of the RH
crash rail.
NoteUse a blow gun with shop air to blow out debris on the RH crash rail and clean the sanded area on the crash rail and terminal with IPA. Allow 1 minute dry time afterwards.
-
Install a new bolt that attaches the
frunk harness ground terminal G110 to the LH crash rail (torque 8 Nm).
-
Install a new bolt that attaches the
frunk harness ground terminal G120 to the RH crash rail (torque 8 Nm).
CAUTIONTake care not to damage the brake line: gently move the brake line aside with a plastic tool to access the bolt.
-
Install the clip that attaches the
frunk harness front guide to the LH side crash rail.
-
Perform a Hioki resistance test at the
frunk harness ground terminals G110 and G120 on the LH and RH side crash
rails.
NoteMeasure the resistance between the exposed spot on the ground terminal and the exposed aluminum surface of LH and RH crash rail. If the resistance is 0.0001Ω or lower, then proceed with the rework. If resistance is more than 0.0001Ω, perform E-coat and oxidation cleaning on the contact points again.
-
Apply masking tape around the G110
ground terminal.
NoteTake care not to cover exposed aluminum and exposed terminal
-
Apply masking tape around the G120
ground terminal.
NoteTake care not to cover exposed aluminum and exposed terminal
-
Apply self-etching primer onto the G110
ground terminal.
NoteShake the can for 1 minute before use. Use a respiratory mask or equivalent. Dry time of 1 coat is 5 min. See product label for additional information.
-
Apply self-etching primer onto the G120 ground terminal.
NoteShake the can for 1 minute before use. Use a respiratory mask or equivalent. Dry time of 1 coat is 5 min. See product label for additional information.
-
Position the A/C compressor bracket
assembly into vehicle and install the bolts that attach the A/C compressor assembly to
the multi-system beam (torque 31 Nm)
