Harness - Main Front (RHD) (Remove and Replace)

Correction code 17100712 5.40 NOTE: Unless otherwise explicitly stated in the procedure, the above correction code and FRT reflect all of the work required to perform this procedure, including the linked procedures. Do not stack correction codes unless explicitly told to do so.NOTE: See Flat Rate Times to learn more about FRTs and how they are created. Remove

  1. Open all doors, and latch the rear doors to prevent accidental closing.
  2. Lower all windows.
  3. Put chocks at one of the rear wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
  4. Enable the EPB Service Mode. See Parking Brake - Caliper - Rear - LH (Release)
  5. Remove the LH and RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  6. Remove the LH footwell vent duct. See Duct - Footwell - LH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the RH footwell vent duct. See Duct - Footwell - RH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the RH center console side panel carpet.
  9. Remove the clips (x2) that attach the RH front carpet to the vehicle, and then fold the carpet aside for access.
  10. Open the glove box.
  11. Disconnect 12V/LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  12. Remove the main instrument panel décor trim. See Decor Trim - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  13. Remove the passenger footwell cover. See Cover - Footwell - Passenger (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  14. Remove the glove box. See Glove Box - Without Knee Airbags (Remove and Replace).
  15. Remove the LH center console side panel carpet.
  16. Remove the clips (x3) that attach the LH air wave duct.
  17. Release the harness clips (x2) from the car computer mounting clips, and then release the harness from the car computer.
  18. Remove the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  19. Remove the 12V/LV battery. See12V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  20. Remove the wiper module. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
  21. Remove the HVAC plenum outer duct. See Duct - HVAC Plenum - Outer (Remove and Replace).
  22. Remove the HVAC plenum inner duct.Duct - HVAC Plenum - Inner (Remove and Replace).
  23. Remove the electromechanical brake booster. See Electromechanical Brake Booster Assembly (Non-Heat Pump) (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  24. Remove the pedal asembly from the vehicle. See Brake Pedal (Remove and Replace).
  25. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the positive battery cable to the RH body controller.
  26. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the DCDC positive cables to the RH body controller.
  27. Release the black connector from the RH body controller, and then disconnect the connector.
  28. Disconnect the frunk connector from the RH body controller.
  29. Push the RH side of the front harness through the opening in the bulkhead.
  30. Disconnect TXV valve harness connector.
  31. Remove the front harness clip at the RH front frame rail area.
  32. Release the thermal harness ground from the front harness bundle.
  33. Remove the front harness clips (x2) near the RH headlight area.
  34. Remove the bolt that attaches the front harness test junction near the RH front frame rail.
  35. Disconnect the RH headlight connector.
  36. Remove the battery bracket. See Bracket - 12V Battery (RWD) (Remove and Replace).
  37. Remove the bolt that attaches the thermal harness cover to the front body controller module, and then remove the cover from the module.
  38. Disconnect the thermal harness from the front body controller module connector.
  39. Release the clip that attaches the suction/liquid lines to the body near the TXV, and then move the electrical harness aside to gain access to the front body controller module.
  40. Remove the bolts (x9) that attach the front body controller module cover to the front body controller module, and then remove the cover.
  41. Disconnect the main front harness connectors (x4) from the front body controller module.
  42. Remove and discard the nuts (x6) and bolt (x1) that attach the power and ground cables to the front body controller module.
  43. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the front body controller module to the body.
  44. Release the clips that attach the bottom of the front body controller module to the body, and then remove the lower busbar from the stud.
  45. Remove the bolt that attaches the ground strap to the upper rear of the front body controller module, and then remove the ground strap from the module.
  46. Remove the bolt that attaches the ground strap to the lower right side of the front body controller module, and then remove the ground strap from the module.
  47. Remove the bolt that attaches the ground strap to the lower rear of the front body controller module, and then remove the module from the vehicle.
  48. Release the front harness cover from the front body controller, and then remove the front body controller from the vehicle.
  49. Disconnect the harness connector of the windshield heater at the underhood area, release the clip that attaches the harness to the body, and then attach the harness out of the way to avoid damage.
  50. Disconnect the front connectors from the car computer.

