Hose - Chiller to HV Battery (Heat Pump) (Dual Motor) (Remove and Replace)

Remove
- Put the vehicle on a 2 post lift. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.

Open all doors and lower the
windows.
NoteLatch the rear doors to prevent accidental closure after the vehicle is powered off.
- Remove the 2nd row seat cushion. See Seat Cushion - Lower - 2nd Row (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
- Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.
- Unlock the vehicle Gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
- On the touchscreen, touch , touch Run, and allow the routine to complete.
- Disconnect 12V/LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
- Lock steering wheel into position.
- Perform the vehicle HV disablement procedure. See Vehicle HV Disablement Procedure.

Remove the clips (x3 or 4) that attach
the cabin intake upper duct assembly.
- Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).

Remove and discard the bolt that
attaches the steering gear assembly to intermediate shaft assembly.
-
Slide the electric steering column
upward to remove it from the steering gear assembly.
NoteYou may need to wiggle or use a dead blow hammer to help separate.
- Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the fresh air intake duct. See Duct - Fresh Intake (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the 12V/LV battery. See 12V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the coolant bottle cap.

Place a fluid extractor in front of
the vehicle.
NoteSet Mityvac to evacuate.
-
Evacuate coolant from the coolant
bottle.
NotePlace evacuation hose in bottle at left front corner to remove as much fluid as possible, pump fluid into Mityvac evacuator.
- Remove the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).

Position a coolant drain container
below the HV battery front manifold hose.

Disconnect the FDU inverter inlet hose
from the fluid coupling.
NotePlug the hose end and fluid coupling.
-
Release the FDU inverter inlet hose
from the FDU.
-
Release the HV battery front manifold
hose from the body.
-
Disconnect the HV battery front
manifold hose and plug both hose ends.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the FDU
HV harness to the FDU.
-
Disconnect the FDU HV harness
connector.
NoteRelease the locking tab and rotate the release lever up to disengage the connector. Do not force the release lever up. Make sure that the alignment tabs on the FDU header are not damaged.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the FDU
ground strap to the FDU.
-
Release the FDU ground strap harness
clip from the FDU.
-
Slide the intermediate shaft towards
the rear of the vehicle.
-
Position a stand to support the LH
side of the FDU.
NoteThis will allow the LH side mount bolt to be backed out with ease.
-
Back out the bolt until the backside
is flush with the subframe.
NoteBy backing this bolt out, it allows for clearance between the subframe and the bulkhead when removing and installing the hose from/to the vehicle. DO NOT fully remove the bolt. This way, the FDU can continue to be supported.
- Remove the stand from below the FDU.
-
Position a coolant catcher underneath
the front of the vehicle.
- Remove the coolant bottle from the supermanifold. See Coolant Bottle (Heat Pump) (Remove and Replace).

