Module - Body Controller - LH (RHD) (Non-Heat Pump) (Remove and Replace)

Replace

Remove

  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Open the glove box.
  3. Disconnect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  4. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the glove box. See Glove Box - Without Knee Airbags (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH footwell duct. See Duct - Footwell - LH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the LH air wave duct. See Duct - Air Wave - LH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  8. Release the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the IP carrier.
  9. Disconnect the clips that attach the LH front door electrical connectors to the LH body controller module.
  10. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the LH front door electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
  11. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the front seat electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
  12. Release the connector lock, and then disconnect the instrument panel electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
  13. Disconnect the HVAC electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
  14. Disconnect the inline electrical harness connector X909 from the LH body harness, and then separate it from the LH body controller module.
  15. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the 12V power cable to the LH body controller module, and then remove the 12V power cable from the LH body controller module.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12-point deep socket
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
    • 4 in extension
  16. Disconnect the front wiring harness connector from the LH body controller module.
  17. Disconnect the Body 3 electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
  18. Disconnect the body 1 electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
  19. Disconnect the Body 2 electrical connector from the LH body controller module.
  20. Disconnect the electrical connector from the headliner electrical connector.
  21. Release the electrical harness clips that attach the LH body controller module to the vehicle.
  22. Move the LH body harness away from the LH body controller module.
  23. Release the clip that attaches the LH front door electrical harness to the LH body controller module.
  24. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the LH body controller module to the vehicle.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12-point deep socket
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
    • 2 in extension
  25. Slide the LH body controller upwards to release the W-clip, and then move the LH body controller module out from underneath the instrument panel.
  26. Remove the LH body controller module from the vehicle.
  27. Release the clips that attach the shroud to the module.

    Note
    A shroud should be installed on the new body controller module.

Install

  1. Install the clip that attach the shroud to the LH body controller module.

    Note
    Make sure that both clips are fully seated so that the edge of the shroud is parallel with the line on the back of the LH body controller module.

    CAUTION
    A shroud should be installed on the body controller module even if one was not present during removal.
  2. Maneuver the LH body controller module into position under the IP carrier. Align the W-clip with the body cutout, and then slide down to attach the LH body controller module to the body.
  3. Install new nut that attaches the LH body controller module onto the body.
    6 Nm (4.4 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12-point deep socket
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
    • 2 in extension
  4. Install the clip that attaches the shroud drain hose to the tab on the LH body controller module.
  5. Install the LH front door harness clip to the LH body controller module.
  6. Move the LH body harness towards the left side of the LH body controller module, and then attach the harness clips to the LH body controller module.
  7. Connect the headliner electrical connector.
  8. Connect the Body 2 electrical connector to the LH body controller module.
  9. Connect the Body 1 electrical connector to the LH body controller module.
  10. Connect the Body 3 electrical connector to the LH body controller module.
  11. Connect the front wiring connector to the LH body controller module.
  12. Install new nut that attaches the 12V power cable to the LH body controller module.
    8.5 Nm (6.3 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12-point deep socket
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
    • 4 in extension
  13. Connect the inline electrical connector X909 to the LH body harness, and then clip it to the LH body controller module.
  14. Connect the HVAC electrical connector to the LH body controller module , and then engage the connector lock.

    Ensure the electrical connector is fully seated.
  15. Install the instrument panel electrical connector to the LH body controller module, and then engage the connector lock.

  16. Connect the driver seat electrical connector to the LH body controller module, and then engage the connector lock.

  17. Connect the LH front door electrical connector to the LH body controller module, and then engage the connector lock.

  18. Connect the clips that attach the LH front door electrical connectors to the LH body controller module.
  19. Connect the electrical harness clip onto the IP carrier.
  20. Install the LH air wave duct. See Duct - Air Wave - LH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  21. Install the glove box. See Glove Box - Without Knee Airbags (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the LH footwell duct. See Duct - Footwell - LH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  24. Connect 12V power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  25. Reinstall the vehicle firmware. See Software Reinstall - Touchscreen.
  26. Connect to vehicle using Toolbox 3.0.

    Vehicle connection is integrated into LH footwell cover.
  27. In Toolbox, click Actions, type "PROC_VCLEFT" in the search field, click the Play button next to PROC_VCLEFT_X_POST-REPLACEMENT-PROCEDURESearch for routine in ToolboxVCLEFT post replacement procedureLow Voltage Controllers Low Voltage Controllers, and then select Run.

    Note
    Perform this step with the doors closed. Windows and seats will move as part of this process.
  28. Disconnect the laptop from the vehicle.