    Note
    Vehicles with E-call system have 4 connectors, vehicles without E-call system have 3 connectors.
  51. Disconnect the LH front harness connector from the car computer.
  52. Disconnect the RH front harness connectors (x5) from the car computer.
  53. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the power cable of the front harness to the LH body controller module, and then remove the power cable from the controller module.
  54. Release the clip that attaches the inline electrical harness connector (X909) to the LH body controller module, and then disconnect the electrical connector.
  55. Disconnect the frunk harness connector from the LH body controller.
  56. Push the LH side of the front harness through the opening in the bulkhead.
  57. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ABS modulator.
  58. Release the clips (x7) that attach the front harness to the front frame rail area and the frunk reinforcement.
  59. Remove and discard the bolts (x4) that attach the electrical harness ground terminals to the body in the front LH frame rail area.
  60. Disconnect the logic connectors and the steering gear assembly connectors.

  61. Disconnect the LH headlight connector.
  62. Partially close all doors.
  63. Remove the wheel chocks.
  64. With an assistant, move the vehicle to a lift.

    The vehicle is safely pushed for only a very short distance and at a very slow speed.
  65. Remove the front LH and front RH wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  66. Remove the LH and RH front wheel arch liners. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  67. Remove the lower bolt that attaches the windshield washer reservoir to the body.
  68. Disconnect the front fascia harness connector, and then remove the front harness clip from the RH front fascia mounting bracket.
  69. Disconnect the electrical harness from the front end module connector.
  70. Disconnect the front harness connector from the RH acceleration sensor.
  71. Remove the front harness clips (x2) from the outer side of the RH frame rail.
  72. Disconnect the RH front wheel speed sensor connector.
  73. Remove the front wheel speed sensor harness clips (x2) at the front of the RH front wheel arch.
  74. Release the clips that attach the electrical harness to the body at the rear of the front RH wheel arch area.
  75. Disconnect the front harness connectors for the RH side repeater and camera.
  76. Disconnect the front harness connector for the LH front carrier harness.
  77. Disconnect the front harness connector from the LH acceleration sensor.
  78. Disconnect the harness connecors from the horns.
  79. Remove the front harness clips (x2) from the outer LH frame rail area.
  80. Disconnect the front harness connector from the CFM.
  81. Disconnect the LH front wheel speed sensor connector.
  82. Disconnect the LH front ride height sensor connector.
  83. Remove the front harness clips at the LH front wheel arch area.

    2 or 3 clips, depening on vehicle specification.
  84. Remove the front harness clips (x2) for the LH side repeater and camera harness.
  85. Disconnect the front harness connectors for the LH side repeater and camera.
  86. Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
  87. Remove the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  88. Release the front harness clips that attach the HVIL harnesses to the bulkhead.
  89. Disconnect the electrical harness from the HVIL connectors (x2) in the bulkhead area.
  90. Remove the front harness clips at the LH frame rail.

  91. Remove the front harness clips at the RH front frame rail.

  92. Lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
  93. Remove the windshield washer reservoir. See Reservoir - Windshield Washer (Remove and Replace).
  94. Remove the front harness clips (x4) from the body under the windshield washer reservoir area.
  95. Release the clips that attach the coolant hoses and electrical harnesses to the battery bracket beam.
  96. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the battery bracket beam to the body, and then remove battery bracket beam from the vehicle.
  97. Route the LH side of the front harness from the wheel arch towards the frunk area.
  98. Route the LH side of the front harness towards the front controller area.
  99. Release the harness clip at the RH shock tower.
  100. Route the RH side of the front harness from wheel arch towards the frunk area.
  101. Route the RH side of the front harness towards the front controller area.
  102. Remove the front harness from the vehicle.

Install

  1. Position the front harness to the vehicle for installation.

    Note
    Make sure to route the RH branch underneath the A/C compressor HV harness.
  2. Route the front harness around the car computer area, attach the clips (x4), and then move the LH side of the harness into the passenger compartment through the bulkhead.

    Make sure to install the grommet in the proper orientation as indicated on the grommet.
  3. Route the front harness around the HVAC plenum duct area, attach the clips (x4) and then move the RH side of the harness ino the passenger compartment through the bulkead.

    Route the harness underneath the A/C HV harness. Make sure to install the grommet in the proper orientation as indicated on the grommet.
  4. Route the RH side of the front harness towards the RH side of the front fascia area.