Remove the bolts that attach the shock
tower brace to the LH and RH shock tower.
-
Move the shock tower brace assembly
forward to gain clearance.
-
Remove the retaining clip that
attaches the A/C compressor HV harness to the front harness guide cover.
-
Release the hose clip from below the
RH side of the 12V beam.
-
Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the
12V beam to the body.
-
Disconnect the thermal sub-harness
from the front controller.
NoteDepress locking tab and rotate to release.
-
Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the
front controller to the body.
-
Tilt the front controller forward for
access.
-
Remove the bolt and clip that attach
the ground cable to the rear side of the front controller.
-
Put absorbent material below the car
computer coolant hose connection points to collect any spilled coolant.
-
Disconnect and plug the outer coolant
hose to the car computer mount.
-
Disconnect the inner coolant hose to
car computer mount.
-
Install the car computer coolant
plug.
-
Release the hose clips from the RH
side of the bulkhead.
-
Release the hose clip from the LH side
of the bulkhead.
-
Remove the chiller to battery hose
from the vehicle.
NoteRemove hose from the RH side of the vehicle. Gently maneuver the hose as needed to clear any surrounding objects.
Install
-
Position the chiller to battery hose
to the vehicle for installation.
NoteFeed hose into position from the RH side of the vehicle along the bulkhead. Gently maneuver the hose as needed to clear any surrounding objects.
- Raise the vehicle.
-
Position a coolant drain container
below the HV battery front manifold hose.
-
Remove the plugs, and then connect the
HV battery front manifold hose.
NotePerform a push-pull-push test to make sure that the hose is fully engaged.
-
Install the clip that attaches the HV
battery front manifold hose to the body.
-
Install the clip that attaches the FDU
inverter inlet hose.
-
Remove the plug from the fluid
coupling and connect the FDU inverter inlet hose.
NotePerform a push-pull-push test to make sure that the hose is fully engaged.
- Remove the coolant drain container from underneath the vehicle.
-
Position a stand to support the LH
side of the FDU.
NoteThis will allow LH side mount bolt to be backed in with ease.
-
Install the LH FDU mounting bolt.
105 Nm (77.4 lbs-ft)NoteUsing a 3/8 Dr. ratchet with adapter will ease torquing as space is limited. - Remove the stand from below the FDU.
-
Slide the intermediate shaft towards
the front of the vehicle.
-
Attach the FDU ground strap harness
clip to the FDU.
-
Install the bolt that attaches the FDU
ground strap to the FDU.
6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft) -
Connect the FDU HV harness connector
to the FDU.
NoteMake sure that the lever is in the upright and open position. Carefully seat the connector and allow the lever to engage. Fully install the lever and engage the red locking tab. Do not damage the connector or header.

Install the bolt that attaches the FDU
HV harness to the FDU.
10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft) - Install the front aero shield panel. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).

Install the hose clip onto the LH side
of the bulkhead.
-
Install the hose clips onto the RH
side of the bulkhead.
-
Install the hose clip onto the bottom
RH side of the 12V beam.
-
Install the retaining clip that
attaches the A/C compressor HV harness to the front harness guide cover.
NoteFeed the harness down against the firewall of the vehicle to continue installation.
-
Remove the coolant plug from the car
computer.
-
Connect the outer coolant hose to the
car computer mount.
NotePerform a push-pull-push test to make sure that the hose is fully seated.
-
Connect the inner coolant hose to the
car computer mount.
NotePerform a push-pull-push test to make sure that the hose is fully seated.
-
Remove the absorbent material from
below the car computer coolant hose connection points.
-
Install the bolt and clip that attach
the ground cable to the rear side of the front controller.
8.5 Nm (6.3 lbs-ft)Note1x bolt, 10mm, 8.5 Nm, 1x tab, 1x edge clip -
Install the harness guide and tilt the
front controller backwards for installation.

Install the bolts (x3) that attach the
front controller to the body.
10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft) -
Connect the thermal sub-harness to the
front controller.
NoteRotate fully to enable attaching the locking tab.
-
Install the bolts (x2) that attach the
12V beam to the body.
9 Nm (6.6 lbs-ft) - Install the coolant bottle. See Coolant Bottle (Heat Pump) (Remove and Replace).

Position the shock tower brace
assembly back for installation.
-
Install the bolts that attach the
shock tower brace to LH and RH shock tower.
NoteSee image for torques.
- Install the 12V/LV battery. See 12V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
-
Slide the intermediate shaft assembly
downward to install it to the steering gear assembly.
NoteMake sure that the intermediate shaft is aligned and fully seated.
-
Install a new bolt that attaches the
intermediate shaft to the steering gear assembly.
18 Nm (13.3 lbs-ft) - Install the fresh air intake assembly. See Duct - Fresh Intake (Remove and Replace).
- Install the cowl screen assembly and all parts removed to remove the cowl screen assembly. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
- Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Connect 12V/LV power. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the steering wheel holder.
- Perform a vacuum refill. See Cooling System (Vacuum Refill).

Inspect the coolant level and top off
as necessary.
NoteMake sure that the fluid level is at the MAX line.
- Enable Service Mode. See Service Mode.

Access thermal system routines via
UI

- Install the coolant reservoir cap.
