Window Motor / Regulator Assembly - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

The side impact airbag deployment depends on the front door sensor's ability to detect a side impact from air pressure. Make sure that there are no uncovered holes in the front door shells. Additionally, always reinstall plugs or tape when servicing or inspecting the front doors and their components.

Remove

  1. Open the front LH door and fully lower the LH front window.
  2. Remove the front LH door tweeter. See Tweeter - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the LH front door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Install).
  4. Remove the LH front door inner belt seal from the door. See Seal - Inner Belt - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  5. Remove the plugs that allow access to the window motor/regulator assembly.
  6. Connect a window switch special tool to the LH front door harness.
  7. Raise the LH front window.
  8. Apply masking tape onto the front LH door glass and LH front door, and then use a plastic trim tool to cut the tape where the glass meets the door.
  9. Remove and discard the bolts that attach the door glass to the regulator isolator clamps, and then remove the door glass from the door.

    Note
    Replace the regulator isolation clamps, if damaged.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
    • 2 in extension
  10. Disconnect the window switch special tool.
  11. Disconnect the LH front door window motor electrical connector.
  12. Remove the bolts that attach the window motor to the closeout panel.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
  13. Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the LH door mirror connectors (x3).
  14. Release the clips that attach the electrical wiring harness to the closeout panel.
  15. Remove the bolts that attach the closeout panel to the door, release the closeout panel from the door assembly, and then set the panel aside to access the window regulator assembly.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
  16. Remove the plugs (x2) that cover the access holes to the window regulator nuts.
  17. Remove the nuts that attach the window motor/regulator assembly to the front LH door, and then remove the window motor/regulator assembly from the door.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

Install

  1. Position the window motor/regulator assembly into the LH front door for installation.
  2. Install the nuts that attach the window motor/regulator assembly to the front LH door.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)
  3. Install the plugs that allow for access to the window motor/regulator assembly.
  4. Position the closeout panel to the door, and then install the bolts that attach the closeout panel to the door assembly.
    4 Nm (2.9 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
  5. Secure the clips that attach the electrical wiring harness to the closeout panel.
  6. Connect the electrical wiring harness to the LH door mirror connectors (x3).
  7. Position the window motor assembly to the closeout panel, and then install the bolts that attach the assembly to the closeout panel.
    3 Nm (2.2 lbs-ft)
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 8 mm socket
    • 2 in extension
  8. Disconnect the LH front door window motor electrical connector.
  9. Position the LH front door glass into the LH front door.
  10. Align the LH front door glass using the masking tape install during removal, and then install new bolts that attach the glass to the regulator isolator clamps.
    9.5 Nm (7.0 lbs-ft)

    Note
    Make sure the isolator clamps are not bottomed out on the regulator.
    Tip: Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 13 mm socket
    • ¼ in std ratchet
    • ¼ in torque wrench (installation only)
    • 2 in extension
  11. Remove the tape from the LH front door and glass.
  12. Install the LH front door inner belt seal. See Seal - Inner Belt - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  13. Install the LH front door trim panel. See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Install).
  14. Install the front LH door tweeter. See Tweeter - Front Door - LH (Remove and Replace).
  15. Sit in the driver seat and close the LH front door.
  16. Use the vehicle touchscreen to calibrate the window regulator. See Window Regulator (Recalibrate).
