Remove

  1. Verify there is no abnormal tire wear per the Courtesy Inspection.
Informational PurposesAn informational icon, calling your attention
    Note
Note any abnormal tire wear that could indicate the need for an alignment.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. See Raise Vehicle - 2 Post Lift.
  3. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the cabin intake duct. See Duct - Cabin Intake (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the hood latch cover. See Cover - Hood Latch (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  7. Use the thin-walled strut removal socket special tool to remove the nuts (x3) that attach the LH spring and damper assembly to the LH front upper control arm (FUCA) mount.
  8. Remove the LH front wheel. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  9. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the front LH ABS wheel speed sensor to the knuckle, and then separate the sensor from the knuckle.
  10. Release the clip and remove the grommet that attach the front LH ABS wheel speed sensor electrical harness to the knuckle.
  11. Dual Motor only: Remove the nut that attaches the LH front jounce hose bracket to the vehicle.
  12. Remove the bolt and nut that attach the upper control arm to the knuckle, and then discard the nut.
  13. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the stabilizer bar link to the LH front spring and damper assembly, and then move the link aside.
  14. Remove the bolt and nut that attach the LH front spring and damper assembly to the lower control arm.
  15. Lift up on the LH front upper control arm to separate it from the knuckle, then move the LH front spring and damper assembly down and out of the FUCA mount.
  16. Carefully remove the LH front spring and damper assembly from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Lift up on the LH front upper control arm, and then carefully move the LH front spring and damper assembly up and into the FUCA mount.
  2. Hand-tighten the bolt and nut that attach the LH front spring and damper assembly to the lower control arm.
Torquing will be done at a later stage in this procedure.
  3. Use the thin-walled strut removal socket special tool to install the nuts (x3) that attach the LH spring and damper assembly to the FUCA mount.
    23 Nm (17.0 lbs-ft)
  4. Install a new nut to attach the stabilizer bar link to the LH front spring and damper assembly.
    98 Nm (72.3 lbs-ft)
  5. Install the upper control arm into the knuckle, and then install the bolt and a new nut to attach the upper control arm to the knuckle.
    56 Nm (41.3 lbs-ft)
  6. Dual Motor only: Install the nut that attaches the LH front jounce hose bracket to the vehicle.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
  7. Install the grommet and fasten the clip that attach the front LH ABS wheel speed sensor electrical harness to the knuckle.
