Car Computer (RHD) (Remove and Install)

Special tools required for this procedure:
  • 1119171-00-A Plug,Car Computer Fluid Port
  • 1065131-00-A Kit, Battery Coolant Drain & Fill
  • 1473522-00-A Kit, Computer Purge Adapters, Model 3
  • 1135762-00-A Kit, Svc Plug, Cooling Hose, Model 3

Remove

  1. Open all doors and windows.

    Note
    Latch the rear doors to prevent accidental closing.
  2. Remove the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Cabin Intake (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the HVAC plenum outer duct. See Duct - HVAC Plenum - Outer (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  6. Move the LH seat backward.
  7. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  8. Remove the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the LH footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  10. Release the clips (x10) that attach the LH center console side panel carpet to the center console, and then remove the LH center console side panel carpet.
  11. Remove the clips (x2) that attach the LH front main carpet to the vehicle, and then fold the main carpet aside for access.
  12. Put absorbent material under the car computer coolant hoses to collect any spilled coolant.
  13. Release the clips on the coolant hoses connected to the car computer, disconnect the coolant hoses from the car computer, and then install the car computer fluid port plug over the car computer coolant hose fittings.
  14. Remove and discard the nuts that attach the car computer to the body.

  15. In the vehicle interior, put absorbent material beneath the car computer to collect any spilled coolant.
  16. Remove the lower left bolt and nut that attach the ground cable to the car computer.
  17. Put on an antistatic wrist strap, and connect the strap to a body ground point.
  18. Slide the car computer inwards to have better access to the harness clips and electrical connectors of the car computer.
  19. Release the clips (x4) that attach the electrical harnesses to the car computer.

  20. Disconnect the electrical harness connectors (x21) from the car computer, and then remove the car computer from the vehicle.

    Avoid spilling coolant on the electrical connectors.

Install

  1. Put on an antistatic wrist strap, and connect the strap to a body ground point.
  2. Move the car computer into position, and then connect the electrical harness connectors (x21) to the car computer.

    CAUTION
    Avoid spilling coolant on the electrical connectors.

  3. Install the clips (x4) that attach the electrical harnesses to the car computer.

  4. Slide the car computer into position on the bulkhead.
  5. Install the bolt and nut (torque 3.5 Nm) that attach the ground cable to the car computer.
  6. Install new nuts (x4) that attach the car computer to the body (torque 7 Nm).

  7. Remove the car computer fluid port plug from the car computer coolant hose fittings, and then connect the coolant hoses to the car computer.

  8. Remove absorbent materials from below car computer coolant hose connection points and from beneath the car computer.
  9. Fold the LH front main carpet back into position, and then install the push clips (x2) that attach the carpet to the vehicle.
  10. Install the LH footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  11. Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  12. Install the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  13. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  14. Refill the cooling system. See Cooling System (Partial Refill and Bleed).
  15. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  16. Install the outer HVAC plenum duct. See Duct - HVAC Plenum - Outer (Remove and Replace).
  17. Install the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Cabin Intake (Remove and Replace).
  18. Close the hood, doors and windows.