    Make sure that the harness is properly oriented with the clips facing the frame rail. Feed the harness down behind the front fascia.
  5. Attach the harness clip to the RH shock tower.
  6. Route the RH side of the front harness from the frunk to the RH wheel arch area.
  7. Route the HVIL connectors down along the bulkhead.
  8. Route the LH side of the front harness towards the LH side front fascia area.

    Note
    Make sure that the plastic housing is properly oriented with the clips facing the frame rail. Feed the harness down behind the front fascia.
  9. Route the LH side of the front harness from the frunk towards the LH wheel arch area.
  10. Position the battery bracket beam on the vehicle, and then install the bolts (x2) that attach the battery bracket beam to the body (torque 9 Nm).
  11. Install the clips that attach the coolant hoses and electrical harnesses to the battery bracket beam.
  12. Install the clips (x7) that attach the front harness to the front frame rail area and the frunk reinforcement.
  13. Install the front harness clip at the RH front frame rail area.
  14. Install the front harness clips (x2) neer the RH headlight area.
  15. Install the front harness clips (x4) to the body in the windshield washer reservoir area.
  16. Install the wind windshield washer reservoir, see Reservoir - Windshield Washer (Remove and Replace).

    Only install the upper bolt that attaches the windshield washer reservoir to the vehicle at this stage.
  17. Raise the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
  18. Install the front harness clips at the RH front frame rail.

  19. Install the front harness clips for the two HVIL harnesses at the bulkhead.
  20. Connect the electrical harness to the HVIL connectors in the bulkhead area.
  21. Install the front aero shield. See Panel - Aero Shield - Front (Remove and Replace).
  22. Partially lower the vehicle.
  23. Install the front harness clips (x2) for the LH side repeater and camera harness.
  24. Connect the front harness connectors for the LH side repeater and camera.
  25. Install the clips (x3) that attach the front harness to the front of the LH wheel arch area.
  26. Connect the LH front wheel speed sensor connector.
  27. Connect the LH front ride height sensor connector.
  28. Install the front harness clips (x2) to the outer LH rail area.
  29. Connect the front harness connector to the CFM.
  30. Connect the front harness connector to the LH acceleration sensor.
  31. Connect the front harness connector to the LH front carrier harness.
  32. Connect the harness connectors to the horns.
  33. Connect the front harness to the front end module harness.
  34. Install the front harness clips at the rear of the RH front wheel arch area for the side repeater and camera harness.
  35. Install the front wheel speed sensor harness clips (x2) at the front of the RH front wheel arch.
  36. Connect the front harness connectors for the RH side repeater and camera.
  37. Connect the RH front wheel speed sensor connector.
  38. Install the front harness clips (x2) to the outer side of the RH rail.
  39. Connect the front harness connector to the RH acceleration sensor.
  40. Install the front harness clip to the RH front fascia mounting bracket, and then connect the front fascia harness connector.
  41. Install the lower bolt (torque 3 Nm) that attaches the windshield washer reservoir to the body.
  42. Install the LH and RH front wheel arch liners. See Wheel Arch Liner - Front - LH (Remove and Replace).
  43. Install the front LH and front RH wheels. See Wheel Assembly (Remove and Install).
  44. With an assistant, remove the vehicle from the lift.

    The vehicle is safely pushed for only a very short distance and at a very slow speed.
  45. Connect the logic connectors and the steering gear assembly conectors.
  46. Connect the LH headlight connector.
  47. Install the bolts (torque 8 Nm) that attach the LH front harness ground terminals to the vehicle.
  48. Connect the electrical connector to the ABS modulator.
  49. Remove the tape from the windshield heater harness, install the windshield harness connector to the body, and then connect the windshield heater harness.
  50. Install the frunk harness connector to the LH body controller.
  51. Install the clip that attaches the inline electrical harness connector (X909) to the LH body controller module, and then connect the electrical connector.
  52. Install the nut (torque 8.5 Nm) that attaches the power cable of the electrical harness to the LH body controller.
  53. Connect the RH front harness connectors (x5) to the car computer.
  54. Connect the LH front harness connector to the car computer.
  55. Connect the front connectors to the car computer.

