Jumper Harness - Trailer Hitch (Remove and Replace)

Torque Specifications

Reuse Install bolts from bottom of the jumper harness

Remove

  1. Remove the rear fascia. See Fascia - Rear (Remove and Install).
  2. Disconnect the trailer hitch jumper harness electrical connector from the trailer hitch ECU.
  3. Carefully use a clip prytool to release the fir tree clip that attaches the trailer hitch jump harness to the trailer hitch assembly.
  4. Remove the bolts (x3) and nuts (x3) that attach the trailer hitch jumper harness to the bracket on the trailer hitch assembly.

    Remember that the bolts are inserted from the bottom.
  5. Maneuver the jumper harness through the opening in the bracket on the trailer hitch assembly and then remove the trailer hitch jumper harness.

Install

  1. For EU trailer sockets only: Perform these substeps to prevent water ingress.
    1. Cut and remove the fir tree clip from the trailer jumper harness.
    2. Apply tape to the trailer hitch harness, from the trailer socket towards the trailer hitch ECU connector, keeping short overlaps to ensure no gaps are present.

      Tape the corner of the label, but keep it visible.
    3. Install a new fir tree clip onto the trailer jumper harness at approximately 23 cm (9 in) from the trailer hitch ECU connector, and then trim the excess zip tie.
  2. Maneuver the jumper harness through the opening in the bracket on the trailer hitch assembly.
  3. Connect the trailer hitch jumper harness electrical connector to the trailer hitch ECU.
  4. Maneuver the trailer hitch jumper harness so that the holes are aligned and the adapter cover opens towards the left (outboard).
  5. Insert the bolts from the bottom through the holes and hand tighten the nuts on the top of the trailer hitch jumper harness. Tighten the bolts and nuts.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

    CAUTION
    Make sure the bolts are inserted from the bottom of the jumper harness.
  6. Install the fir tree clip that attaches the trailer hitch jump harness to the trailer hitch assembly.
  7. Install the rear fascia. See Fascia - Rear (Remove and Install).
