Side Airbag - 2nd Row - RH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the RH 2nd row seat assembly from the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - RH (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the RH 2nd row seat cushion sub-assembly. See Cushion Sub-assembly - 2nd Row Seat - RH (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace)
  3. Release the clip and tabs (x4) that attach the RH 2nd row seat inner hinge cover to the seat assembly, and then remove the cover from the assembly.

    Note
    Pull the cover away from seat assembly to release the clips, and then release the tabs from the bottom up.
  4. Release the J-hook that attaches the RH 2nd row seat seat back upholstery to the seat assembly.
  5. Unzip the RH 2nd row seat seat back upholstery on the LH and RH sides of the backrest cover.

    Note
    The ends of the zippers are tucked underneath the upholstery.
    Tip: Use a pick to aid in moving the zipper.
  6. Release the clips (x5) and Velcro strips (x2) that attach the plastic seat back trim to the RH 2nd row seat assembly, and then remove the trim from the assembly.

    Note
    Fold the backrest cover over the headrest for access.
  7. Disconnect the RH 2nd row seat seat heater and side airbag electrical connectors (x2), and then release the clip that attaches the side airbag connector to the backrest frame.
  8. Remove and discard the nuts (x2) that attach the RH 2nd row side airbag to the seat assembly, and then release the airbag from the seat assembly.
    20 Nm (14.7 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Pull the side airbag away from the backrest frame and clear of the mounting studs.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  9. Release the lower portion of the RH 2nd row seat back cushion from the seat frame.

    Guide the harness and tension flaps through the seat back frame.
  10. Lift the RH 2nd row seat back trim sub-assembly to release it from the backrest frame.
  11. Release the RH 2nd row side airbag mounting studs from the seat cushion assembly, and then slide the airbag out to remove it from the assembly.

    Disengage airbag mounting studs from seat cushion and slide out

Install

  1. Slide the RH 2nd row side airbag into the seat cushion, and then engage the mounting studs through the retaining pouch.
  2. Slide the RH 2nd row seat seat back trim sub-assembly over the headrest bracket down to the seat controller bracket.
  3. Secure the lower portion of the RH 2nd row seat back cushion into the seat back frame.

    Note
    Guide the harness and tension flaps through the seat back frame.
  4. Position the RH 2nd row side airbag mounting studs through the back rest frame, and then install new nuts (x2) that attach the airbag to the back rest frame.
    20 Nm (14.7 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
  5. Secure the clip that attaches the RH 2nd row side airbag connector to the backrest frame, and then connect the seat heater and side airbag electrical connectors (x2).
  6. Position the plastic seat back trim onto the RH 2nd row seat assembly, and then secure the clips (x5) and Velcro strips (x2) that attach the trim to the assembly.
  7. Zip the RH 2nd row seat seat back upholstery on the LH and RH sides of the backrest cover.

    Note
    Make sure the ends of zippers are tucked underneath upholstery.
    Tip: Use a pick to aid in moving the zipper.
  8. Secure the J-hook that attaches the RH 2nd row seat seat back upholstery to the seat assembly.
  9. Position the RH 2nd row seat inner hinge cover onto the seat assembly, and then secure the clip and tabs (x4) that attach the cover to the assembly.

    Note
    Slide the upper tabs down onto the seat frame, and then secure clips and tabs.
  10. Install the RH 2nd row seat cushion sub-assembly. See Cushion Sub-assembly - 2nd Row Seat - RH (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace)
  11. Install the RH 2nd row seat assembly into the vehicle. See Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - RH (5 Seat) (Remove and Replace).

    It is not necessary to perform the Service Redeploy routine after installation if the seat assembly is not being replaced.