  56. Position the front controller module for installation.
  57. Install the front harness cover to the rear of the front body controller.
  58. Install the bolt (torque 9 Nm) that attaches the ground strap to the lower rear of the front body controller module.
  59. Install the bolt (torque 9 Nm) that attaches the ground strap to the lower right side of the front body controller module.
  60. Install the bolt (torque 10 Nm) that attaches the ground strap to the upper rear of the front body controller module.
  61. Slide the busbar onto the lower stud and attach the lower harness clips to the bottom of the front body controller module.
  62. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the front body controller module to the body (torque 10 Nm).
  63. Install the nuts (x6) and bolt (x1) that attach the power and ground cables to the front body controller module (torque 8.5 Nm).
  64. Install the main front harness connectors (x4) to the front body controller module.
  65. Install the bolts (x9) that attach the front body controller module cover to the front body controller module (torque 6 Nm).
  66. Connect the thermal harness connector to the front body controller module.
  67. Install the clip that attaches the suction/liquid lines to the body near the TXV.
  68. Install the bolt (torque 6 Nm) that attaches the thermal harness cover to the front body controller module.
  69. Install the battery bracket. See Bracket - 12V Battery (RWD) (Remove and Replace).
  70. Connect the RH headlight connector.
  71. Attach the thermal harness ground to the fron harness bundle.
  72. Install the bolt (torque 8 Nm) that attaches the front harness test junction near the RH front frame rail.
  73. Connect TXV valve harness connector.
  74. Install the electromechanical brake booster. See Electromechanical Brake Booster Assembly (Non-Heat Pump) (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  75. Connect the frunk connector to the RH body controller.
  76. Connect the black connector at the RH body controler, and then attach the connector to the body controller.
  77. Install the new nyloc nut (torque 8.5 Nm) that attaches the DCDC positive cables to the RH body controller.
  78. Install the new nyloc nut (torque 8.5 Nm) that attaches the positive battery cable to the RH body controller.
  79. Install the pedal asembly to the vehicle. See Brake Pedal (Remove and Replace).
  80. Install the HVAC plenum inner duct.Duct - HVAC Plenum - Inner (Remove and Replace).
  81. Install the HVAC plenum outer duct. See Duct - HVAC Plenum - Outer (Remove and Replace).
  82. Install the wiper module. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
  83. Install the 12V/LV battery. See12V/LV Battery (Remove and Replace).
  84. Install the underhood storage unit. See Underhood Storage Unit (Remove and Replace).
  85. Install the harness clips (x2) to the car computer mounting clips, and then install the harness to the car computer.
  86. Install the clips (x3) that attach the LH air wave duct.
  87. Install the LH footwell vent duct. See Duct - Footwell - LH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  88. Install the LH center console side panel carpet.
  89. Install the glove box. See Glove Box - Without Knee Airbags (Remove and Replace).
  90. Install the main instrument panel décor trim. See Decor Trim - Instrument Panel - Main (Remove and Replace).
  91. Install the LH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  92. Fold the RH main carpet back to its original position, and then install the clips that attach the RH front main carpet to the vehicle.
  93. Install the RH center console side panel carpet.
  94. Install the RH footwell vent duct. See Duct - Footwell - RH (RHD) (Remove and Replace).
  95. Install the RH lower A-pillar trim. See Trim - A-Pillar - Lower - LH (Remove and Replace).
  96. Connect the second row seat cushion harness, and then install the second row seat cushion.
  97. With an assistant, move the vehicle to a lift.

    CAUTION
    The vehicle is safely pushed for only a very short distance and at a very slow speed.
  98. Press and hold the Park button to cancel the EPB service mode.
  99. Bleed the brakes. See Brake Fluid Bleed/Flush.
  100. Using Toolbox 3:
    1. Select the Actions tab and search for "Stiffness".
    2. Select the ODIN routine TEST_BRAKE_X_STIFFNESS-TEST-SERVICESearch for routine in ToolboxIBST Stiffness Test - Service - BURNISHED/UNBURNISHEDChassis ➜ Brakes ➜ Brake Stiffness Test, and then click the link of the routine.
    3. If brake pads or rotors have been replaced, select UNBURNISHED under "Action_Type". In all other cases, select BURNISHED.
    4. Click RUN, and allow the routine to complete.
