Surround - Steering Wheel (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Disconnect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  2. Remove the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  3. Disconnect the steering wheel electrical wiring harness connector.
  4. Disconnect the electrical harness from the LH steering wheel switch connector.
  5. Disconnect the electrical harness from the RH steering wheel switch connector.
  6. Release the clips that attach the horn assembly, and then move the horn assembly to the side.
  7. Disconnect the electrical harness from the lower connector, and then remove the electrical harness from the steering wheel.
  8. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the bright surround to the steering wheel.

    Note
    Pry the lower portion of the bright surround assembly away from the steering wheel, and then work your way around.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T20 bit
  9. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the LH steering wheel switch to the bright surround, and then remove the switch from the surround.

    • Torx T10 bit
  10. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the RH steering wheel switch to the bright surround, and then remove the switch from the surround.

  11. Remove the bolts (x2) that attach the steering wheel controller to the steering wheel surround, and then remove the controller.

  12. Remove the bolts that attach the lower spoke cover to the steering wheel surround.

Install

  1. Position the lower spoke cover onto the steering wheel surround, and then install the bolts.
    0.9 Nm (8 lbs-in)

    Note
    Insert the lower edge of the lower spoke.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • Torx T10 bit
  2. Install the bolts that attach the steering wheel controller to the steering wheel surround.
    0.9 Nm (8 lbs-in)

  3. Position the LH steering wheel switch onto the steering wheel surround, and then install the bolts.
    0.9 Nm (8 lbs-in)

  4. Position the RH steering wheel switch onto the steering wheel surround, and then install the bolts.
    0.9 Nm (8 lbs-in)

  5. Position the steering wheel surround onto the steering wheel, and then install the bolts.
    2.5 Nm (1.8 lbs-ft)

  6. Position the horn to the steering wheel assembly, and then fasten the clips.
  7. Connect the LH steering wheel switch electrical connector.
  8. Connect the RH steering wheel switch electrical connector.
  9. Connect the lower connection to the steering wheel controller.
  10. Connect the steering wheel electrical wiring harness connector.
  11. Install the driver airbag. See Airbag - Driver (Remove and Replace).
  12. Connect LV power. See 12V/LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
